Rumored to be considering offers in Europe.

Is there any word about where in this vast Europe place of which you speak that Dike has interest?

So now that we've seen him play against pros, how soon do we think it is before Dike heads to a team across the pond?

And what level of team/league do we envision him having legit interest?

And apologies to anyone clicking on this hoping for actual news and just seeing this.

I'll take the bait. He'll be gone in 12 months time. Where? Who knows but I suspect a solid league for a solid club. France, Portugal, Germany, Holland, or Belgium. Somewhere like that.

I love the way Dike plays. His intelligence on and off the ball combine with the speed, power, and comfortability maneuvering in tight spaces reminds me of the Brazilian player Hulk. Just like Hulk, you look at Dike physically and think.... oh he's just going to barrel his way towards goal then you quickly see he doesn't just rely on those physical traits and that his intelligent movement creates the most havoc. There's so much room to grow and he's only touching the surface of what I think he can do. Fingers crossed the USMNT snags him and he doesn't rep Nigeria.

Definitely going out on a limb limiting your prediction to five countries or countries like them! I like your style. ;)

There have been a bunch of teams sniffing around about Dike. Club Brugge is just one. Orlando want a lot for him, so if Dike is sold in 2021, it will be to a team in one of the bigger leagues.

Cool tidbit from his UVA bio:
    • Graduated in the top 5% of his high school class of 650 students

I'm always curious about these types of guys who are athletes. A lot of soccer players have work for like 2 hours a day and then go home and play Fifa. If you're a really smart guy and had all this free time, what would you do with it? Start a business?

Or maybe all the Orlando players know the ins and outs of Harry Potter World. Who knows.

Yea, Club Brugge is unlikely. He would most likely have to be a top 10 transfer record player for Club Brugge and that seems far fetched for Mr. Dike at this point. Same with Mr. Reynolds.

Nigerian-Americans are very near the top, if not literally No. 1, in educational attainment among ethnic communities in the U.S. Nigerian families tend to have super high expectations for their kids when it comes to school. Those jokes you see in movies and TV shows sometimes where Indian parents are disappointed that their CEO son never went to med school -- like that.

We know about the success of his older brother and sister as professional players but two other older sisters are doctors. I heard him say in a interview that academics were just as important - if not more important - than football. I believe his parents were against joining a MLS academy, despite interest, because they valued academics so much. Apparently he did exceptional well at UVA and he's working towards finishing his degree online as a promise to his parents.

Na, the previous 2 seasons they've acquired several strikers alone at fees ranging from 3.3m all the way up to 8.8m Euros. So they have the money, or at least did pre covid.

Incidentally, that 8.8m Euro guy was a 22 yr old from Serie B. He had 1 season of 10 goals & 12 assists in 2600 minutes there. Dike couldn't be that far behind the valuation w/ 8 goals & 3 assists in 1,400+ as a 20 yr old in MLS. At least under a non covid paradigm they could have swung $5m+, which would be a competitive offer for Dike.

$5 million would put him as their 6th most expensive signing of all time. It's not impossible, clearly they've done it before but I would say it's unlikely. That is a massive investment for Brugge.

Fascinated to see what kind of transfer fee Daryl Dike would bring.

    If a 19 year-old right back with 1379 first-team minutes is worth 9.2 mil, what's a 20 year-old forward 1224 minutes worth?

On the one hand, forwards are worth more on the market than defenders, even attacking ones. On the other, Reynolds is likely a safer bet to be able to play at the highest levels - high end Big 5 teams.

Dike could certainly get there - he obviously has all the physical tools. But he's also a bit raw and a year older so that could keep some teams from bidding too high.

He's in a weird spot because the teams that could best use him and would be best for him to go to next are likely not the teams that can afford what MLS/Orlando will want for him. He's not quite in a Jordan Morris situation, but it has some similarities.

That said, whatever Orlando and MLS gets for him is gonna be pure profit since he didn't cost them a dime in academy money. It's gonna be a good ROI.

BTW - anyone know who Dike's rep is?

Yea, that would roughly make Daryl Club Brugge's record signing.

Hope Orlando sells. You know that team doesn't incorporate selling players into their business model.

They sold Yoshi Yotun to Cruz Azul for $4 million, that’s pretty great business.

There was a whole bunch of drama surrounding it, but eventually sold Larin to Besiktas.

I actually think Dike would benefit from another year in Orlando. Oscar Pareja seems to really know what he's doing and Dike made huge strides this season.

For now, Dike is in a good situation. He's improving, he's playing, and he's well-coached.

Eventually, he'll get to a point where he needs another challenge. But I don't think he's there yet

Honestly curious to see if any Italian teams may try to place a bit for Dike. Strikers of his skill set are starting to see excellent form in Serie A

The $ is there now though. It serves all parties interests right now to do a sale, then maybe loan back for a season. That's what Dortmund/Chelsea did w/ Pulisic, Sounders/Spurs for Pulisic. It's not much different than Aaronson.

Heck, Roma or whoever could do the same w/ Reynolds, if you think half season at the pro level doesn't make him ready, but everybody is keen on locking in the move now. Dike's situation is similar, though the Belgian League would hardly be a shock.
