I apologize for not having read the earlier posts in this thread. Does anyone know whether ESPN or ESPN2 is going to show Bundesliga games later in the season?
4 matches only during the season on the regular ESPN channels. One (I believe) shown so far so only 3 more matches to go. Having ESPN+ is truly the way to follow the Bundesliga. SA www.soccertvblog.com
I am just getting around to watching yesterday's Napoli v. Roma game on ESPN+. I don't know if ESPN does this regularly or this was just because of the Maradona death, but the on-demand game on ESPN+ had a pregame show. It was interesting to see reflections on Maradona, but then they went into a review of games from the weekend in the European leagues which was problematic because it included (for me) a bunch of spoilers from weekend matches I hadn't watched yet in the Bundesliga & the EPL. It is hard to fast forward effectively to avoid the scores because they don't give you a sense for how long the pre-game show is and I didn't want to miss much of the Napoli/Roma match. So I found myself fast forwarding 10 minutes or so and then they would be showing highlights of the Bundesliga match I was saving for later. It would be nice if they just broke up the pre-game into a separate stream. Even if I wasn't worried about the spoilers, not knowing how long the pre-game is makes it hard to get to first half kickoff.
They started doing this about 6 weeks ago, and I was equally frustrated, especially by the spoilers. They start at 2pm ET, and the Serie A game starts at 2:45pm, so if you fast forward by 45 minutes, it should take you to the Serie A anthem and coin flip, and you'll avoid that nonsense.
I would imagine they would. The new season starts just after Christmas, but the schedule doesn't go that far ahead from what I can see. I would check back about a week before Christmas.
All of the 9:30am Bundesliga matches except Mainz-Bielefeld had "technical difficulties" resulting in no live stream. I am not sure how long this problem lasted, but it was at least 20 minutes. I stopped checking because I want to avoid spoilers hoping to catch the Frankfurt-Dortmund match later. It messed up my whole Bundesliga day. So then I go to Serie A and the Lazio match had technical difficulties for the English stream. So I wound up watching it in Spanish. I hope the archived streams are OK.
None of it really makes any sense. If none of the Bundesliga streams worked, I could understand, but the fact that the Lazio stream was in Spanish, but not English makes this feel like something's going on. I know they just had a bunch of layoffs at ESPN. I'm not suggesting anything nefarious was going on, but it wasn't really making sense.
I just checked for the archived streams and all the ones I mentioned above are not listed. I agree that it has to be something on ESPN's side given that it affected two leagues.
I emailed ESPN, they responded they would not be carrying A league matches. I'm hunting around trying to find out who is.
Wow. That sucks. I didn't get to watch many matches, but I almost always watched the A-League highlight show.
Devastated. This was my favorite league to watch. It was so small that you got to know every player. Great production values, half time show, and announcers. Plus this is the only league where fans will be attending matches. This sucks.
I also liked the fact those games started like 5am my time lol. I watched it simply because what else is on at 5am when I'm getting ready for work lol
For the 2019/20 season, all countries that did not have broadcasters showing the matches, had access to live games on the A-League youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5qRwzD58S_sTEoLpl6AzTQ). I would assume that if ESPN did not renew their rights, fans in the US will have free access on youtube. SA www.soccertvblog.com
"Disney’s ESPN Plus will also have a price hike, going up to $13 per month in the US. Disney also announced a bundle subscription that includes Disney +, Hulu, and ESPN Plus for 18 per month. For the record, that’s the ad-free version of Hulu – which costs a little more than the standard (paid) tier of Hulu. The triple bundle that comes with the ad-supported Hulu subscriptions will rise from $13 to $14 per month." https://www.gsmarena.com/disney__to...nternational_streaming_service-news-46712.php I wonder at what point ESPN+ gets broken up into different leagues. Someone who may want it just for one league may not care about the archives of 30for30.
Wait a minute. I'm pretty sure I pay like $5/mo for ESPN+, basically only to watch EFL/FA Cup matches. Are they seriously raising the price of this from $5 to $13???? That can't be.
Actually no the 13.99 is for the bundle. It appears that ESPN+ itself is still 5.99 per month. I think that article is incorrect. Why would the triple ad supported bundle go from 13 to 14 but ESPN+ itself go from 5.99 to 13? lol
Yeah, that whole thing is definitely confusing. ESPN Plus... up to $13 per month in the US. Disney bundle includes Disney +, Hulu, and ESPN Plus for 18 per month. For the record, that’s the ad-free version of Hulu – which costs a little more than the standard (paid) tier of Hulu. The triple bundle that comes with the ad-supported Hulu subscriptions will rise from $13 to $14 per month. I read it as: ESPN+ by itself is $13/mo by itself...but the bundle with ad-supported Hulu to $13 and without ads to $18. I wouldn't be surprised if they really start pushing the bundle hard to get people off other streaming services (Fubo, YouTube TV, Sling) and on to Hulu. But even then, if this ESPN+ price hike is real, just buy the $13 option with ad-supported Hulu and Disney+. (I already have a four-year deal for Disney+, so it looks like I could be hosed. I'd like to eventually tie that in to my Verizon plan and then I'd get the bundle with my unlimited data, assuming the deal is still around in late 2023.) I doubt this is their ultimate endgame.
Damn, its getting so confusing. Someone needs to create a website that's devoted to helping people keep track of all this crap. Might already exist, not sure(?). A simple, basic website would already be helpful but what would be awesome is to have the site connect to your active accounts and show you what you have, what you pay and based on those two things where there may be areas to save (through bundles and deals like the one between Verizon and Disney+).
It's not. I think what happened was in August ESPN+ rose from 4.99 to 5.99 so essentially this price hike is to raise the other stuff by a dollar. ESPN+ is still going to be 5.99 alone.
Checked ESPN+ schedule today, the A League is up. Looks like I got/gave bad info. 1st match on the 27th.
Yes!!!!! This made my day. Great league to watch, the A league. Only a small amount of teams, so you can get into the league very easily.
I know, I lasted 1 month cutting the cord. It was rediculousy frustrating trying to deal with peacock vs regular nbc channels and trying to figure out what is being shown when. Missed the US game because Sling ( it sucks) doesn’t have espn news, and apparently espn+ doesn’t offer that. I upgraded my xfininity to now include cable, dropped sling and save $10 and get nearly everything. what they need is an app ( yes another damn app) whites you can add all your services and it will consolidate them into a one stop guide.. similar to your website idea.
