    Francuska
    Ukrajina
    Finska
    Bosna i Hercegovina
    Kazahstan

There were definitely easier groups we could have drawn. Although, I had no expectations for these qualifiers no matter what the group difficulty would be because I expect this to be a transition to a new generation with younger players.

This cycle should be used to build a team for Euro 2024.

Given that we could have found ourselves in a group with Serbia, Croatia and Russia at the same time and given the fact that they were stronger teams than Ukraine and Finland in their respective pots, we should overall be satisfied. Second place should be the aim BUT this time with ACTUAL proper mental preparation through the qualifiers which we've never had since 1995. Even getting to second place would mean having a near perfect qualifying campaign similar to 2012-2013 which this current team cannot achieve.

Lol you are massivley overrating us

Our curreny crop of players suck. What you think we can get to second place with Cipetic, Todorovic, Ziljkic and Kadusic in the starting 11 lol?

Ukraine thrashed Serbia 5-0 not too long ago ffs

The only team we are favorites against are Kazakhatan and Finland at home.

Realistic aim is 3rd place. This is not the 90s anymore and you cant ad hoc shit in football anymore.

We need build a whole new SYSTEM like Iceland and aim for the future. Unfortunatley guys like Demirovic, Hadzikadunic, Ahmedhodzic and Gazibegovic are still way too green.

We just need to give them NT exposure and cool our jets regarding these qualifiers in which 2nd place is a low possibility and baraz will be impossible to pass.

If I was massively overestimating us, I would say first place should be the aim like some idiots were saying before every qualifying campaign following Brazil 2014. Also I clearly wrote that I don't see this current team of players getting to second place.

With that being said, if even second place is no longer the aim then what are we competing for exactly? Let's abolish football in Bosnia altogether then instead of playing dumb.

Honestly our opponents are not that difficult. I cant believe everyone is throwing in the flag before the first whistle has even been blown yet. I can see us honestly fighting for 1st position. Would not surprise me if we end up getting 2nd. Anything below 2nd will hurt more than these Uefa Nation Leagues losses + the Euro Losses.

    France:
Away I think we could pull away with a tie or loss
Home I believe we will get a tie or win

    Ukraine:
    Away Win or tie
    Home Win for sure

    Finland:
    Away Win for sure
    Home Win for sure

    Kazak (Borats):
    Away Win 7-1
    Home Win 9-0

I wouldn't be THAT optimistic either but second place should be an aim, not simply "preparing for the Euros" which means nothing and is a code word for "we will treat qualifying games as friendlies" and "we will try to avoid losing" which is the way this team has been treating qualifiers for the most part since 2014 with the expected disastrous outcomes.

Preparing for the Euros means several things imo.

    • make the new manager’s goal to be to qualify for Euro 2024; important so he can feel free to focus on giving chances to younger players in this cycle and build a system rather than focus on results right away (because no matter what people think, we’re extremely unlikely to finish in top 2 with our strongest team).

    • build a squad for the future; it’s time for a generation change. We don’t need to see players like Demirović not being called up. Give chances to younger players even if they may not be ready yet for the NT (Hasić, Gazibegović, etc.) because their alternatives are older and don’t have the quality to qualify anyways. This will build cohesion between the young players who will be here 10 years from now playing together.

    • begin calling up more diaspora; it doesn’t make sense how the savez hasn’t taken action yet to call up a player like Gigović. An 18 yo midfielder who transferred to the Russian league (one of the best leagues in Europe) to the same team as Hadžikadunić. He’s getting good minutes already. But players from much weaker leagues and clubs, who are older and have less potential, get chances over him. Why is it that? And there’s many more examples besides Gigović.

This is what I mean by building a squad for the Euros. This nucleus of players has failed repeatedly to do well in qualifiers since 2014 and it’s time we build something new.

'Extremely unlikely' no, even by our standards, we would have been considered heavy favorites to finish second in such a group a mere 2-3 years ago.

All of what you said can be done while still actually fighting for second place, these measures are not mutually exclusive. Even with this terrible group of players, we still beat Finland 4-1 about a year ago and got two draws against Italy and Holland subsequently. To give up on second place because oh we are focusing on the Euros is criminally irresponsible when your main opponents are Ukraine (we could have had Poland, Switzerland or Sweden from that pot) and Finland (a team we beat 4-1 in 2019 and we could have had Russia, Hungary or Iceland from their pot). I'd much rather play against Ukraine and Finland then any one of those other teams I mentioned, none of which I would be confident we could get more than 1 point over 2 games.

I made a 100-player depth pool that the NT could potentially count upon in the coming cycle. Post it on your social accounts, spread the word, and share it with the world.

Players in bold are uncapped. Best additions from those not already in our ranks would be Gigović, I. Šunjić, and Raguž. The FA and management need to go all out to bring these three into the fold.

EDIT: Won't let me display it here for some reason. Here's the link: https://i.imgur.com/lrq35i3_d.webp?maxwidth=1520&fidelity=grand

Plenty of talent there. Now time to select the right manager to take us forward and move in the right direction as we build a renewed competitive team for the next few years.

Should be sent to the FA tbh, there has to be at least ONE competent person in the organization.

I don't know if you guys have been following whats happening with our FA right now but it's going back to the pre suspension days with how they will organize and structure the savez. It's going to get a lot worse from here on out if they stick with it. Ivica Osim has already been kicked out of the savez. I can see this qualifying cycle being a shit show and personally if I was Dzeko or Pjanic I would consider not playing in the upcoming cycle with how things are turning out. I think we will finish 4th or 5th in this group, thats my prediction.

or they could speak out, convince every other player to boycott national team matches, get league players to boycott the league as well, ask supporters to harass the savez, etc. They're the biggest sporting icons and wield a lot of power, but they just stay quiet because they're comfortable and don't give a shit.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To this point Matić and Vidić have done a lot to push the Serbian FA towards not being complete pieces of shit. Džeko and Spahić/Misimović could probably do something similar if they really wanted to. At the end of the day the players ultimately empower those pieces of shit at the top because they rely on them for revenue. Would be a great moment for our country but don’t see it happening. I feel like Džeko should’ve already spoken out or Spahić/Misimović.

Exactly, they don't seem to be the most vocal guys so I doubt they will do any of that. Only guys that might are Spahic and Misimovic

only time i can remember dzeko getting even midely political was when some baby died in a hosiptal because the governemnt didn't pass some legislation, but there was huge public out cry and protests in the country when that happened. so, not like that required much courage or conviction from dzeko

That was a political issue, when have Dzeko or Pjanic ever spoken out when it mattered about football issues?

Football in Bosnia is a political issue. I'm saying they don't speak out, probably because they don't care.

Football is indeed a political issue but my point was that speaking out when some baby died in a hospital because the governemnt didn't pass some legislation as Dzeko apparently did once has absolutely nothing to do with football.

Barbarez & Jakirovic are top candiates for the NT job

    https://www.klix.ba/sport/nogomet/b...razgovor-za-posao-selektora-zmajeva/201218143

Just goes to show how much of a shit position we are in as we can't even get a half decent manager to take over this NT.

Barbarez is the logical choice here despite his lack of experience. Jakirovic would be a good awful choice - when you can't win the Slovenian league with Maribor you know you are shit.

Also Jakirovic would be another Herceg Croat football mafia appointment and essentially relegate our NT to be a base for agent selections from our neighbour.

Barbarez despite his lack of experience is actually a patriot and would be able to motivate our players well. He would do a much better job than Prosinecki & Bajevic anyhow.

Barbarez is a risky pick in many ways, then again so is every other candidate.
