Did he actually get the assist? Google lists it as unassisted... likely because a defender got a slight touch on the pass. It would suck if he didn't get credit for it. It was a fantastic sequence. He made a perfect contested flick-on header to start the play then got the ball back and penetrated into the 18 for what I would surely call a game-tying assist.
Yeah that would suck. In any event, I'm sure his coaches and teammates look at it as an assist. Looks to me like he was passing it to the trailing player who was wide open. I'm thinking if the defender didn't get a cleat on it it likely would have been a goal anyways. Great play all the way around, the long switch to get it started was class also.
i feel like psv fans really buy the hype on some uber talented guys that frankly have looked pretty meh every time i’ve watched them
yeah if they truly are down on him it is very surprising to me...given what he's done with scant chances..... then again, PSV really isn't what it used to be...maybe the collective negativity is bringing that club down....
Transfermarkt officially does NOT give him an assist on that play. Ridiculous. They probably just take whatever the official scorers report so I guess the blame goes to whatever dope watches that play and says he doesn't deserve the credit for the assist. Lame.
Of course he gets the assist but it did come off a defenders foot. So we all know he generated it but doesnt get the credit. It as a good sequence
Yeah, it is a bummer those types of passes which are just nudged by a defender aren’t assists. Fun last 20 minutes of the game to watch Ladezma and Uly.
Is this one of those "nobody" things like in the Odyssey?* But maybe with Brexit looming, England doesn't count as Europe, so never mind. *I know it's "noman", you pedants.
Coach Schmidt: “Richard Ledezma and Joël Piroe scored the second goal together. They were good substitutions. Our substitutes are always important to us.”
Who cares what the coach thinks, tell me what Dutch internet rando who lost his girlfriend to an exchange student from Cleveland thinks!
"When Ledezma makes minutes for PSV, I always do a Twitter search to explore the wonderful world of American football twitter. Rarely disappoints." Als Ledezma minuten maakt voor PSV doe ik altijd even een Twitter search om de wondere wereld van Amerikaans voetbaltwitter te verkennen. Stelt zelden teleur. https://t.co/sd5qxSVltn— Janna (@jannadw_) December 6, 2020
I believe OPTA does not award assists if there is a deflection by a defender. However, many fantasy sites, including the FPL for the premier league, do award assists when there is a slight deflection that does not significantly alter the path of the ball.
two things are true: ihatteran is looked at as one of the next big things in dutch football and he has zero production so far this season while xg/xa numbers basically confirm that.
Yup. I have not been impressed this season w/ Ihatteran... and he has been super hyped. It got me wondering as to whether the #10 jersey is as special in the Eredivisie as it is in many other leagues... if it is then giving it to an 18-year-old tells you everything you need to know about how PSV views him.
He is one of our top talents. Just look at the highlights of last season. This season under the new manager he has been in conflict, because coach Schmidt found/judged his workrate in training too low, so he had only three starting spots so far of which two were in the EL. He also has limited minutes sofar, of which only once in his favourite spot, the attacking midfielder. So it's no surprise his numbers are low. For the full trottle soccer of Schmidt you really need a huge stamina. PSV/Ihattaren arenot in that spot yet, as the matches against fc Twente and sc Heerenveen proved. In both matches PSV were superior in the first half, tearing the opponent apart. In the second half around the 60 minutes the team is gassed out and collapsed. He's also just a young guy who lost his father last year after a long sick bed and probably (he had a very close bond with him) that has to do with his sub optimal attitude/performance as well. To illustrate that bond I can tell you this. The Dutch were afraid he was going to follow Ziyech into the Moroccan team and boy was the Moroccan FA pulling on him. He however chose the Orange team as a tribute to his father, because he was greatful for the way the Dutch healthcare treated his father and felt obligated to choose the Orange shirt. I'm sure his dad and his mother had a hand in that choice. So yes, he's been sub par this season for what he's capable of, but donot mistake a dip with no quality. Edit: PSV just recently extended his contract to the max length of his age.
We laugh at that. Two months ago (about) in Belgium a young woman was on trial for attempt to murder a Dutch 72 year old for stealing her boyfriend. We're hot and sexy. Deal with that.
