So we're going to play a team that we've beaten three straight times this year, and then if we advance, we play a team that we've gone winless against 5 times this year.

The odds for this would be interesting.

I'm just going to enjoy the games. I don't expect us to win the cup by any stretch, so I won't get all nervous. I'll just celebrate watching the Rev's and deal with whatever comes what may. Then I'll get exited about the offseason as we continue our rebuild.

Hopefully, we emerge more strongly as a team and hopefully the virus will be under control enough for us to return to the stands -sometime around spring.

Congratulations to Matt Turner on being named one of 3 finalists for MLS Goalkeeper of the Year:

Kessler loses out on MLS change to the award - too bad for him. It does feel like MLS could have introduced this new award and kept Rookie of the Year at least through the end of this year.

The Revs had a .07 PPG improvement over last season. But if you take away the Friedel games, they have regressed compared to the 2nd half of last season.

Let's hope the Revs have used the extra off week to fine-tune their attack - would be nice to play with a lead.

2nd in MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting - yet that seems to understate his accomplishments this season.

Buchanan, Kessler, Jones, and Turner all coming through the collegiate soccer route just goes to show that there is still value in the Draft. It's obviously very hit or miss, but it can be huge for team building if you hit on a couple. The Revs are positioned very well for the next several years based on their successes in finding talented young domestic players.

Very very hit or miss. Sometimes the "miss" goes on for years. But right now, Revs are on a "hit" extended wave, which is good.

I'm certainly loathe to give Friedel or Burns credit for anything, but picks like Buchanan, Jones and Bye; recognizing that Turner had the potential that he had to be a starter; signing Gil - the team wouldn't be on this run without those moves. So kudos to them for that. Burns was still an atrocious GM and Friedel was still a horrendous manager, but they didn't leave the cupboard completely bare.

Turner's path to where he is now is still amazing to me. Undrafted preseason trialist during the Heaps era. Product of a lower tier DI school. Decent career at Fairfield, but not an All-American or first team All-League player. Did well in the PDL. But nothing in his pre-MLS career indicated he would be a top prospect for MLS and possibly a move to Europe. All the time he spent on loan at Richmond clearly did enough to convince Revs brass they shouldn't cut him, but in 2016 and 2017 he was far more likely to be the next Trevor Spangenberg than the next Matt Reis. His rise has been nothing short of astonishing.

this is not a complete list as I don't see our biggest bust Leandro de Oliveira on the listed but here are the Revs Draft Picks according to WIKI. That said guys that played more than 20 games for the Revs with an *. Looks to be about 32 out of 107

Clearly we should try to draft players whose name begins with J or T -- 6 of 7 "made it" and two were arguably the best players ever on the team.:alien:

In seriousness, what a fun list to read through -- a lot of memories. There are a few names that I don't recollect at all in the list; does it maybe include the old secondary draft or draftees who never signed?

ya not all players out of college signed with the Revs. Some like White went overseas for a few years then came back. Others just never made the cut or chose a different career path. Also includes supplemental picks

Players drafted after the first round were always long-shots, I don't think anyone ever disputed that (even of those 2nd round and beyond who did make, many only fell that far because of injury-concerns or worry about them being interested in signing with MLS - ex. some guy name Shalrie something-or-other).

The percentage of first-rounders is no doubt much higher.

Some of those names are pretty interesting - there's some I don't even remember and I've considered myself a revs-draft-geek.

Forty percent of the Revs roster came to MLS through the SuperDraft.

Of the 30 players on the current roster (never thought I'd see the day they had a full roster):
    SuperDraft - 12
    Home Grown - 6
    International - 8
Other - 4 (undrafted free agents, weighted lottery)

Nobody tops the Revs when it comes to players picking different career paths.

If 'situation' is a factor, the Bou's stoppage time winner vs. Montreal ends the discussion for me.
