This thread was started before the pandemic was a concern in the US, but yes, with the pandemic closing most stadiums, there it isn't very important now. *shrug*
It's so sad that they couldn't play that historic game in front of 69,000 people. On the other hand there wouldn't have been a play-in game in a normal season.
No guarantee that would've gotten a huge crowd. Many MLS teams have smaller crowds in the playoffs...
Looks like orlando didn't report attendance, but looked like a big crowd. Does Columbus no longer allow the 1,500?
The point of this thread is in its use of attendance as a proxy to view the health of the League. 2020 is such an aberration that it is meaningless in this context. Whether games have 0, 1,500, or 3,500 people in the stands is literally meaningless other than an insight into the respective state of lockdown in a region.
I think the thread still has a point. Though it will more likely be a discussion of when and to what degree fans return, and what that means for the health of the league. Rather than the raw numbers every week. Which, was kind of the original point of the thread. It really sucks for teams in their first season (Nashville) or teams with new stadiums (Minnesota), ot both (Inter Miami). Next year, Austin, Cincy, and Columbus will be similarly disadvantaged. By the end of the year hopefully it will be full swing again.
