Yes, I've already started the thread. But, you know, it's been awhile...

The US will play the Netherlands on November 27, 2020, in their final game of 2020 (confirming that there's no game in December, but possibly a camp). The game will be played at Rat Verlegh Stadion in Breda, Netherlands without any fans in the stadium. It will be shown at 12:30 pm ET (6:30 local time) on ESPN2 and TUDN. A six-day training camp will precede the game.

I suspect the roster will be announced soon.

The roster is scheduled to drop tomorrow morning, but until then, we have info from Meg Linehan's source:

If you can't see the tweet, Europe-based players will be coming in plus some from the previous camp (Macario, Smith, and K Mewis). Naeher, Bledsoe, and Campbell are rumored to be the goalkeepers on the roster as Andonovski looks for his #2 keeper.

First an important note: Macario is still finishing all the paperwork and will not be on the game-day roster. 18 players will be chosen for the game day roster.

According to Andonovski on the media call, Pugh and Lloyd are still recovering from injuries. Rapinoe hasn't trained and would not be ready to go after just a 6 day training camp. But, all three are still in the mix for January camp.

And now comparing this roster to the 2019 WWC roster:
New: Campbell, Bledsoe, Cook, Purce, K Mewis, Macario, Williams, Smith, Hatch
Dropped: Franch, Harris, Krieger, Brian, Long, Pugh, Lloyd, Rapinoe, McDonald

And if we compare it to the last USWNT roster (way back in March at SheBelieves):
New: Campbell, Bledsoe, Cook, Purce, K Mewis, Macario, Smith, Hatch
Dropped: Franch, Harris, Krieger, Short, Sullivan, Lloyd, McDonald, Rapinoe

Andonovski does say that some players who are still in the mix for the Olympic roster did not make this trip (like the three mentioned above). And he's definitely trying to deepen the GK pool. But, we're starting to see the direction he's headed.

Also there's an interesting note on the roster in the USSF article: if Sophia Smith makes her debut, she'll be the first USWNT player born after the 1999 WWC to play. That makes me feel old.

More notes from the media call with Andonovski:
-There's about 6 goalkeepers in the pool that the staff are working with. Harris and Franch are not out of the picture. Murphy is the 6th goalkeeper in the pool.
-Pugh is on track to be recovered from her injury in 2-3 weeks.
-According to their data, Lavelle is 90 minutes fit.
-On Macario: "“We felt like with the quality of the player that she is, this is a good opportunity for her to come in and spend time with the national team. In a way, we wanted to invest in her future so we make her transition to this team as seamless as possible when she’s ready to play games.”
-Morgan is 45-60 minutes fit: "“In this particular instance with Alex, we’re not looking as much into her performance; we’re looking more at her getting quality minutes. I know the quality that Alex has. She’s already proved she’s a quality player and that she can make an impact on this time.”

Marcario listed as a midfielder is interesting.
Can't wait her play with this team and with the current midfielders we have. hopefully soon

I’m fairly certain Pinoe is done. Lloyd has been injured, Pinoe just hasn’t played based on a personal decision. That decision is absolutely fine and hers to make, but don’t think it’s a great indicator or her likelihood to play internationally any time soon. She is also a big enough icon at this point that she doesn’t need to be a USWNT player anymore. I assume her book is killing it and wouldn’t be surprised to see her work to get into some sort of political or leadership type position.

isn't she a ready made lloyd replacement? fitting in both as a mid and as a forward?

... the kind of player they always emphasize when picking olympic rosters!

Perhaps, I'll be excited to see how she develops at the WNT - she's more technical at this age than Lloyd but also has a better nose for the goal. I wonder if they want to groom her as a true 10, something we really haven't had since... a younger Akers? Although... perhaps Sam, Horan and Rose all play the 10 better than almost all WNT players we've had in 20 years?

This midfield is going to be so fun to watch for the next cycle +.

Last time I saw Rapinoe play, she looked slow and unable to compete at international speed for long. I doubt another year has changed anything for the better. Same thing for Lloyd. Its time to hang them up I think. To both.... dont make the coach give you a Wambach.... You've had your time... its over.

Same thing goes for the mens team. There are a few names from the past that should be phased out now.

The testing was a part of the pre-trip testing protocols, which I think means she was either asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic. In any case, I hope that it's a mild case, and she recovers quickly.

Historically, about this time of the year, 4-6 NFL Teams are looking for new kickers - - - probably play both for a while.

Look for the COVID-19 virus to quickly exit Lindsey's Bod or suffer a humiliating, crushing defeat.

If called upon, Jaelin will take no guff from those Western Europeans.

Are they putting Macario through some sort of Chinese water torture" (sorry, if that's politically incorrect) She's lived in the US since she was about 12; she went to a US University. Can't FIFA be a little less draconian in allowing players to choose their country?

From my understanding, it's just paperwork, so I think it's less FIFA being harsh than just the burden of red tape.

Also, I think her making this trip is a sign that the paperwork is probably close to being done. If I had to wager a bet, I'd say she might be eligible by next game (of course, we have no idea when that is...)

Do to be watered down NWSL schedules & very few of the newbies looking all that impressive, just don’t get why there’s not actually more college kids chosen?
Consider this; English players might of made only maybe 1-2% of all college players last year, but from the few that graduated last year; Russo, Mcliver, Wubbon-Moy, Fisk all have become major players in England’s WSL league. In my book, Russo, who shares the striker spot with Christen Press at Man U, looks so much more impressive than Press. Mcliver had quietly become quietly the league’s top GK, her unheralded Everton squad that’s currently ahead of the likes of super stacked Chelsea & Man City(which has more than half of England’s NT’s plus Mewis & Laevelle). Wubbon-Moy might be the best defensive CB in the the whole darn league.
So just saying if England could produce such phenom players with so few from our college ranks, why can’t the US do it too with something like 93% of college players are domestic?

    ————————————————————-————
On the Euro front; so far Morgan & Laevelle been flops(neither starts) Press been so-so, Heath & Mewis done better(though Mewis MC squad languishes in 5th place)
Cook hasn’t been an regular starter over at PSG. a few none picked USWNT college grads playing in the Bundesliga; Kornieck & Beucom(Colorado U) getting decent stats over at Duisburg, but there team’s way down in 11th place. Nally(college???) looks quite good at FB for the surprise team of the Bundesliga; Turbine Potsdam. Heard Sonnett’s squad won the Swedish league(just don’t follow that league to know more)

Do you mean the American government's favorite pastime, waterboarding? The FIFA rules actually just changed to be less severe. Remember, Macario wasn't a US citizen and is just going through that process now and neither parent is from USA.

Press, Heath, Mewis have played very well. Morgan was injured. Lavelle hadn't regularity played in months. The American girls went to EU leagues so they could start to get their legs back. NWSL is still a deeper talent pool (top to bottom) than any league in EU, even with the huge club names and huge amounts of money now pumped into Barca, Chelsea, etc. Not sure how long this will last, but it's certainly true now.
Howell is an incredible player, btw, she will shine.

Macario became a US citizen on October 8. She is waiting for FIFA to agree that she came to the US (a long time ago) not just to play soccer.
