Didn't hear about Northwestern until this. That's a big one open

Tim Lenahan did one of the greatest program builds in college soccer history.

Check out what it was before he got there.

That we now consider Northwestern a big opening is testament to what Lenahan did.

Great school, incredible location. Still only about 60% athletic scholarship funded which is one of the few drawbacks. Even so, it will attract a lot of interest.

Mike Avery should be in the mix for Northwestern ....... whether he will be or not is up for grabs.

I would guess Charles Rodriguez from Yale as well, pretty sure he was considered for both Harvard and BU.

Robert Morris has offered the job to a bunch of people and have been turned down by everyone so now they are bringing new people on campus.
Expect former Appalachian State coach to be named, but could be a current power five assistant as well with ties to AD.

UTRGV is down to final on campus interviews, looks like former Navy coach Dave Brant as most likely to be named. It is rumored Radford head coach as other finalist and a power 5 assistant.

I hope Bryheem gets it! Good guy but hasn't had the success expected...yet. Also would create another opening for the coaching mary-go-round

Mike Bohonick from Pitt - #1 in nation, First ever NCAA Win, impressive resume

David Janazic from St. Johns should be in mix, NJIT, FDU and St. John's (Sweet 16) all made NCAA.. Impressive track record rebuilding programs.

The Yale assistant should be considered for a Head Coaching position in the Big Ten ? Not sure that is a normal or logical career progression.

I think the academic prowess of both schools would attract the same type of player or have a similar pitch, hence the logical jump.

Not to mention he won 2 national championships when he was on staff at Stanford, spent 3 years on staff at Xavier and had a pretty good playing career as well.

Are we forgetting maybe the local, Chicago coaches who have all been successful in their own right and not to mention some who worked at Northwestern as well?

UIC - Sean Phillips (didn't work at NU but has Big10 experience and success as a HC in the Horizon League)
Loyola - Neil Jones (worked at NU and success as a HC in Missouri Valley)
DePaul - Mark Plotkin (worked at NU)

Obviously there are other coaches (Assistants and Heads) around the country that have worked at NU and are looking to make that jump to a Big10 head job.

I would also guess that Andy Fleming at Xavier would be very interested in this. He was at Northwestern as an assistant and has had success as a head coach at Xavier.

Good for Jason. Good coach and an even better guy. Glad he was able to find a decent landing spot.

He's retiring at the end of the year. So it will be open in April if they don't already have something arranged by then.

The Northwestern job is a bit unique if, "onewhoknows" post of 60% funding of program by University is accurate. 6.0 vs. 9.9 scholarships in the Big Ten is quite
delta to overcome, especially when you are trying to get kids admitted to the U.S.'s #8(?) ranked academic Univ. On top of that, NW is the only private ($70K tuition) school in Big Ten. This scenario would certainly limit your recruiting talent pool? Current Head Coaching experience with knowledge of landscape may be helpful? NW had some success last year, and in the past so not impossible, just a bit more challenging? Great school in a great location in a great conference.
