I was hoping for one last display of utter incompetence by Freddy and even with the snow he looked out of his league. He only used 3 subs. 3. In the last game of the season, in the snow, he couldn’t even let the kids play in a meaningless snow game. I’m so sick of Dunny defending this guy I want to puke. It’s always the players with him. You have to work harder in practice. WTF is this, High School? If you can’t figure out how to motivate professional athletes and the only way you will sub them in is if they run around a lot in practice and other BS then you don’t deserve to be coaching professionals. My disgust for Freddy is only tempered because 2020 but he has no business coaching in MLS any more than I do.
we finished 11th on PPG and points in the West. we scored 25 goals and conceded 35 we finished 3-4-3 at home: A LOSING RECORD we finished 1-5-3 away. This was our second worst point total to finish a season and third worst PPG to finish a season* FIRE FREDDY * In 2005 we finished with 20 points at 0.63 ppg In 2007 we finished with 27 points at 0.90 ppg
If I'm one of the following players, I ask my agent to put in a transfer request so long as Freddy is still manager. What an absolutely wasted year for these guys. Arriaga Garcia* Iloski Jones Morgan Ochoa Ramirez Vazquez
I can not rep this enough. RSL also finished the last 8 games of the season with only 4 points. At the beginning of the end and the last 8 games they had 18 points and were right there in the thick of things, according to Dunny's vivid imagination, and then went: Loss Loss Loss Win Tie Loss Loss Loss From what I gathered listening to the last few broadcasts is that all of this is can be laid directly at the feet of the players who didn't work hard enough in practice to earn the trust of their coach. what a crock Dunny! Not once did he ever really come close to suggesting that coaching was a problem in any way. Even though he still tries to maintain that this is the deepest RSL team ever. I think I'm more pissed now in the offseason than I was watching this shit show. That is a disaster. This season is a disaster. You can cut them some slack for the ownership BS but not much else. Every other team went through some crap in 2020 and some even more. Look at the Canadian teams and the massive amount of time away from home and they all did better than RSL. This team needs new ownership now. DLH is going to be the death of this team. As I was watching Philly win the supporter shield and listening to them go on and on about what a model team they are with how the use their money wisely and have relied on their academy I couldn't help but think how that used to be RSL and how far this team has fallen under DLH and Freddy. What a shame.
So, looks like a pretty much nailed it on getting into the playoffs with the 30 points call. Even with 1 less game. I think with the amount of games the CRapids had to possibly make up they would easily beat the 30 point mark. In the end RSL when from 6 points from the top to 17 mother freaking points from the top and settled in just 1 mother freaking point from the bottom. That took quite a bit of effort, or lack there of, especially in their practice sessions from what I have been lead to believe. I'm still beset by irrational fury just thinking about RSL at the moment. I know, I know, it's a throwaway season for them and at least 7 other teams that found themselves outside the playoffs but damn. I'm not ready for the season to really be over. I was getting used to the laughs every week and the exasperation waiting, and waiting for Freddy to make a ridiculous sub in the 88th minute to protect a 2 goal deficit. For the sake of discussion San Jose picked up 16 mother freaking points in the last 9 games, they played 9 games to RSL's 8. Thanks CRapids. No really, thanks. I think. San Jose went from the bottom of the table on September 8 to the playoffs in 8 games considering that the west was locked up last week. Impressive. They went from 4 points behind RSL to 8 points above them. Nice run of form there. They also did that in 8 games considering that they lost the last one. FREDDY. NEEDS. TO. GO. Hopefully if we ever get a new owner a new coach is the first thing on the list for them to take care of. Fingers crossed.
coach shouldn't be priority #1 for a new owner the new owner(s) should prioritize filing in the front office first. Then, with a vision for the club as a whole, look for a coach that can execute that. And then continue down the pyramid to the Monarchs and the Academy. Also worth noting: The Royals look to be in need of an enema, as well.
If we're honest, the team never came back after they and the LA FC refused to play in order to stand for racial solidarity following the shooting of Jacob Blake. Regardless of where you stand on the summer's marches, movement, and unrest, RSL never really played after that. DLH made his stupid comments and the toxic culture he fostered fully came to light. But the team ended the season when they cancelled the LA FC match. Sure they still played games after that, but that was the day the season ended. Freddy was in over his head. He had a poor roster and then proceeded to play it even worse. Young players withered on the roster. There were no opportunities to get minutes with the senior or USL team. Whether due to COVID restrictions or whatever, they got little game or developmental time. 2020 was a cluster***k for the entire organization. And the worst part is it can still get worse. The new owners could up and move the team so the final images of 16 years of memories will be the team being blown away in the howling winds of a blizzard.
https://www.rsl.com/post/2020/11/08/quote-sheet-rsl-0-2-skc I didn't watch the game but I did just see this... On playing in the snow: "... I wish we would’ve won it for you guys. It changed the whole game. Tactics go out the window, it just becomes a grind and you have to take advantage of opportunities.” Tactics go out the window? Did Freddy not open his weather app all week? Everyone in the valley knew it was going to start coming down...
