He's got a thread! There's not a lot in it, so if you know something about him other folks might be interested in learning, please do share... https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/gianfranco-decarne-in-northern-ireland.2109299/
This is a super-inefficient way of looking at this, but this page is the full list of players with American nationality in FBRef. Unfortunately for our purposes it includes both men and women and players listed with clubs in past years. But at least it's easy to scan! (Hopefully I'll find a better way to refine/search this site.) https://fbref.com/en/country/players/USA/United-States-Football-Players
Not that we ever really rolled with this, but a well-placed source informs me that, as suspected, he's not American.
Abu Kamara I'll add this one here. Only a TM reference to US citizenship (which is complicated by a TM listing for a Liberian player of the same name -- and we know of occasional confusion between the 2 flags): 1319721281252708354 is not a valid tweet id His Norwich profile says nada: https://www.canaries.co.uk/academy/U18-Team/midfielder/abu-kamara/
Not sure if this has been posted before or if this is exactly the right place but it might help with confirming some players. It seems like wayback machine has a decent amount of old DA stuff archived back until the 08/09 season. https://web.archive.org/web/20080901210603/http://ussda.demosphere.com:80/Profiles/index_E.html
I've tried on several occasions to try to figure out why this is (the first time I saw it, I guessed it was a Tomkinson-related error) and haven't been able to figure anything out, to my frustration.
T'Markt says an '01 named Jannick Liburd at SønderjyskE was born in Houston. Of course, he'd be a teammate of Haji Wright's at the club... https://www.transfermarkt.de/jannick-liburd/profil/spieler/610603 https://www.soenderjyske.dk/ He lists Houston as his hometown on Facebook. A woman who appears to be his mother worked in Houston for a while, so the dots may connect.
Santiago Munoz....not sure if this guy has a thread so I will place this here.1323721307519963136 is not a valid tweet id
He's not a great fit for this thread -- we know he's a Yank, and we know where he is club-wise -- but there are definitely several places he is being discussed. (If you're interested in discussing multi-national YNT players generally, check the Youth National Teams forum!) https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/santiago-muñoz-at-santos-laguna.2085994/
Shouldnt he be in yanks abroad? He has already played for the first team of Club Santos. Surely because he is a dual nat should not keep him from it. Soto is still being wooed by Chile.
He does have a thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/santiago-muñoz-at-santos-laguna.2085994/#post-36986850 If you tried to find him by "Munoz," note that the BS search function has to have the correct accent marks so "Munoz" won't yield a "Muñoz." I've requested that he be moved to YA, but some people seem to have me on ignore (*cough* @bungadiri *cough* @TheFalseNine *cough*).
I've got a bet going with some of the other mods on who can rack up the most alerts, so I always delay until I get one or two mentions.
T'markt says a '99 named Viktor Kravets playing in Belarus is a dual citizen of that country and the U.S. I couldn't immediately find anything that would confirm this, though he does appear based on social media and other information to have lived here for a while, so it's certainly possible. http://www.skylinesoccer.org/skyline-international-player-signs-western-nebraska-community-college/
Whatever may be the story with Bassong, he's signed with Montreal, which lists him only as Canadian/Belgian. https://www.impactmontreal.com/en/post/2020/12/01/montreal-impact-acquires-defender-zorhan-bassong
Noticed this on twitter, and it seems to be some random guy saying it but thought I'd post this here any ways..... 1335301635937955840 is not a valid tweet id 1335302528720769025 is not a valid tweet id 1335303260509335552 is not a valid tweet id Jamal Musiala US eligible?
The (quite reasonable) question raised by @BostonRed aside, after a bit of searching, it doesn't seem that this information was sitting anywhere easily findable. I found what appear to be both parents' names and neither one led me easily to a story/link/etc. that would support a U.S. connection. (Usual disclaimer: My inability to find something quickly doesn't mean it's not out there.)
T'Markt says a guy named Mouhamed Kouyate who moved recently from Idar-Oberstein's second team to SV Gottscheid is German-American. https://www.facebook.com/SV05Goettschied/photos/a.332424447275767/886287388556134/?type=3 https://www.transfermarkt.de/mouhamed-kouyate/profil/spieler/756729 FuPa has him scoring regularly for them. https://www.fupa.net/spieler/mouhamed-kouyate-851552.html
This still has some of the same issues, but it now shows (what it says are) the players who are currently active in boldface. Still the most efficient way to search this database that I have found, however. https://fbref.com/en/country/players/USA/United-States-Football-Players
My skepticism was well founded. Turns out Jonathan Tomkinson confirmed he isn't eligible: He is not eligible for USA. JT asked him about it at Norwich. Abu doesn’t know where that came from. He’s a good young player and steadily making his way at Norwich.— David Tomkinson (@davito1973) December 19, 2020
He's a Yank: https://www.ncsasports.org/mens-soc...ore-mattei--liceo-scientifico-/alex-hathaway2 I've grown up playing soccer in Italy but am a dual US/Italian citizen. I am motivated to go to college in the United States because I believe that studying in the USA will provide me with a competitive advantage in the job market, half of my family is in the USA and I think that my abilities on the soccer field will contribute positively to a competitive college team. My current team is the Italian 4th division team ("Serie D") US Fiorenzuola 1922 where I play as an outside midfielder, either left or right as I'm comfortable playing with both feet.
Transfermarkt says Shayan Khademi playing for Machine Sazi Tabriz in the Iranian 1st division is Iranian-American. It looks like he spent two years playing college ball at Lafayette before heading overseas.
This site says a '95 named Aziz Khan who played at Amherst and is now possibly in Portugal is Gambian-American, though he appears to be a Gambian native who came to the U.S. for school. He may well be a citizen though I haven't tracked that detail down. http://www.playmakerstats.com/player.php?id=782116&epoca_id=0&search=1 https://www.gazettenet.com/Amherst-men-s-soccer-Aziz-Khan-6164354 http://www.bhpanel.org/khan-leaves-bh-for-pro-soccer/
Do we know if Valentin Sabella who was at Charlotte Independence is a citizen or not? Transfermarkt says he is and that he just signed in the Mexican second division.
