It’s my understanding that Krumbiegel did get picked too since Lattwein dropped out today

If MVT was going to pick anyone from WOB. It should of been Wedermeyer. If you look at their league stats Wolter played 318 out of a possible 540 minutes this season/only 750 mins last season
Wedermeyer’s stats are 360 minutes this season, 1075 last season. In fact, she even got Rauch beat by two minutes so far this year, plus she can either do CB or FB whereas Wolter only plays in the all ready over saturated midfield

new news alert; lil Leo Maier is injured, got to drop out too. So now maybe Wedermeyer? It be funny though if Potsdam beats Wolfsburg this Sunday, yet no one from that club is on the NT

England has cancelled the game against Germany after a positive corona test in their staff.

Sad to see this, but most likely cancelled due to being an friendly since all 14 recent Euro qualifiers went on without an hitch. Too bad as this match featuring two giants going at each other instead of the predictable/one sided games we’ve seen from the Euro qualifiers played with little fanfare(as streamed, live game links were impossible to find).
Personally I thought Germany might loose this one if England was coached by an more aggressive manager than Phil Neville, as I doubt the CB partnership of Hegering & Oberdorf could of held off what looked like several new emerging strikers out of England(though would of Neville used them?)
It would of answer the question if having what’s now got to be considered the best woso league in the world would of made England’s NT so much better? It’s right now inconclusive as previous best league NWSL has somewhat responsible for the US winning the last two WC’s, but then Holland dominating Europe, despite having a rather weak league counters that point.
Of course it would of been interesting to see where Germany stands in the pecking order; I mean it’s still got its #2 ranking but two successive major tournament failures means they got their work cut out for them to stay viable where it really counts. But then don’t really get German mentality as why they haven’t fired Jorge Low yet, after the men’s NT has fallen all the way down to #14?

Are their players just young and don't have much caps in the NT?

that’s the thing with MVT, she got rid of a lot of vets in favor of youth on the Swiss NT, even though the vets got them at least in the 2015 WC.
So take it many(including my beloved JoJo Elsig) are on the way out.

Got to agree somewhat that after two failed major tourneys, Germany needs some spice in there, but despite all the newcomers, their still missing an world class striker(as to why is an club midfielder, Popp, is the central striker on the NT?). With Popp out on injury, who’s going to take her place? Hopefully not another midfielder(as that would prove my point). Got the feeling it will be Buhl. And of it is, then who will take Buhl’s place at left side winger? Like to see Krumbiegel get that spot, but keep in mind that their playing the weaker Greece side today, so could be the B squad in there anyways

    here's the full game

MVT decided to mix the A & B squad members in her starting lineup. Quite a few names like Oberdorf, Lohmann, Huth, Hendrich didnt even play in this game, so look for them to possibly start next Tuesday vs Ireland. With an first half hatrick, obviously Freigang did quite well in place of Popp as central stiker. Krumbiegel got an goal & an assist in only 15 minutes of playing time as an sub. The more physical Lattwein started at CB, which was pleasent surprise cuz was expecting Oberdorf(she can't defend(, but there wasn't really any offence coming out of the Greeks. Dabritz was a bit disappointing as she missed a couple of easy sitters, but she kept getting switched left to right winger with Buhl(she really needs to stay at mid). Lil Leo & Rauch wouldn't of been my choices at FB(or at least vs stronger teams).
Don't know if Ireland still has a chance for an 2nd place spot to qualify(they would have to beat Germany) but hope the Irish open up a little more than most of Germany opponents been lately

got to say Germany might be Europe's last hope, as the Dutch got completely destroyed by the US at yesterday's friendly, Wasn't expecting that since the US had it;s longest layoff in it's history, yet still ran rings around the reigning Euro champs. Woso can't be in that bad shape in Europe?(or can it?)

Women's football in the Netherlands is not on the level of Germany and France yet, they certainly shouldn't be used as the yardstick for European football.
Didn't come as a surprise to me at all the way the game unfolded, I would have said 4-1 to the US if asked beforehand. Can't play a posession game with players like Spitse, can't play on the break without speed up front either. Really too bad Miedema was not available and Roord filling in...
Coach Wieman missing as well due to family circumstances only hours before the game.
Just got my Oberdorf jersey to stay relevant to this section [emoji16]

MVT got her pro’s & cons; more than any other NT coach, she’s brought up a lot of new, youthful players and gave them important playing time like the 3 teens she started in that win last year over England at Wembley. And then this year with newbies like Lohmann, Freigang, Wassmuth& Krumbiegel(so hence, add last year’s Oberdorf, Buhl & Kleneheme and you got the beginning of a beautiful relationship)
    But the tactics she employs
for me MVT is sort of an Dr Jackel & Mr Hyde; she certainly brought a lot of new fresh meat into the squad & realizes that you need faster, more athletic players with the recent pickups like Freigang, Krumbiegel & Wassmuth and giving them meaningful minutes. Add newbies from last year....Oberdorf, Buhl, Lohmann, Kleneheme and the future looks bright.
But then she still wants to play the outdated total football concept where defenders turn into attackers, plus she’s also one of possession minded freaks with the slow moving offense based playing-from-the-back/short give n go passes/over lapping FB’s/attacking CB’s. Unfortunately all of this leads to the attacking defenders being out of position & vulnerable to swift counters. The Dutch tried to do that & got destroyed instead by the US high press. Most likely MVT’s system would suffer a similar fate.

watching Krumbiegel, she’s got an very fast stride, but when dribbling she does have an habit of kicking the ball a little too far up. So the Greeks were able to tackle it away from her a few times. But Krumbiegel didn’t have all that much space to work with as the Greeks crowded their defense most of the time.

Lohmann; that’s why I wanted to know if Ireland still got a chance to make it into the Euros if they beat Germany? Cuz then maybe finally we’ll see an opponent come out of shell and start attacking a bit more & be nice to see Krumbiegel(if she plays) counter with so much more space available to work with

And how did Freigang do as Popp’s replacement? Personally I thought good; she’s a lot faster than Popp & she puts a lot if pressure on opposing defenders when they got the ball.
On the other hand Popp got a better header game & knows how to play act fake injury(that still somehow seems to work on sympathetic refs)
