Yes, but a player with his experience should know better, instead he often loses it. Also out of the field. A few years ago, when he was a Napoli player, some fans recognized him on the street, and asked him to take a selfie with them; he said no, like a real jerk, so these kids (probably some 16-17 years old or so) started making fun of him bcs a couple of days earlier he had missed a penalty, well he almost got into a fight with one of these kids, they had to divide them apart. Also a risk, because in a city like Naples, you can easily get in the wrong 16-17 years old kid, if you see what I mean.
I saw the highlights of LAFC-SJ, on the 1-2 winning goal all SJ players on the field and those ones on the bench and Almeyda jumped and cheered like they had just won the World Cup. I have been asking myself if we would see the same scene between players and coach these days, I really can't imagine that.

I'm very familiar with the stereotypical Philadelphia sports fan because my ex-wife grew up in the Philly suburbs. These are the fans who, after all, booed Santa Claus.
Today I watched AC Milan playing the E.L. last preliminary in Portugal against Rio Ave, it was a very difficult game also bcs of the strong wind and rain, Milan tied 2-2 at the 121' minute (10 seconds before the end of injury time of the second extra time), then went on to win the penalty shootout after a series of 12 penalties per each team, and after Rio Ave had 3 times the possibility to close the series. I was about to have a heart attack.
And the hits just keep on a coming https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...fter-one-new-covid-19-case-among-rapids-staff
After 40 consecutive defeats (last undefeated match in 2014), San Marino NT ties 0-0 in Liechtenstein and conquers its first external point since April 2001 (1-1 in Latvia). Liechtenstein is also the only team that San Marino ever beat (1-0 in 2004) in 34 years of existence. And then we complain about DC United.
Are any of the San Marino players on professional squads? I think the population of the country is about 40K.
I think one or two of them play in Serie C (3rd division for who does not know Italian football), and maybe another couple in Serie D, the rest are all amateurs. San Marino counts some 34K inhabitants.
A brace from Ibra gave Milan its first win in the Milan derby since January 2016; since when he joined Milan back he has flipped the team (not only him of course, the coach - Pioli - is also doing really well), he's the total team leader, all the other players listen to him religiously, and the coach too realizes how important he is to the team. And he had just recovered from covid. At 39 years old, I really don't know what else you could ask him. His mix match experience at Galaxy must have been also for the lower quality of the other teammates, and maybe also bcs Ibra expects a lot from everybody, in primis from himself. And that was probably not understood. But he was obviousy far from over.
Zlatan is a classic arrogant striker. Back in my day, you had a guy like that on your team, you took what he dished out because he won games for you, repeatedly. The Galaxy cried to the press about what an ass he is, instead of worrying about winning games.
It is a different mentality of MLS compared to Italy. The stakes are higher. The level of play is higher. MLS you can make the playoffs pretty easily. You don't have the grind that is Europe. There is a comfort level in MLS (if you are starter) you don't have in Europe.
I would add that most Galaxy players who criticized him did so cowardly, telling the press only after he was gone, rather than telling him on his face when he was with them.
I would add that - especially in Italy - presidents of clubs will let the coach go in a nanosecond if the team does not perform. Only very few clubs will decide to keep the coach all the way thru' the end of the season if results don't come (I think Juve fired a coach once or twice only during their seasons throughout their whole history). In Italy we say "this coach will not eat Panettone", meaning he won't last till the Christmas break.
So why was he so mediocre here? Why was he completely outclassed by Brilliant? How many championships did the Gals win with him? Yeah, MAYBE he needed a better supporting cast to really shine. BUT he never consistently stood out. He would have 2-3 monster games, and be a bust for 3 or 4.
Are you talking about Ibra? He had 52 goals in 54 games. I remember he had a slumpy month once or twice, but other than that he poured in goals.
He scored THIRTY goals for LA last year. THIRTY. It's not his fault the Galaxy were a defensive dumpster fire.
Given the problems with Covid infections, Colorado has played only 13 games compared to 19 for most others. There is talk of MLS using a PPG way to determine standing order because of these cancelled games. If the season ended today, Colorado would jump from 11th in the West to 4th based on PPG. That's nuts.
Isn't the standard way, cancellation due to one team = forfeit for that one team, 3 points for the other team; cancellation do to both teams, 0 points for each? Knowing they are even mildly considering doing that for Colorado, I would have recommended DCU pretend to have covid when we returned from that disney tournament I don't think they should make any adjustments at all - other than possibly having teams who were cancelled ON play against each other instead..... if for some reason just giving them the 3-0 win is unacceptable.
