From earlier this year, a couple of Texas HS players are weighing pro options: Following path of Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach is no longer the only option for soccer prodigies, as Dallas-area stars Alexis “Lexi” Missimo and Trinity Byars could go pro straight out of high school.Or they could chase national titles at Texas.https://t.co/S7SvEGe1ZS@dallasnews pic.twitter.com/GpT9EyX22b— Greg Riddle (@DMNGregRiddle) May 19, 2020 The linked article itself is behind a paywall. Trinity Byars & Lexi Missimo have both been with the US U17s. From the article: Missimo, an attacking midfielder who had 62 goals and 49 assists in 32 games in 2019, is a dual citizen of the U.S. and England and has been told by Manchester City and England's Arsenal WFC that they have pro opportunities waiting for her if she decides to go that route. Byars has Spanish citizenship, so both could easily find opportunities in Europe.

What is kind of interesting is how one of the parents said the money is in the endorsements, but with the new NIL legislation, they could potentially play in college AND get the endorsement money. And maybe it would be even more endorsement money than playing overseas because Texas has such a large fanbase (though I don't know how much it carries over to WoSo) and they could be part of the first national championship in their sport at the school.
I'd be surprised if most Texas alumni or general fans could name a single UT soccer player. There may be some national endorsement money available (but not like Olivia Moultrie), but it would probably be better in Europe.
