Now I can tell I was not happy with the win over Belgium, which was mainly due to pure luck. Southgate got what he deserved today, though I guess he will blame the referee, and put this coward line-up again next time. I did not even watch this because I simply do not care about his team.

Is it really appropriate to be ‘learning’ whilst managing England though ..

F**k this system and f**k Southgate if he keeps using it. Completely handicapping our team and talents. Three goals, three penalties and two red cards in four games says it all.

The red sent someone off at full-time as well.
    Reece James apparently

Well all managers should be constantly learning.

Something has happened to Southgate since lockdown though. I'm not sure why he's completely turned against his 4-3-3, why he's now gone back on his previously stated reservations about playing 3 at the back, and indeed why he thinks we look better playing like this.

While he is at his heart a fairly conservative manager its never been anything like this bad before. Seems a classic case of overthinking, but its beyond unclear to me why he suddenly started doubting his team in the first place. I've seen people saying its because the defence is in such bad form, but he changed to 3 at the back before the season started.

Make that three red cards in four games.

I watched the second half in the end.

It is absurdly hilarious that we can lose a man and our attacking threat is still eerily similar. Same isolated options up top, same players making the same runs offensively. Lack of numbers etc.

If that is the case then it highlights that the system doesn’t just need binning it needs burning

We’ve just turned the whole team into a monotonous bore. Any type of flair is considered a problem? Some players may as well not bother turning up to the next meet.

We lost a game we would probably have at least drawn tonight if that cart horse had not got sent off. As for Southgate he is who he is and that is an over cautious manager who when push comes to shove will always air on the side of safety when setting a team up. So nothing is going to change at the Euros or WC because a Leopard can't change it's spots and neither can Southgate.

For providing the ref with some 'feedback' I'd think :D

Don't blame him either... he was shocking.

Does home and away mean anything when there's no crowd? I can't help thinking if that ref had 90,000 Englishmen screaming their heads off at him for Denmarks repeated fouls on our guys the result might have been different... but he didn't.

At the very least he'd probably have been more forgiving about Maguire's blunders and maybe even the PK call.

The worst ref I've ever witnessed. We should have had a pen. Did he give it? No.

Only positives reece james was superb. Coady was good.

Negatives Southgate has to go. Hes taken a very talented group of players and turned them into a league 1 team. Maguire needs canning till he sorts himself out. Southgate's personal vendetta against grealish is baffling.

I just can't see anyway forward with Southgate anymore. He's lost the plot.

    Couple of things to remember

    1) The FA is skint. They aren't sacking Southgate
    2) the FA is skint. If he walks then it's gonna be Boothroyd....

Denmark has only lost one game in 4 years, which was against Belgium and is a level better than the best of the 4 teams you just mentioned there, I mean, Denmark had no problem beating Wales both home and away in their last 2018-19 UEFA Nations League group.

Rated 16th behind Switzerland who also have one player of note ... who can’t get close to starting for Liverpool..

If ur a Denmark fan ur team is shockingly bad. Ur only tactic was to play act and the absurd ref bought it every time.

My main annoyance, and I predicted it would happen, is his persistence of playing right footed players at left wing back. It’s truly infuriating, and it’s no surprise we had literally no attack down the left the entire first half.

Is this a predefined tactic? It certainly seems that way as he overloads every squad with right backs

    Oh come off it.

We played with 8 defenders in both bloody legs.

Wtf is our manager doing is more pertinent than whether Denmark are good or not.

No England team should ever setup with 3 defenders and nearly 3 CDMs. Disgusting formation.

What I can't understand is if we insist on going back to 3 at the back, why we don't just use the world cup system where at least we had two attacking midfielders. The logic seems to be that we need the holding midfielders because we're playing a front 3.......but playing a front 3 with Mason Mount there seems rather pointless when you could just play him in his preferred midfield position instead.
