Should have been 3. Defence don't know how to deal with a striker when there's 3 of them, defensive midfielders don't know how to deal with their space being occupied by wondering centre backs so aren't even covering it well.

 

Can’t blame him. Totally isolated he’s not a player who can express himself in such a negative system

Hopefully Southgate will take off Rice since he's on a yellow card. He just needlessly gave the ball away too.

I’d play Mount in midfield. Sancho right wing. Grealish for one CB.

 

Well that was dogshit. The centre backs don't trust the midfielders enough to pass to them, and on the odd occasion when they do, they get the ball back. Mount and DCL have barely touched the ball, whereas Rashford only has because he keeps having to drop back into his own half. None of them have looked confident. We had (I think) one left-footed player in the whole squad and he hasn't made the bench, so there's nothing we can do to address the constant checking back on that side. And lastly, it's yet another poor performance from Rice. Yes, he's 21, and I'm not suggesting that we give up on him for good, but what exactly has he done to be an automatic pick?

Not sure I'd be delighted if I was a Belgium fan either, but we should be losing, and I kind of wish we were. This is not the way forward.

 

Right let’s have a look at the available substitutes ... I’m guessing Southgate will pick the most unlikely ones ..

Also he’ll take off DCL an put on Ings

 

Changes I'd make Coady for Dier, Kane for Mount and Saka for Trent (swap with Trippier)
