The Euros will go ahead so long as UEFA can make money off it still if it’s behind closed doors. My guess is that it probably would. We’d lose that home advantage though which is massive in international tournaments.
Sorry but we won’t win jack .... if Southgate keeps to the tactics he seems to be set on playing. Also don’t agree about the Dutch they have bags of potential and all those teams will beat us unless Southgate opts for better tactics to suit our players.
That was a year ago. They have alot of weak areas. More so than us. A manager who isn't up to it. Also we beat ourselves by 2 stupid defensive mistakes
The Dutch are still a very strong side but now that Ajax team has been broken up I think they’ve lost something. Both De Jong and De Ligt had difficult seasons. VVD has lost some of his aura at the back end of last season and the beginning of this too.
Blimey look how Spain line up tonight !! Out of form keeper , Ramos , Busqs and an old right winger converted to RB Navas plus 7 youngsters !
https://www.skysports.com/football/...land-door-open-to-new-players-for-euros-squad Mentions dcl but no mention of grealish. I think players like lamptey awb maybe even brewster can still push his way in if he does the business for Sheffield United
If it was that serious, wouldn't he be going back to Spurs. I'd keep him as wrapped up as we can and get as many minutes into our other top class strikers. He's the best comfortably, but we have options now and DCL needs to be started in big games.
Speaking of which - MUST win today really. Wanna go top of the group and a good performance against a good team needed. Our most important game since 2018 to see where we are.
Can't see the expected line up churning out a good performance. Absolutely no idea what Southgate is thinking with it. His obsession with 3 at the back will be the death of him I suspect. Germany have a very similar issue with Low right now.
So it's probably this. I don't wanna say it but it is what it is. He doesn't think our CB and CM is good enough. He might be right. No matter what options we put out, he may think we don't have enough class and aren't technically good enough to dominate a midfield against a class outfit. It's entirely possible he's correct. So where are we strong, nice set of keepers, 1 in bad form, Good wing backs, good wingers/inside forwards, excellent strikers. Does 343 - 352 not sound exactly the formation to maximise that? I don't like it and hurts to say it but it may be a reality and he may be right.
When de bruyne came out and said England have the potential to win the world Cup i knew the usual trolls would be out in force (not talking about here). We do have the potential to win a major tournament. I would say its a bit early but once these kids come through we will be a serious force
In all the furore I can’t remember what Rashford did wrong ?? I thought it was Foden and Greenwood ..
I just wish we could have a proper interview from Southgate where he's challenged on the playing style, his system for getting out from the back and progressing the ball, and what he thinks is required of the players in order to do this. I just don't understand the method behind what he is trying to do. He seems to have an ideological commitment to possession football, but then relies on his old fashioned instincts when it comes to personnel.
4-3-3 was working well. All Southgate needed to do was tinker with the midfield personnel. Experiment with combinations of Rice/Phillips + Henderson/Winks + Foden/Grealish/Mount.
Pickford Walker Dier Maguire TAA Henderson Rice Trippier Mount DCL Rashford It's worse than we imagined.
