It seems that you are completely obsessed with Grealish. Given you claim to have watched every game he's ever played in midfield then you must be a Villa fan. It's understandable that you back your guy but it's a fact that he's only become a top player since he's been moved to the left wide forward position. Saying that I won't like this compilation is way off the mark. I'm a big fan of Grealish and hope that he can be an important player for England. I agree with some of your ideas - to a point. I think I'm being realistic about the player whilst I perceive that you are being obsessive and hyperbolic. Please don't feel that Jack Grealish playing well is offensive to me because the opposite is true. This does not support your argument though. It is common in the modern game for the 6 to be a DLP, it is the 8 & 10 position that has changed. The 8 has become more focused on hard running with high risk fast attacking play (see KDB) whilst the traditional 10 position has largely disappeared. the 6 is the big problem position that we have as we don't have the press resistant ball player like Thiago or De Jong but are you suggesting that we play Grealish as a 6?
Slightly pointless aside, but I'm not a fan of the new trend of defining positions by numbers. It's a bit too much like Rugby, where the number does define a large part of the players role.
I think it's more to do with a lack of respect for the lockdown. I bet most of the squad, and every other squad, has been acting in much the same way. Most countries don't have a media that would excitedly torpedo their own nation team though.
No I'm not suggesting Grealish as a 6, I'm suggesting that playing a versatile attacking midfielder in a different position than the position he currently plays at his club is not a big deal at all. I'm an Arsenal fan. I'm obsessed with good english players, as an England fan. We need press resistant players than can help the players who're not comfortable under pressure, like Henderson. Therefore having Grealish as a 10 /8 to drop deep and help the Rice / Henderson in the build up should be tried. The fact that playing with a 10 is not that common nowadays is definitely not a valid argument, especially if Southgate persists with both Rice and HEndo in midfield. Wasn't a problem for Southgate to play Foden in midfield even if he plays wide more often than not for City. ps : as for the vid and the suggestion that you were not going to like it, that's just banter guys, dont take it to heart
Amazed that people are against the idea that grealish could play behind kane sterling rashford. He has the intelligence vision footwork to feed through key passes. Hes predominantly a left sided player though Henderson Chilwell maguire gomez trent Rice Henderson Grealish Sterling kane rashford
Not sure if anyone here is saying that Grealish couldn't play as a 10, but Southgate has explicitly said that he could - he just doesn't want to change the system to accommodate a 10. Again, I think the disagreement is about whether Grealish can play as an 8, be it in a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3.
It's only shorthand. What does "holding midfielder" mean? Much the same as a "6" to me - just a broad description of a position. You're always going to have to clarify the nuances.
semantics IMO. Foden ahead of JWP and Rice played 10 or 8 for you ? Not sure Southgate even knows. Barkley with Dier and Winks against Spain 8 or 10 ? Grealish would have played the same position, it's his natural game anyway. (And Foden rarely plays there for City)
I actually had no idea what a 6 meant. 2 or 3 usually means a fullback, but what if a team plays 3 at the back?
By better domestic career I mean he'll win more stuff. Rooney was born a great footballer, Kane has made himself a great footballer. If Rooney had had Kanes professionalism he'd be up there with Messi and Ronaldo.
I kind of agree there - it's a blurry distinction - but presumably Southgate wants his 8s to do more of the less attacking/creative work than he thinks Grealish can or will do.
The gutter rags have 'journalists' that spend their time stalking social media accounts of famous people and their friends.
I find this ridiculous too, a number 6 to me is a left sided CB ie Baresi/Hansen. Considering squad numbers came in around 1993 I’d have thought this was a defunct idea by now. In the old days each manager had a different numbering system. A number six for Brian Clough was Roy Keane but he didn’t hold the midfield. Of course famously Liverpool had 7 & 9 as strikers too whereas Spurs had 8 & 10.
We’ve said this for years and used the same comparison although it’s harsh on Rooney saying he wasn’t professional - he’s been playing for 20 years professionally.
You're an Everton fan so you've been a lot closer to his story than me so I stand corrected. Is there any other centre forward you'd prefer at Everton than Harry Kane? I wouldn't swap him for any other international striker in the game.
Yes I agree but how much longer has lewondovski got at the highest level? I personally think kane is a better all round striker
I'm happy with DCL at the moment. But to answer your question no.Harry Kane at this moment in time is playing like a cross between Shearer and Sheringham, how long it lasts is another matter.Kanes only problems are he gets a baddish injury at least once a season and takes a few games to get going again.
