He’s going to be a starter in no time. Looks like he belongs and is a perfect fit for their style. This year is going to be fun.
The Avengers theme on Kazoos. It's both hilarious and horrifying. Take a bow Matthew and whomever recorded that and uploaded it to the internet.
Yep. Today was the day "Yanks Abroad" died. We had Yanks play for the biggest clubs in the world this weekend: Barca, Chelsea, Bayern, BVB and a game postponed with Juve. Now if you want to see Americans play abroad you just watch the biggest clubs in the world play. It's that simple.
I have a feeling that some floodgates have opened and that this is not some temporary high watermark in the long run. Pulisic showed that Americans can not only play, but feature for big clubs. I suspect that Reyna will be emblematic of a bunch of youngsters following behind. I don’t think it is just about having coach or player dads, though they both do. I suspect we are finally fully joining the world soccer wise. At least I hope so.
I remember the days when the only single soccer game was the WC finals game on TV was on CBS Wide World Sport, SIX months after it happened. I don't know how I survived but the wait was worth it. I hope I have enough life left to see us win one.
This makes Dest the 5th American to play in La Liga Keller (Rayo Vallercano)- 51 apps Altidore (Villarreal)- 9 apps, 1 goal Moore (Levante)- 6 apps Onyewu (Malaga)- 2 apps Dest (Barcelona)- 1 app
Sorry if it’s already been shared... I didn’t get to watch the game but having seen this i’m quite impressed. He’ll do just fine in La Liga
lol someone tried to tell me a while back dest cant play lb for usmnt how they play on the field (for USMNT) should settle it...not some resume competition
I stand corrected on the network. I think it was the 1970 WC. I don't believe I was driving yet. I remember Italy being involved. Back then it was shown in a compressed replay, the whole game in 30 minutes.
Not him but playing Dest at LB for the NT means taking Robinson off and putting someone else at RB (Cannon, Yedlin, ramdom MLS guy). Robinson and Dest > Dest and Cannon/Yedlin
That's a claim worth revisiting when we get closer to an actual national team game. I think it's questionable now, but if Cannon and Robinson both do well at their new clubs, it's an interesting debate to have.
Does anyone know how much or he is expected to get this year? It seems like Alba is still the main option at left back, but he is too old to log a lot of minutes, and the right back position seems pretty open. Is that right? Sorry if I missed this discussion earlier.
I agree. I’ve been impressed by Cannon with the national team. I don’t think Robinson is clearly better, at least not yet. It would be nice to have 3 good fullbacks, one of whom can play on both flanks.
You really think that's obscure? Maybe I'm in too deep, 'cause that seems to be a pretty well-known Barca reference to me...
One of these days, soon I think, we'll have to explain to people that they really used to make fun of Americans for not being good at soccer.
