Poor Lakers. How could their billionaire owners possibly cope... Confirmed that the Los Angeles Lakers were the only NBA team to ask for a Paycheck Protection Plan loan from the Small Business Administration. They received $4.6M and, as first reported by @kevinarnovitz, they have now returned it.— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) April 27, 2020 Such a trashy move.
Would be typical if the Knicks hire this raging alcoholic. I will always appreciate him for helping Dirk bring the chip to Dallas but as a coach and a human being he's unfortunately far away from being a role model. His stays in Brooklyn and Milwaukee speak for themselves. Zion looks really bad in the Orlando bubble. The NBA put so much effort into giving him and the Pelicans the easiest road into the 8th seed in the Western Conference and now they're practically eliminated after five games. Even worse, the Zion focused marketing strategy for the entire season was a failure because he basically never played..
Sign all the free agents you want... Clippers are still the Clippers. Pathetic display in the 2nd half. Absolutely delicious.
Fifty years without making a single Conference Final. Doc Rivers is now responsible for more than 20% of all 3-4 defeats after leading the series 3-1.
According to media reports it's the worst post-season drought without making the Conference Finals (or its equivalents) in all the major US sports. Doc Rivers now has three play-off defeats after leading the series 3-1.
Just crazy how things happen. We should have seen this coming with Kawhi Leonard taking shots at him at the end of the Nuggets series.
Ballmer was the one I thought is the x factor. He seems extremely committed to making the Clippers a success so if Doc was in danger I thought it was because of Microsoft Steve.
Kawhi Leonard is the shiny new toy. If Kawhi backs Doc's leadership, there is no way Ballmer (a newer owner) makes the move and pisses off his A-1 star. Not a chance. However, having Kawhi throw Doc under the bus is almost certainly the catalyst for Ballmer making the change. It would have been untenable under that situation (especially with Paul George and Doc already having some negative history to begin with). Nope, this was a Kawhi Leonard special here.
Oh I'm not disputing that's what happened considering the reports in the media. I just thought after their defeat to Denver for Doc to be fired it was because of Ballmer. I did not expect Kawhi to throw him under the bus like this. Totally unexpected.
I feel you man, but honestly, I am not surprised. He was very brusque with San Antonio, which is seen as a model organization. He dipped out on Toronto after a title winning season just a year after orchestrating his way off the Spurs. So to see him do this does not surprise me. Great player. But he has been a complete DIVA for 3 or 4 years now.
It was reported at the time that he took some thinly veiled shots at Rivers, subtly blaming him for the loss. I never saw a video of it or anything, just remember the generic top-line statements.
