Correct - not coming back from what I heard. JN has left the club, BC has left the club. KS is up in the air and the Crystal Lake location was terminated - some of those coaches along with Nino DaSilva (Batata's son)have gone to Inferno. Many other Sockers coaches are gone and many others are officially "part-time". Not sure if this a COVID "thing" - result of the ownership "stuff" - decline in #s or a bit of all three. They are not the only club however Paul Miceli and his Alliance program - along with the majority of Sockers CL merged into Inferno and now call The Mac their home. With a beautiful turf field and 4 new grass fields - they have one of the nicest facilities to train and it's also a good place for food!
AG went to Egypt to be with his ailing father. JN no clue. BC moves to Texas to be closer to wife’s family or she got a job there. New coaches Phil Knorr and Cesar Sanchez apparently come with very good reputations.
IWSL just updated the Fall seeds 2 days ago. Apparently this is a shot out to clubs for non-payment - despite Fall play being sidelined by JB. That said... Doesn't the league provide insurance for most clubs? Also what happens if JB desides to reverse course and open up play? My guess is that IWSL will figure something out since they went out of their way to make this point. Some of you may remember - way back in this thread, that IWSL was positing the names of clubs on their facebook account who had not paid up prior to the 2018 season... They do not mess around. Could this be a smart move for these clubs - in terms of saving $$$? Or could it backfire? I can't help be wonder about the insurance issue in all this. Would be horrible if some player got injured.
A lot of clubs (some big) are on that list for non-payment. Seems some clubs are adding in MRL team and not the lower ranked teams.Gamble? Perhaps. JB's decree on youth sports expires today. If he switches gears on youth soccer there will be a whole lot of parents asking why some clubs are playing league games and why they are not. I can see some directors churning up the bullshit on this... "Because of COVID worries we really feel this is the best way to protect our players". "We feel that inter-league play allows us to control the flow of the game which is what the kids at this age need in order to develop".
Didnt know it had an expiration...good to know. Thank god! Our club is letting h.s. boys who didnt oay for top talent play free right now. Bit sure how this would all play out right now if they put together games,friendliesvor league... These kids need game play!
Sockers is one of the clubs who have not paid - on the girls side that likely means any team that would normally play in the IWSL, would not be able to play if Illinois changes gears. Looking at the IWSL site, some teams that have not paid have signed up just their MRL teams - which reflect on the IWSL site even though they are not playing IWSL games. Chicago Inferno recently added theirs. I am guessing if these clubs are not paying dues for MRL teams in the Illinois - only First Divisions, that they will not be eligible to play either. FCU and Eclipse are in the same boat. Not sure if Sockers could put the girls in the NISL. Do they even own that league anymore? I seem to recall that they sold it...? In our area Strikers and Campton are all paid up and ready to play if JB opens up youth soccer. Hoping that is the case because at 2 friendlies this weekend I walked through the middle of 3 games - pull of Strikers parents. I even saw old mate of mine from high school days and chatted with her for a good 30 minutes. So at that point, why bother with interleague only. My thinks that the blanket order did not really look at what each sport was doing. I mean when Raptors, ELA, City, Evolution and plenty more teams are heading to Indiana every weekend - how is that safer then allowing us to play in State? Those teams are stopping for lunch, dinner - some are staying in hotels and they are mixed in with people from states with worse numbers then Illinois. That is what I am hoping they recognize - that in State may actually be safer then out of State soccer so long as the rules are followed by parents and players.
FWIW MLS Next Academy teams FCU, Fire, Sockers not playing yet either but seemingly every other MLS Next team outside IL just kicked off their seasons last weekend.
I believe FCU played the weekend of 9/12. I heard they met a team from Minny in the Wisconsin Dells for the games.
Wisconsin back on Illinois shit list - so you can say good bye to any soccer up there. Looks like JB is keeping youth sports under the rug so the gamble those clubs played by not paying may have paid off.
Ah... well then I stand corrected. I wonder even though however, will clubs steer clear? Additionally - I wonder how business is at Grand Park in Indiana? I would think they would be hiring at this point. Thats a nice facility - great food!
Teams for many sports were going to Wisconsin all summer both before and after they were on the list. Not many of the parents care about what the Governor says. Unless they are required to log all their movements and report them to their schools, they are going to continue to travel.
I don't doubt parents/players are more than happy to ignore the governor, but the issue is IL soccer, leagues, and clubs aren't likely to ignore the governor. I agree that WI is falling behind, and what should be done is let IL play in-state, as it can be done safely, economically, and provide children a positive experience in this year where their lives have been tossed upside down.
The quarantine list is only for Chicago (not the state) so unless a team is from Chicago, it shouldn't really matter.
I see a club released a statement saying they aren't traveling out of state to play any games. Many games on the MWC schedules not getting played. Two of the three MLS Next clubs haven't played yet. At the same time I see some traveling +2hrs out of state to play friendlies against clubs that are 15min away from home. Whats wild is I can't decide which one is worse. What a time lol.
So I was just told that they are going to start inter-league games... What have they been doing all this time? Are they refunding $$$? Reduced rate or is will $$$ just be applied as a credit if they sign up next year This youth soccer is such a racket
Sockers? Training 3x/week inter league game on Saturdays. MLS Next, ECNL, GA all playing games outside of Illinois. Not to mean clubs in those leagues playing outside of state. Meaning clubs in other states progressing with regularly scheduled programming. Though I do hear eclipse ecnl is playing games in IN.
