So I have an ardent Individual One supporter, one who posts every day pro-President stuff. Most is from FoxNews, but other occasional shit shows up. Today (last night?) she posts something about how there are 10mil TB cases every year and hundreds of thousands of death every year and why are we not focusing on that, but COVID-19 is such a huge focus. Previously, to see if she was movable in any way, I responded to one of her posts about the protests and rioting and such. She came back with some stupid shit about how Biden wanted the violence, etc. But, last night/today was a meme, not a FoxNews story, so I thought I might try and calmly correct her. It was interesting how I (along with somebody else she knows) pointed out that TB has been around for years and I pointed out that there are vaccines for TB and that we in the West have a very low incidence of TB. Her response was was asking if I though it not a serous issue. (In my head, I'm thinking, "you're drunk posting, right?") But I calmly corrected her, and pointed out that much is known about TB, but very little is known about COVID-19. She said the media was sensationalizing this pandemic. And I said, some are over the top, but it should be because it can be compared to the Spanish Flu which had 3 waves (or as many as 5 depending on the source) to at least 1920. And it was interesting that she did not respond negatively to me, even when I countered her belief of the media. Huh.
So in talking with my mom this week, she talked about how she is a poll worker for both the general election but also early voting. I brought up the mess of the Florida Latinos and how she needed to do anything she could to help get them to vote and vote Biden. She kept saying that as a poll worker and needed to be non-partisan. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I'm not exactly sure how the poster got into the group, but it was wild to see trolling there with either a fake or compromised account. I hate giving my neighbors credit, but I was impressed by how it was handled and nobody took the bait. I can only imagine how that would have gone over on pages that are more susceptible to that shit.
