    TOPPSERIEN 2020 – 10th Matchday

    Avaldsnes 4 – 0 Røa
    1-0 Rasheedat Ajibade 5
    2-0 Katrina Gorry 42
    3-0 Rasheedat Ajibade 45+1
    4-0 Anna Jøsendal 84

So many games have been close contests in Toppserien this season, but not this one, the only home win this weekend by the way. Three up at half-time, Avaldsnes coasted to three easy points and could rest key players at an early stage in the second half and give bench players some valuable game time. Røa’s full-backs had a torrid time as Avaldsnes wingers Rash Ajibade and Anna Jøsendal tormented them again and again. All four goals came after fine work down the wings. Unless Geir Nordby and Røa come up with something really special over the next few weeks, it now looks like twenty years in the top flight league is coming to an end. There is no end to the misery.

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 5 – Dahl 6, Decker 5 (Arnesen -), Polkinghorne 5, Utvik 5 (Løvås -) – Tennebø 5 (Dirdal -), Gorry 6 (Enlid -), Tvedten 6 (Norheim -) – Ajibade 7, Thorsnes 5, Jøsendal 7.

    RØA (4-2-3-1): Ervik 4 – Lyshoel 5, Suphellen 4 (Masdal 4), Aabel 4, Harviken 3 – Jørgensen 5, Birkeli 4 – Glorud 4 (Espås 4) (Fuglem -), Huseby 5, Terry 3 (Haugen -) – Fjelldal 4.

    Rosenborg 1 – 1 Arna Bjørnar
    1-0 Celine Nergård 75
    1-1 Meryll Abrahamsen 88 (pen)

Rosenborg had Kristine Nøstmo back in goal after injury, but missed the towering Emilie Bragstad in central defence who served suspension for red card in the midweek. Rosenborg will be kicking themselves for not killing this game off before Arna Bjørnar’s late equalizer on a penalty. There were plenty of wasted chances and disallowed goals. Substitute Celine Nergård scored her first goal this season fifteen minutes from the end, heading home a cross from the right, and also had an effort against the post later. Meryll Abrahamsen converted A-B’s penalty after Pia Rijsdijk was upended in the box. Rosenborg are still unbeaten, but have only one home win this season. They play way better on away grounds.

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Nøstmo 5 – Næss 5, Hofset 5, Vårhus 5, Minde 5 – Sørum 6, Joramo 6 – Utland 4 (Nergård -) (Lein -), Andreassen 6 (Døvle -), Blakstad 5 – Clausen 4 (Fornes 5).

    A-B (4-4-1-1): Micah 7 – Brummel 4, Gloppen 4, Lövgren 4, Erman 3 – Laupstad 4 (Takle Eide -), Nygard 5, Bjelde 5, Aleksic 6 (Jåstad -) – Abrahamsen 6 – Sunde 5 (Rijsdijk 6).

    Kolbotn 0 – 0 Vålerenga

Vålerenga had three key players out due to suspension and injuries (Sigurðardóttir, Waldus and Stefanovic), but still delivered a disappointing game, and have now thrown away four points in two games in the title race against struggling Kolbotn. Although still league leaders, coach Jack Majgaard Jensen can’t be satisfied with only 19 goals scored in 11 games. His Vålerenga project is still in its first season, but more should be expected from the front players. The home team created some big scoring chances on counter-attacks, but Vålerenga had the best opportunity in injury-time when Sherida Spitse’s free-kick was excellently saved by Siri Ervik. Also Vålerenga goalkeeper Jalen Tompkins deserves praise after keeping her third clean sheet in four matches.

    KOL (4-3-3): Ervik 6 – Orgill 5 (S.Haugland -), Hørte 5, Nordahl 6, B.Lund 4 – Pedersen 5, Holmen 5 (Jørgensen -), Pirisi 6 – Fridlund 4 (Christiansen -), Klæboe 5, Hegg 5.

    VIF (4-2-3-1): Tompkins 6 – Huse 5, B.Pedersen 5, Thomsen 5, Tomter 6 – Spitse 5, Karstensen 5 (Fløtre -) – Madsen 5, Jensen 4, Ildhusøy 5 – Njoya 4.

    Lyn 1 – 3 Klepp
    0-1 Elisabeth Terland 15
    1-1 Camilla Linberg 37
    1-2 Matilde Rogde 65
    1-3 Elisabeth Terland 67

Klepp finally won again after three straight defeats. Elisabeth Terland scored a beauty last Wednesday, and scored two more goals today, and is finally showing why people speak so highly about her in Norway. Today she had to share the glory with winger Matilde Rogde though, whose terrifying speed tore Lyn into pieces. The only moment the home fans could enjoy was when Camilla Linberg (who else?) scored a goal from long range over a misplaced goalkeeper Gay. Lyn’s poor points haul keeps Røa’s slim survival hopes alive.

    LYN (4-5-1): Odden 3 – Bølviken 4, Olsen 4, Bækkelund 4, Closs 4 (S.Jensen -) – Palm 4 (Foslie 4), Hernes 4 (Haugstad -), Tunes 5, Tandberg 5 (Aahjem -), Godø 4 (Bakke -) – Linberg 6.

    KLE (4-3-3): Gay 5 – Sikora 5 (Aune 5), Østenstad 4, T.Hansen 5, Jensen 6 – Stanton 5 (Skretting -), Bjørnsen 5 (Austdal -), Andresen 4 – Terland 7, H.Hansen 4 (Hayes 6), Rogde 7.

    Sandviken 0 – 1 LSK Kvinner
    0-1 Sophie Haug 30

A very flattering scoreline for LSK who got far more than they deserved in this match, and scored on pretty much their only chance in this televised game on NRK. Emilie Haavi set up Sophie Haug on the far post for the winning goal after half an hour. Sandviken had most of the possession, but failed to deliver the key pass to their front players. Too much sideways football and not enough bite when it mattered in the box. Lisa Naalsund missed a penalty for Sandviken after 55 minutes. She even failed to hit the target, which was quite symptomatic for Sandviken’s afternoon. For LSK to be dominated quite like this by a team currently in fifth place in Toppserien, is alarming for their European ambitions this season. They have a lot of work ahead of them (and probably new signings..) to be competitive in the Champions League.

    SAN (4-4-2): Bogstad 5 – Ryland 4, Stenevik 5, Bergsvand 5, Hjelmhaug 5 – Veivåg 4 (H.Jensen -), Spord 5, Naalsund 5, Hasund 6 (Veglo -) – Cordner 4, Brochmann 4.

    LSK (4-4-2): Norstrøm 7 – Dahlström 6, Røstbakken 6, Gausdal 6, Woldvik 5 – Vanhaevermaet 5 (Ellingsen -), Eide Lie 5 (Wilmann -), Bachor 5, Haavi 7 – Löfwenius 5, Haug 6.

Goal of the Week: This week I think the assists were better than the goals for a change.

1 - Elisabeth Terland, Klepp (away at Lyn)
2 - Camilla Linberg, Lyn (home vs Klepp)
3 - Rasheedat Ajibade, Avaldsnes (home vs Røa)

Sandviken - LSK full game on NRK from yesterday for those who are interested.

    Team of the Week:

Finally, a few words on Ingrid Engen, who played in her first major international final yesterday and was the youngest player starting the final. I thought she conducted herself well, although she didn't get to see as much of the ball as she normally does. I wanted her to be a bit more brave when she did get the ball, but it's easier to be an expert watching on TV than when you play against a team like Lyon. She covered a lot of ground, the silent work in midfield that generally goes unnoticed.

She's had a remarkable career so far. This was her first season in Wolfsburg, and to establish herself in the engine room of midfield in that team so early with experienced internationals is very impressive. Can't wait to see what the next season has in store for her. I would say Norway have a true midfield general in the making.

I feel like answering that, because maybe my brief words about Engen's match in the Champions' League thread sounded too much dismissive.

It's a fact though, in my opinion, that, as much as Wolfsburg's team's one as a whole, her performance yesterday was a step back to the excellent things she had showed so far along the (shortened) season. And anyway it's true that it's difficult to shine when team-mates around you don't help you to shine. You said that you would have wanted her to be a bit more brave, and I guess that's indeed the key-word: she was too much shy for a UEFA Champions' League final, that's the moment when you have to step up and to showcase your absolute best.

Anyway, I agree that she's still young and very promising: as you point out, it was her first major international final and I am quite sure it wasn't her last.

Biggest question of the 2020 Toppserien season so far: when is Camilla Lindberg's contract up?

She has scored some of the most audacious goals of all varieties. There are lots of teams who could use her production, domestic and abroad.

Avaldsnes had struggled to play to their promise but turned the corner against Røa. They actually played like a team and not a collection of parts and pieces. That's trouble for the frontrunners.

Rosenberg and Sandviken both looked rather flat and uninspired while LSK again takes points from a key game. If you want to usurp Lillestrøm you need to take those flat performances and back alley scrap points from them.

I doubt her contract runs longer than out this season. If Lyn go down Linberg certainly won't go down with them. She has to be picked up by some of the better clubs after what she has delivered. She has now added end product to her showpiece skills. Imagine if Lyn had Runa Lillegård injury free this season, they might actually have been out of the relegation swamp by now. I still don't know why Mariana Larroquette hasn't been given more game time for Lyn up front. May be she needs to work more on her fitness level after the full lockdown in Argentina. I noticed she has something like 50K followers on Instagram, so she is quite a big name at home.

New national team outfits launched from Nike today. The theme is "fire and ice". While the home kit is back to basics compared to the experimental World Cup design, the away kit is quite unique this time:

Norway and Belarus are now working on having the Euro qualifying match currently scheduled for September 18 in Sandefjord, postponed to October. Belarus is not in Schengen so the travel restrictions with quarantine rules are problematic at the moment. Norway's other qualifier in this upcoming international break against Wales in Oslo four days later, is still on schedule.

It shouldn't take too long now before Martin Sjögren picks his first Norway squad since March. What can we expect? Any new players? Norway are having a minor crisis regarding strikers nowadays, don't we?

Ada Hegerberg - In rehab, but still turns down the NT.
Isabell Herlovsen - Is on sick leave for mental problems. She has no motivation and hasn't been part of the Vålerenga team so far this season, but hasn't officially retired yet.
Lisa-Marie Utland - Can't win the striker's spot at Rosenborg. Pushed out to the wing where she doesn't perform well.
Synne Jensen - One goal so far this season at Vålerenga.

The goalkeeper Benedicte Håland has signed for Bristol City. Apparently she must have done pretty well in her Swiss stint in Lugano. She was never more than a back-up goalkeeper in Toppserien. With Fiskerstrand and Mikalsen already in the English top flight struggling for game time, we could get a hat-trick of Norwegian goalkeeping bench warmers this season. :coffee:

We were spoiled for so long with Ingrid Hjelmseth. Curious who can raise their game and push Fiskerstrand.

    Tomorrow has a couple epics:

    LSK / Rosenborg
    Vålerenga / Sandviken

We've completed over half the season and all the medals are still very much anyone's in the top half of the table. Everyone has a handful of tough matches and any of them can go on a roll.

LSK has been quietly getting the job with back-to-back wins after back-to-back losses.

Avaldsnes is fully on a roll with four wins, a tie and no losses in August.

Rosenborg is still undefeated but half their games are ties, including four of their last six.

Vålerenga has not lost in two months (7 wins, 3 ties) so their number of wins puts them past Rosenborg.

Sandviken's three game win streak was stopped by LSK last weekend. But if they can find a way to get a result from Vålerenga this weekend, their next matches are soft (Lyn, Arna-Bjørnar, Klepp, Røa) and they can climb high into October.

    TOPPSERIEN 2020 – 11th Matchday

    Arna Bjørnar 0 – 2 Avaldsnes
    0-1 Robyn Decker 54
    0-2 Elise Thorsnes 58

Avaldsnes have been a revelation in Toppserien this year. I certainly didn’t expect them to be second on the table at this stage of the season. Captain Robyn Decker scored the first on a header from a corner by Hanna Dahl. With five assists this season, Dahl must be the most underrated full-back in Norway. The 25 year-old has done well for quite some time, but is still uncapped. Elise Thorsnes added the second goal, popping up on the far post after some excellent work by Rash Ajibade. Arna Bjørnar’s awful home record continues, now five defeats in six games. One footnote regarding player ratings today. Linnea Laupstad, only rated 3 by NTB, was named A-B’s player of the match by a local jury on the stadium. Opinions vary, it seems.

    A-B (4-4-1-1): Micah 5 – Brummel 5, Gloppen 5, Lövgren 4, Erman 3 (Ose -) – Laupstad 3 (Sunde -), Nygard 6 (Jåstad -), Bjelde 4, Aleksic 6 – Abrahamsen 4 – Rijsdijk 3 (Altermark -).

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 5 – Dahl 6, Decker 7, Polkinghorne 6, Utvik 4 – Tennebø 6 (Arnesen -), Gorry 5 (Dirdal -), Tvedten 5 – Ajibade 7, Thorsnes 6, Norheim 4 (Enlid -).

    LSK Kvinner 0 – 1 Rosenborg
    0-1 Elin Sørum 53

What a sweet victory for Rosenborg! Midfielder Elin Sørum stole the ball from Nora Eide Lie just outside the box and buried it past the goalkeeper for the winning goal. LSK barely produced anything. Emilie Haavi, voted Toppserien’s player of the month for August, had a quiet afternoon. LSK hit the post after a corner in injury-time, but failed to score. Hege Riise desperately tries a new formation every week now to fit her player material. This time a 4-3-3, but to no avail. LSK extended contracts to 2022 this week for three of their best sales prospects (Emilie Woldvik, Sophie Haug and Malin Brenn). LSK are currently fourth on the table now. Rosenborg still unbeaten and only third. The four key players out with injury and pregnancy have been a blessing in disguise for them. Their replacements stepping up this season have simply been better.

    LSK (4-3-3): Norstrøm 4 – Dahlström 4, Røstbakken 5, Gausdal 5, Woldvik 4 – Ellingsen 5, Eide Lie 4, Bachor 5 (Kyvåg -) – Haavi 4, Haug 4, Löfwenius 3 (Vanhaevermaet -).

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Nøstmo 5 – Næss 5, Bragstad 6, Vårhus 5, Minde 6 (Hofset 5) – Sørum 7, Joramo 5 – Utland 4, Andreassen 5 (Fornes -), Blakstad 6 – Clausen 4 (Nergård -).

    Røa 1 – 0 Klepp
    1-0 Oline Fuglem 3

What a disaster for Klepp who have now managed to lose twice to Røa without scoring this season. Røa had their best player Vilde Birkeli out injured as well. Klepp missed Ola Sikora and put midfielder Mille Aune in her place. The early goal by Oline Fuglem, a shot into the bottom corner, decided the match. There were some great pictures produced of the Røa bench when the final whistle went with injured players jumping around on one leg celebrating as if they had won the league. At least they have moved away from the bottom spot – for a short while. A great title race is exciting, but there is nothing like a nervous relegation battle. So much is at stake.

    RØA (4-2-3-1): Ervik 5 – Lyshoel 6, Suphellen 5, Aabel 7, Masdal 4 – Jørgensen 5, Harviken 5 – Glorud 6 (Terry -), Huseby 5, Fuglem 7 – Fjelldal 5.

    KLE (4-2-3-1): Gay 4 – Aune 5, Østenstad 4, T.Hansen 6, Jensen 5 – Stanton 5 (Skretting -), Andresen 5 (Austdal -) – Hayes 6 (Karlsen -), Terland 6, Rogde 6 – H.Hansen 5.

    Vålerenga 2 – 0 Sandviken
    1-0 Dejana Stefanovic 35
    2-0 Synne Jensen 61

Vålerenga were back to full strength again after trying out some new faces in the midweek due to suspensions. Today they won comfortably against a disappointing Sandviken team unable to trouble them. Four clean sheets in the last five games now for Jalen Tompkins, originally throught of as a back-up goalie for Vålerenga. Stefanovic opened the score when she headed home a corner from Andrine Tomter ten minutes before the interval. Synne Jensen scored the other from an acute angle after being set up nicely by Rikke Madsen. Sandviken then had a great opportunity to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty, but Lisa Naalsund missed again just like she did last week against LSK. This time she hit the crossbar. Vålerenga increased their lead on the table to four points.

    VIF (4-2-3-1): Tompkins 5 – Thomsen 5, B.Pedersen 7, Sigurðardóttir 5, Tomter 6 – Spitse 6, Stefanovic 6 – Madsen 6 (Huse -), Jensen 6, Ildhusøy 6 – Njoya 4 (Waldus -).

    SAN (4-4-2): Bogstad 5 – Ryland 6, Stenevik 5, Bergsvand 4, Hjelmhaug 4 – Veivåg 3 (H.Jensen -), Spord 5, Naalsund 5, Hasund 5 – Cordner 4 (Lekven -), Brochmann 4.

    Kolbotn 1 – 0 Lyn
    1-0 Julie Hoff Klæboe 86

The televised match on NRK this week was a bottom of the table clash at Sofiemyr. The first half was really drab. Lyn experimented with a new back three formation, but failed to put pressure on the hosts. Kolbotn looked a bit stronger throughout the game, but failed to convert opportunities into goals until four minutes from the end. Julie Hoff Klæboe, who wasted some chances earlier, rose high and headed home a cross from the right by Johanne Fridlund. Lyn now fall down to the relegation spot, but with a game in hand vis-à-vis Røa.

    KOL (4-3-3): Ervik 5 – Orgill 4 (S.Haugland -), Hørte 7, Nordahl 5, B.Lund 6 – Eckhoff 4, Pedersen 5, Holmen 4 (Jørgensen -) – Fridlund 7 (Elvebakken -), Klæboe 5, Hegg 4.

    LYN (3-4-3): Odden 6 – S.Jensen 6, Bækkelund 5, Olsen 5 – Closs 4, Hernes 5 (Foslie -), Tandberg 4 (Palm -), Bølviken 4 (Gashi -) – Linberg 4, Godø 4, Tunes 6 (Bakke -).

A ground-breaking decision from NFF today. The NM Cup will be held for women this year, but not for men! The men's cup competition has been held every year since 1902 (except war years). There aren't enough empty dates left on the calender this year to stage the men's competition, but the women have fewer clubs involved, so there will be room for a domestic cup competition with teams from the top two divisions.

The women's cup final will be played at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo and not indoor on Telenor Arena which has been the venue in recent years. Dates and draw to be announced later.

Ullevaal is such a better venue for a final than Telenor. And if you're in town for the game you can stay at the stadium hotel, can't beat it for convenience and the breakfast buffet is to die for. Simple commute too on the T-bane. Thrilling they went for a women's Cup this year!

Good to see Emilie Bragstad get the invite, she could be the future after Mjelde and Thorisdottir age out. And if she can fast-track it gives those two other deployment options on the field. Haven't seen much of Julie Blakstad but Celin Bizet Ildhusøy is another for the future if her game can keep climbing, don't think she can add much yet against Tier 1 international competition.

For goal of the week, Kobotn's Julie Hoff Klæboe had a grade A chance on a header shortly before her goal, but blew it wide. I remember thinking if she gets that chance again she won't miss next time.

LSK has now lost THREE OF THEIR LAST FIVE. Such a surreal statement. But they can lick their chops and climb the table with Klepp, Røa and Arna-Bjørnar up next. Then Avaldsnes again and Vålerenga to decide their final placement with a home game to Lyn to cap the season.

Vålerenga put the hurt into Sandviken and gave them a real wake-up call and it will be interesting to see how the Westerners respond. They have four soft games (Lyn, Arna-Bjørnar, Klepp, Røa) and then close out the year with Rosenborg and Avaldsnes. If they can run the weaker teams they might be in a position to try and overtake the pack at the wire with results in the last two.

As for Vålerenga, come and catch us! The Avaldsnes game tomorrow will be legend, then they go Klepp, Rosenborg and LSK before a soft ending with Lyn and Arna-Bjørnar. Three of their next four games are against #2, #3 and #4 and they are the only ones who can truly say their fate is in their hands.

Remove the game Røa's Josefine Ervik got injured early (and had to leave) and she now has two clean sheets in three starts. Not bad for a team with two wins in 11. They have a nightmare run of Rosenborg, LSK and Sandviken on deck to try and steal absolutely precious points and then will catch their breath and look for salvation with Lyn, Arna Bjørnar and Kolbotn to close out the year. As you said, relegation scraps are as or more exciting than titles.

    TOPPSERIEN 2020 – 12th Matchday

    Arna Bjørnar 2 – 1 Kolbotn
    1-0 Kristina Erman 1
    2-0 Linnéa Laupstad 18
    2-1 Johanne Fridlund 77

Finally a convincing performance by Arna Bjørnar after a bunch of defeats on home soil. Especially the first half was impressive. Kristina Erman scored the fastest goal in Toppserien this season, within a minute, aided a great deal by poor goalkeeping from Siri Ervik who misjudged the flight of the ball. 17 year-old Laupstad added a second shortly after, her first ever Toppserien goal. Caroline Graham Hansen trained with Kolbotn this week to keep her legs ready for the Wales match. Kolbotn’s winger Johanne Fridlund is not bad herself, and reduced the lead with a fine shot which Caro also would have been proud of. Kolbotn’s two new Americans, Meg Brandt and Satara Murray, were finally eligible to play, but both were placed on the bench and only Murray came on as a sub.

    A-B (4-4-2): Micah 5 – Takle Eide 4, Gloppen 6, Lövgren 5, Erman 7 – Brummel 6, Nygard 6, Bjelde 5, Laupstad 5 (Jåstad -) – Aleksic 7, Abrahamsen 6 (Rijsdijk -).

    Avaldsnes 0 – 0 Vålerenga

The top of the table clash ended in a goalless stalemate. Hardly surprising. Vålerenga had most of the big chances and Ajara Njoya came closest when she missed the target one on one with the goalkeeper midway through the second half. Avaldsnes had Andrea Norheim out with the flu, which gave new signing Julia Molin from Sassuolo a chance in the starting line-up. Vålerenga are building their success from behind this season. Only one goal conceded in the last six games (they've played all title challengers in that run). A strong back four shielded further by Spitse and Stefanovic. Avaldsnes did not have the tools to unlock them. There is more to wish from the front players at Vålerenga, but things can suddenly turn for the better also for them.

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 6 – Dahl 5, Decker 5, Polkinghorne 7, Utvik 4 – Tennebø 5, Gorry 6 (Dirdal -), Tvedten 6 – Ajibade 5, Thorsnes 5, Molin 3 (Enlid).

    VIF (4-2-3-1): Tompkins 5 – Thomsen 5, B.Pedersen 6, Sigurðardóttir 5, Tomter 6 – Spitse 6, Stefanovic 5 (Waldus -) – Madsen 5, Jensen 5 (H.Hansen -), Ildhusøy 6 (Bott -) – Njoya 5.

    Rosenborg 2 – 0 Røa
    1-0 Marit Clausen 16
    2-0 Cesilie Andreassen 66

The unbeaten Rosenborg bandwagon is rolling on, although they only won their second home game this season, they usually draw at home. Due to lack of available forwards, Røa experimented with the towering centre-back Kamilla Aabel up front in this game, but to little effect. Top scorer Marit Clausen scored her eighth goal this season, set up nicely with a chested assist from Lisa-Marie Utland, one of few positive plays by the misplaced NT forward this season. Cesilie Andreassen sealed the three points with a well-placed low shot in the second half. Newly Norway selected Emilie Bragstad went off at half time. I have no clue if that’s an injury or not. Let’s hope it isn’t.

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Nøstmo 6 – Næss 5, Bragstad 4 (Hofset 5), Vårhus 5, Minde 6 – Sørum 6 (Døvle -), Joramo 7 – Utland 7 (Lein -), Andreassen 7 (Fornes -), Blakstad 7 – Clausen 7 (Nergård -).

    RØA (4-5-1): Ervik 4 – Lyshoel 5 (Svastuen -), Suphellen 4, Aabel, Masdal 4 – Glorud 3 (Espås 5), Birkeli 4, Jørgensen 5, Harviken 5, Huseby 5, Fuglem 5 (Haugen -) – Aabel 3.

    Lyn 2 – 0 Sandviken
    1-0 Camilla Linberg 30
    2-0 Camilla Linberg 90+1

Camilla Linberg had a quiet afternoon in the televised game last week, but today she was back on fire again scoring both goals in a very important win against fading Sandviken. Many felt she was overlooked by NT coach Sjögren for the Wales match. Now Linberg sits on top of the scoring charts while playing for a bottom club. Nora Gjøen replaced injured Oda Bogstad in goal and had a nightmare match at Kringsjå, and was pretty much responsible for both goals. Sandviken dreamt about winning the league, but have now lost three in a row without scoring. Things have gone bad after the sacking of Patrick Hansson, but last week Sandviken signed former coach Alexander Straus for a second spell, but he won’t start until January 2021. Lyn leapfrog Røa on the table and add more drama to the relegation battle.

    LYN (4-5-1): Odden 6 – Bølviken 5, S.Jensen 7, Olsen 6, Closs 5 – Tunes 5 (Bakke -), Tandberg 6 (Palm -), Gashi 6 (Bækkelund -), Hernes 5, Godø 5 – Linberg 8.

    SAN (4-3-3): Gjøen 2 – Ryland 4, Stenevik 5, Bergsvand 4, Hjelmhaug 3 (Raa -) – Hasund 5, Spord 4, Naalsund 4 – Cordner 5, Brochmann 5, Veglo 4 (Veivåg -).

    Klepp 2 – 3 LSK Kvinner
    0-1 Andrea Wilmann 6
    1-1 Elisabeth Terland 34
    1-2 Emilie Haavi 49
    2-2 Nikki Stanton 52 (pen)
    2-3 Nora Eide Lie 69

In terms of entertainment, NRK probably chose the right match to cover this weekend. It was a rather closely fought battle, but with LSK looking a bit sharper. The defending champions lead three times, and Klepp could only equalize twice. It was very windy at times and the ball wouldn’t stop rolling which made even basic passes challenging. This hasn’t been the best week for goalkeepers, and Adelaide Gay gifted Nora Eide Lie the winning goal with her bad cleareance from the box. Klepp now have five losses in the last six games, and are also slowly dragged down in the relegation mud. No teams on the lower half of the table are safe. Some additional drama for next season: Øvrevoll Hosle scored in the 80th minute to close the score to 2-1 behind Medkila.

The win for Medkila gives both teams second place in the First Division with an identical record of 10 matches played, seven wins and three losses, 21 goals for and 10 against.

Big win for Medkila. A promotion for Øvrevoll Hosle will not be good for Toppserien. They are just another minor Oslo club without growth potential playing on astroturf without fascilities, tradition or fanbase. I want a better geographical representation in the league. Right now we have three Oslo clubs on the three bottom positions in Toppserien and two Oslo clubs at the top in the second league. Stabæk going up is good, but I would also like to see Medkila make it this time, although I have doubts they can beat Røa, Lyn or Kolbotn in the promotion play-offs.

Full game: Klepp - LSK from Saturday

Martin Sjögren has called up Ida Norstrøm of LSK as goalkeeper in the Norway squad. Aurora Mikalsen is injured, she was not in the Spurs squad this weekend.

    Goal of the Week:

1 - Camilla Linberg, Lyn (home vs Sandviken [2nd goal])
2 - Marit Clausen, Rosenborg (home vs Røa)
3 - Johanne Fridlund, Kolbotn (away at Arna-Bjørnar)

Yeah really hope Emilie Bragstad wasn't injured.

    26 Sep: Kolbotn – Rosenborg
26 Sep: LSK Kvinner – Røa
    27 Sep: Lyn – Avaldsnes
    27 Sep: Vålerenga – Klepp
27 Sep: Sandviken – Arna Bjørnar (on NRK)

Rosenborg will probably face Kolbotn's Americans and have their work cut out to stay undefeated. Kolbotn isn't high on the table but on their day can be a days work. And another draw for RBK would be trouble for their European aspirations.

Røa has a history of causing LSK problems but will be much harder with them in a dog fight for points as opposed to their usual runaway leaders confidence.

The Western derby should be exciting. Both A-B and Sandviken badly need a win and the points.

Lyn are on form but over their heads I think with an Avaldsnes on better form. How far can Avaldsnes rise this year? If they keep winning there's not much season left and they will medal for sure.

Vålerenga gets their chance to catch their breath with Klepp before meeting Rosenborg and LSK back to back in what will decide their placement.
