In case you're wondering what happened in the locker room at halftime: Paul Riley: Said he probably hasn't chewed out Debinha at halftime ever before, but he did that today b/c he thought she played poor in the first half. Debinha obviously responded. #NCvHOU— Neil Morris (@ByNeilMorris) September 12, 2020 I'd say it worked, Paul Riley.
I like James Clarkson, but he may have been too frank with the TV crew. He told them that Dahlkemper, Debinha, and Ln. Williams were the best 3 players who would be on the field before the game started. I doubt his players will respond well to that. Dahlkemper made up for her giveaway. The four goals were from Dahlkemper, Debinha (2) and Ln. Williams. Debinha had a poor first half per Paul Riley - the reason was Sophie Schmidt. I think Schmidt, Chapman, and Prince, not to mention Daly must get really pissed off every time they hear that Houston has no National Team players. They have some damn good ones. Regardless of what Riley told M. Pilla on the field after the game, Ryan Williams was poor and Kurtz was beat like a drum by Prince - in the second half I thought HOU moved Prince to the other side, giving Kurtz a reprieve. NC would have lost if Chapman had kept herself in the game.
In this covid year, lots of rookies are getting an opportunity. I counted 9 that appeared in the Wash/Chi game, and three of them were undrafted. Wash: Sanchez, Jacobs, McClure, and McCool (undrafted) Chi: Biegalski, Morse, Chavarin, Luebbert (undrafted and scored a goal), and Rhodes (undrafted) I've been semi-impressed with undrafted McCool and Luebbert. And Rhodes almost got a goal in her first minute on the field.
