Its back for another season - FANTASY OLYMPICS 2020-2021

Congrats to last seasons worthy winner - SASHA JUNIORS (USA)

Here is a quick recap of the rules -

As usual, the Fantasy Olympic weekly winners will be the top scorers across 'All Rocks Leagues' - earning Gold, Silver and Bronze.

The All Rocks League will be used to collect scores for our internal competitions. All 32 teams are in (hopefully).

Gold , Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded with NO exclusions ! (so there could be 3 Gold - 3 Silver and 3 Bronze in any week if the points decree. )

    Gold Medal = 5 pts Silver = 3 pts Bronze = 1 pt

The winner is the one at the end of the season with the most POINTS in total. In case of a tie Gold medals are counted, then Silver medals and then Bronze.

Each game week a wooden spoon will be awarded for the lowest score this incurs a penalty of -1.0pt which could have a disastrous effect on your total points haul at the end of the season (deductions will be made after the last game !)

Good luck to all managers and may the best manager triumph.

No wooden spoon this year. No need. The person who finishes last each week will be shamed. Oh yes. SHAMED. Unless that happens to be me, in which case I won't be shamed as it's my tournament and if you don't like it I'll pack it up and leave!

Also, none of this 5pts malarkey. Too easy to get a couple of wins on the trot and race away from everyone. Oh no. You want to win this you do it the hard way. 3pts for Gold. 2pts for Silver and 1pt for Bronze.

Football isn't about fancy flicks and high scoring goal gluts. It's about attrition and grinding out the victory until your knuckles bleed.

I've watched enough Scottish football, both domestically and internationally to know this too be true. It's about time all you scoundrels realised that as well.

Now lets get on with it. Oh and anyone that tries playing a 3-5-2 with only 1 recognised CB and only 1 recognised CF will receive an automatic season long ban. I have enough of that crap from Steve Clarke without having it shoved in my face on here as well.

If any of my defenders spend more than half the game in their own half they will be dispatched form my team immediately. Entertain me ... or leave ! :)

Hello Rockers! First week of the new season is in the bag. When it starts is at the end of your nose. When it stops... nobody knows!!

    So, to the medals.

And what a bloody great start for Stormin' Gunners! (I added the apostrophe as I feel it gives it a bit more oomph. YW). No big hitters needed to grab gold on the first day of the season. Is this a sign of things to come? Better not be I've got Aubameyang! Nice selection of last seasons golden boot winner as Capitano. Vardy was ably backed up by a MotM performance from Willian in his first competitive match in an Arsenal shirt. We will wait to see with interest in our open teams as to whether or not Zaha can continue to find the net with any regularity in his new advanced role. And an 8pt haul for Coady who wasn't exactly a bonus magnet last season. Hmmm... the new normal is so overused these days but...

Now I do have a bit of a gripe for Stormin because he kind of messed up my 70's DISCO themed link as I was expecting the top three teams to feature the player I am about to sing about shortly. Team 2 to 4 did though so I feel I can still carry on without too much of a derailment.

    *ahem - clears throat*

    S.A.L.A.H.
    S.A.L.A.H.
    S.A.L.A.H.
    S.A.L.A.H.

    He is Salah.

He is S - a Striker (though categorised as a midfielder for fantasy football purposes)
    He is A - Athletic
He is L - plays for Liverpool
He is A - on All the penalties
    He is Hhhhammedd Salah!

Yep. Salah = Captain = set and forget = *yawn*

I'm not suggesting Liverpool get a lot of pens but some pundits are suggesting Salah could be on for 50+ goals this season...

Come on people!! This is Rocks FF. Don't be obvious! Don't follow the crowd!! Be a Gunner!!

    BE TOP!

Glorydaze grabbed second with help also from Digne (a FF favourite) and the Geordies new hope - Callum Wilson. What a first goal for the club. Did you see it? An absolute pearler!!

belch, sorry typo, blech got bronze although I feel like I should offer him immunity from the first week of the Olympics. :D Just kidding of course... :cautious:

So yes a bronze with Salah as captain and err.. erm.. let me just check my notes again...... ahh yes Salah and 10 others.

Normally commiserations would be in order for just missing out in 4th place but in this case I have no idea how Kopite managed to score less than blech!

So to the bottom team and the SHAME!!

Tangers FC with a lowly 19pts

He captained Mane - shame really
Ziyech was injured and didn't feature - shame really
He had 2 Spurs players in his line-up (you are aware Mourinho is their manager right??) - shame really
No player scored more than 4pts - shame really

So the final medal table for week 1 reads as follows --

    GOLD - Stormin' Gunners
    SILVER - Glorydaze
    BRONZE - blechs_dawgs

The medal table will be available from next week. I aim to attach it an an EXCEL document. We can do that on BS can't we? If not we'll go old school with a stone tablet and a large flint.

    Aye?

    Why Aye Man!

    Until then

    ' Don't go chasing the

Ach well. Not the 2nd week I was hoping for but at least the money we spent on the medical tent looks like a sound investment.

No songs this week. Got a bit of a sore throat ... and a cough that won't go away ... feeling a bit hot under the collar after a poor GW as well. Being part of the coaching team in our local football club means I've been for a test and I am negative so nothing to worry about (from a Covid viewpoint, don't get me started on football...)

Medals for this week as follows ---

    Gold - Soccer Steve - 79pts
    Silver - Lokomitov Lewisham - 77pts
    Bronze - ColdDogSoupFC - 76pts

Soccer Steve had a really nice balanced weekend with good points totals harvested from Ings, Calvert-Lewin (aka the new Duncan Ferguson), Harvey Barnes and the Ball Buster from Brussels Kevin De Bruyne. I know, I know. I can hear you all saying he's from Drongen you looney! Yeah, yeah but it's on 40ml down the E40 to the capital so that works for me.

Anyhoo, nice job Soccer Steve

Loko Lewisham grabbed the Silver spot mainly through his two big hitters Mane and Kane. Mane and Kane... sounds like a new Tuesday night cop show on FOX. Couldn't be any worse than Shades of Blue! Ray Liotta took the proverbial pee on that one. Even having J-Lo on screen for 90% of the series couldn't save it.

CDS which looks suspiciously similar to CSS (I need to get my legal team to look into that :coffee:) grabbed bronze with a big helping of captain size Barry Kane pie! Although if he had started young wonderkid Foden he'd have grabbed gold. Every cloud and all that... :D

So I couldn't attach the table as an excel document so have done it as a PDF.

If that isn't working or is annoying anyone (other than @lobomojo) of course then let me know and I'll go back to just adding it onto the post as per previous seasons.

No shaming this week. I feel like I'd be close to putting myself in that category and I'll be damned if that's happening. Not on my watch. No sir-eee.

GW3 is in the books and are we already beginning to see a couple of early pace setters appear, or should that be disappearing, over the horizon...?

    GOLD - Lokomotiv Lewisham - 63pts
    SILVER - Journeymen - 62pts
    BRONZE - Stormin' Gunners - 57pts

LL takes over top spot with a 2nd medal in succession. Going one better than last week by grabbing gold this time. Very nicely done as well with no one scoring more than 10pts but 6 players on the team scoring 6 or more. Spread the wealth people, spread the wealth.

Journeymen jump onto the medal table and into attack mode with a very impressive Gameweek from the front 3. Richarlison (c), Vardy and Maupay contributing to 41 of the 62 points. The gold medal and the glory could have been his. 3 players scored 0 and his sub keeper had a whopping 10pts. A bitter sweet silver this time but more to come in the future perhaps...?

Stormin' (aye the ' is still there) also rode a red hot attack with Vardy captained and helped along by Richarlison and Lacazette for an even more impressive 49pts between the three of them. Defence let the gunners down (how apt ) with two players collecting negative points.

FC Epikoinos scored a lowly 16pts with 5 players in the squad getting no minutes this week and a 6th contributing a big fat duck egg. I feel his pain.

Get fit people! Or the season will be over before you even get on the pitch.

Sorry guys. Due to that wonderful virus Covid-19 I have been working on a P/T basis with my company since August. However the last 10-14 days have seen a dramatic surge (which I am not complaining about) in workload and left me gasping for time for this.

I will get it updated soon but work and family are hogging the limelight at present.

Oh and before I go --- F you Mr Ancelotti. If you say a guy isn't going to start a match don't suddenly u-turn 24hrs before the game

Soccer Steve gets things done with a combination of Calvert-Lewin with the captains armband over first round draft pick DeBruyne and the Liverpool pairing of Matip and Robertson. Wood's first goal in six gameweeks was extra bonus.

Sasha Juniors settling with silver as Lamptey gets the red card in extra time with Bellerin, Son, Fernandes and Calvert-Lewin all in the Budweiser Kings of the Gameweek. Budweiser?

Pararaiders get Bronze and of note have the four clean sheets with the London pairings of Zouma and Chilwell and Masuaka and Cresswell. Two medals in two gameweeks as the backline leads the way with Fernandes as the foundation.

Kicking and Screaming were inches from Gold with Guaita chosen over Llorris and a Man City midfield of Mahrez, Sterling and Silva who disappointed.

    Second Gold for Soccer Steve!

blechs-dawgs grabbed gold this weekend to go with the silver and bronze already won this campaign. Mahrez gets most of the credit but Jarrod Bowen came true after a long drought. Salah as captain maintained a solid average score and Lloris has his second double digit haul in a row.

Glorydaze also got a double digit haul from the keeper that edged out Lloris for King of the Gameweek. Sam Johnstone of West Brom who got the nod over McCarthy. Captain Salah was also there and Callum Wilson, Jack Grealish and Gabriel all with impressive outings.

FC Epikoinis gets Bronze in style with Cavani, Jota, Torres and Ward-Prowse after wildcarding at the beginning of November to get most of those names on his squad

Morning everyone. Apologies for having been absent on here recently. Unavoidable unfortunately. It may have looked like I haven't been looking after my team as I haven't made any amendments to my squad (and my goodness does my squad need amendments!!) but I have been able to have my team line-up kept up to date for each match day.

Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things now with my usually useless player swaps that do little other than add -4 onto my weekly score...

Thank you to @tarvinodos and @blech for continuing with the fantasy olympics in my absence.
