As of right now FIFA says they will start up in October.
October 8th against Venezuela and the 13th at Chile.

    True.
CQ should have a better roster to choose from this fall compared to March.

no ones played for a while. Hopefully our guys will have match fitness

think games will be pushed back again if they can’t have fans in stadiums. I don’t think teams will want to play without home field advantage

If no one has played for a while then that is something all South American teams have to put up with so everyone is basically at an equal footing.

The home field issue is going to be very interesting. I am not sure they will put it off much longer unless they are seriously thinking about 2 Groups of 5 instead of the everyone play everyone format.

I have been hearing this rumor for a few weeks now but many teams in South America are considering just playing domestic players for qualifiers.
Peru is one of those I heard about early on but now I am hearing a bunch of other teams including Venezuela our first scheduled match.

Mix in they have problems within their Federation with alleged Government corruption/intervention AND a new manager and things would be set up for us to kick some major arse in October in Barranquilla.

    (I know, I know...
... Venezuela always gives us problems.)

Hey man, it is a much better position than they are in.
Muriel and Duvan and Diaz, etc running at a bunch of Venezuelan League defenders and a Venezuelan based Keeper????

I cannot pretend that I am not excited of the possibility of seeing that.

    Might I add,,,
,,,Venezuelan players who have never played a game under a Portuguese manager who has never coached in South America before and barely knows the players names I imagine.
If we lose a game like that we might as well fire Queiroz and close up shop right now.
    :p
But seriously I know that with his tactics it can be a headache and with possibly no fans even more of a headache.
I am just going with my gut and trying to be somewhat optimistic about the possible circumstances.

Managers usually win in their debuts

well this helps teams with most their players domestically which is not us

a all Colombian league team would be 4/5th string for us.

If it’s a South American + Mexico based team on maybe a B or C team

no Starting line up guys play in South America for us

And what are the testing procedures for those local players? Out guys can get covid off them

Also our guys might have to quarantine coming back to their clubs and they might not wanna do that

Yeah... This definitely can't work well. Basically any player participating would need to quarantine and miss weeks with their teams?

Seems only way to do this safely prior to a vaccine, would be to get the teams in a mini bubble for a month and round robin.

Well with a vaccine supposedly coming out in November, we'll have to wait and see how things go despite the positive reports from it. I just hope that it counts and makes thing stablize finally.

Meh... There is a lot of concern on whether clinical trials will be complete by that timing...

Honestly I am sure with the public opinion high on a cure I trust that we'll get something to at least reduce the cases significantly; if they ******** this up, there will be a backlash without a single doubt.

So i am fairly optimistic with whatever they have plan to release.

Bless your heart, Fro. Russia has already started circulating vaccines ahead of clinical trial completion. There are no vaccines timelines known at this time in the US that would line up for November (despite the fact several have advanced into final stages these things take time). The CDC communicating that there may be a vaccine this fall while it's own study timelines don't line up is worrisome.

    Here is a helpful article:

    https://fortune.com/2020/08/11/covid-vaccine-when-timeline-progress-access-rollout/

You essentially need a miracle to close studies by fall and even then would only limit availability to a small population. More likely this doesn't happen until next year.

Azar has now also backed off his comments saying they want states to be ready to distribute immediately whenever it's ready even if by Nov, but that he means that 'regardless' not that he is saying one will be available...

Happy that we'll get Away Match against Chile early so that we don't have to worry about it later in the stages....although I must admit playing against Uruguay, maybe I am too optimistic for a home win? I think we can do it but it depends...

I sure as hell don't fear Venezuela at home and playing against Educator in their own stadium could be tricky if we don't play with confidence and do what is needed.
