England U18 left-back Matthew Bondswell has been loaned from #RBLeipzig to FC #Dordrecht in Holland to get first team experience. The Champions League semi-finalists do not have a B team for young players— Mike McGrath (@mcgrathmike) August 19, 2020 Another example of top clubs sending players to the Dutch leagues to learn how to defend.
Wijnaldum being linked with Barca. He will be 30 in November though https://talksport.com/football/7486...r-georginio-wijnaldum-ronald-koeman-wishlist/
Memphis is being linked too. I think both Gini and Memphis are in their final years of contracts... so could be cheap options for money-strapped Koeman. The move that I really like to see is Donny V.d Beek (maybe with Suarez the other way around to Ajax to finance this). Donny and Frenkie grew up together in Ajax system, and have solid understanding with each other. Both running the show in Barca midfield would be awesome to watch. A Xavi-Iniesta version 2.0? Would translate well to Oranje N.T.
NY Times Columnist Rory Smith on the Barca situation: If Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Barcelona president, was trying to project an image of dynamism, and decisiveness, and power, then he succeeded. Within 72 hours of his team’s humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich last week, Bartomeu had: told his sporting director to fire his coach; fired his sporting director; announced a list of players he considered the integral cornerstones of the club’s future; and, by omission, effectively revealed that everyone else was available for sale. If all of that was designed to project an image of control, though, it fell short. Barcelona’s new coach, Ronald Koeman, has a wealth of experience, but there is little in his managerial career to suggest he would have been given this chance if he were not a former Barcelona player. His appointment smacked of panic. So, too, did the very public revelation that Barcelona would listen to offers for at least half of its current squad, the likes of Gerard Piqué, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba included. That Barcelona needs an overhaul is no great revelation. That the central problem with carrying it out will be freeing up space in the team — and on the wage bill — is blindingly obvious. The problem is there are only a handful of teams that can afford the salaries that the likes of Piqué and Suárez and the others command. Only a small portion of that handful would be likely to commit to those salaries when most of these players are approaching the twilight of their careers. So all Bartomeu’s announcement did was irritate several players he may not be able to offload, and guarantee that potential buyers feel empowered to take advantage of Barcelona’s desperation. It felt like the act of a man who needed to be seen to do something. Quite how, exactly, he plans to do it seems to remain open to question.
Barca do not need a 30 year old MF, they already have enough of those. Don't forget they already have Pjanic coming in from Juventus. Wijnaldum is not going to Barcelona unless they are stupider than they have been. Mephis is going to want a high salary if he does leave Lyon and there are only a few teams that will offer that. de Jong grew up with Willem II and moved to Ajax when he was 18. Suarez has already stated he is staying with Barca. Ajax is not going to be spending much on transfers unless players leave, van der Sar and Overmars stated as much. They run a big risk as long as match day income is affected by COVID-19.
Can anyone make out what he says at the end?? These hooligans really need to start wearing their teams jerseys so we can figure out who won Voetbal hooligans in hartje Groningen pic.twitter.com/GLsliKlFpM— JAS Hekkema (@jeanetteweggem1) September 5, 2020
PSG had 7 starters missing because of COVID-19 and injuries. I was surprised that Bakker did not start the match. He did not do much of anything in the 10 minutes he was on the pitch. Wijndal is a better LB prospect. I think Ajax let him go because of his lack of speed.
He had no clue about how to defend against Leeds. I'm glad to see Bielsa in the EPL with a team that is playing full out attacking football. I think they will surprise a lot of clubs this season. They are now in contention to be by 2nd favorite club.

Forget Virgil... how about that Leeds CB Pascal Struijk? Defended like a rock, shut down Firmino allright. Only 21 years old. Born in Belgium, but had represented Oranje U17. Started with ADO, also played for Ajax.
Looks like Beek will get some playing time this weekend: https://www.bd.nl/buitenlands-voetb...iciele-debuut-bij-manchester-united~a28cada6/
Speed is overrated. Speed is for those running behind the facts. Smart players are at the right place in the right time.
LOL, I don't think Dest will make much of a difference for Bayern if he transfers. They are leading Schalke 8-0 near the end of the match!
LOL....I made one post on their forum and got total shit from their moderator who though I was trolling (which I wasnt) Can I post what he wrote me, or is that private??
