Maybe we should get together and pool some money to send @GunnerJacket on the PCT starting around next March

Man, Auba is such a good dude. He is so gracious, diplomatic, and seems like a genuinely good person to be around. Super happy for Emi as well.

IMO, I'm now firm in my belief we should keep Emi and sell Leno if outbound transfers are needed to find our rebuild

None of those can be real.

Thanks for the great thread. I was sick and sleeping and reading it gave me a 5 minute emotional roller coaster.

Throw in a comely lady trail guide and you got a deal. I'm expecting this job won't endure the State fiscal year, anyway.

OK, I fully admit to being very worried a couple of weeks ago, staring at consecutive games vs Liverpool and Man City. But man, it's been a really wonderful couple of weeks. An FA Cup, which I value more than the Champions League, against Chelsea? Perfection.

And as Americans, we got the double bonus: Pulisic played really well, scoring a nifty goal and showing pace (and what was most likely a second goal before pulling his hamstring), and we still won. Arsenal wins, American shows well. And we denied Frank Lampard. It was a win-win-win.

Though not for the ref. He lost today.

Don't be such a stranger Val. I remember your penchant for the English cups, especially FA Cup. Today was a great, if partly lucky, final!!

I've been really impressed with Martinez since he took over the job from Leno. He's done really well in the typical aspects of goalkeeping, but tbh I'm even more impressed with his bearing and poise.

Given a man basically playing for his career and doing well, I wouldn't begrudge him at all if he displayed lots of emotion and theatricality, like Jordan Pickford or Peter Schmeichel. But he doesn't, he's very effective, very low-key, he just drains all the emotional juice out of opponents threats. He's got to be great to play with.

"And here comes a cross! Oh, Martinez has it."

I don't know what to think about the defense. Under Arteta, it's much better and there's fewer goals, but in the early part of the game it looked just utterly shambolic. And for some of the names I've heard, I wonder how much they'd improve us. Eg, Malang Sarr, is he a locked-on starter if he played for Arsenal? I don't know.

We gotta hope William Saliba comes up aces, sell a couple others to make room on the roster.

how does that work? if they win EL, do they get an extra seat for the nation or do they push the lowest seed out?

Seriously. Much respect to @GunnerJacket for actually following through and going on multiple hikes when it’s really hot. For a soccer team 4000 miles away.

    You're all welcome!

I appreciate it but to be honest it's not that tall an ask. I love a good day in the woods, there's plenty of waterfalls or mountain vistas in the area, and given the pandemic it's one of the best and only ways to get out and stay healthy. I try to get in at least 50 miles a year, anyway. Throw in the paddling, and tubing and at least my dating profile looks exciting!

As for missing the games and superstition... Like I said, half the fun of all this is feeling like you really are part of something. It's all in good fun, like buying a lottery ticket: You're paying a small price to add extra juice to your dreams.

And if Arsenal wins... It means the dream comes true now and again!

I'm loving the Martinez story, but no fans at the moment me makes me worried. Surely having 15k away supporters behind your back heckling you plays a role in who's a pretender and who's legit.

Koscielny, Cazorla, and Ozil all send congratulations and this is the social media post we get from Guendouzi. There might be a way back for Ozil, but there is absolutely no way back for Guendouzi.

Maybe GunnerJacket can do something to get Aubameyang to stay now too? Might as well keep the good luck flowing.

Given the cause and my latent abilities this means either a walk-a-thon fundraiser or hiking to one of the two mystical destinations in the area - A haunted mine or the ancient Cherokee "Center of the World." I'm not sure about the ethereal powers available at each but I'm confident in my memory of horror films that I could visit one of them and conjure up some risk-free good fortune! I lack a physical token of PEA's, however, so if someone could offer me some of his hair or maybe a used tissue...

If true, it just confirms (sadly) that he isn't suitable to play for our club. Also sadly, the price we might get for him is going to be devalued because of all the crap that's gone on. Damn, I remember having high hopes for the kid... right up until the Dubai incident probably.
