Probably not the worst idea. As long as Jorginho and Rudiger aren't anywhere near the side, fine by me.
This was one of the worst Chelsea games I’ve ever experienced. The loss. The game. It’s Arsenal. The injuries. F’ing dumpster fire. Great metaphor for 2020. When the final whistle sounded and Arsenal started celebrating, it just seemed non-sensical...like my brain couldn’t process it. You won something for THAT? I love sports and love Chelsea, but I don’t live or die on wins and losses anymore, but this one really frustrates me. If it’d felt like an even game, even if we got blown out for playing badly, it wouldn’t bother me that much, but this is the worst. They can’t figure out how to work the trophy. Perfect.
It looks like the ball might be right on the line there but it's annoying they didn't even show it during the game.
Alright, besides a shocking performance from the ref...and being utterly cursed with injuries... ...we were awful. We didn’t exist in midfield. Was Kante hurt and unable to play? I have to say that Jorginho is the worst regular starter I have seen at this club. Useless going forward, useless defending. What does he offer? I’d take Barks over him any day of the week and I mean ********.. Barkley is bang on average. Twice, TWICE, Auba had 30 yards of space on the lefthand side. That was beyond shocking to witness - we moan about left back all season long meanwhile we get decimated on the right and boy.. its confusing. Where was Reece James? How does a team playing with a wingback and a third CB allow for that much space to be had? Unless its off a hard counter, I have trouble explaining that one away. Oli was terrible after the first 20. This team needed halftime subs and a kick in the ********ing ass and Frank, imo, fell short here. Bummer all around.
And mentally we just do not exist. After their goal we looked beaten. Half hearted crying about some calls but no fire. Remember when Jt and co used to go absolutely ********ing ballistic over shitty decisions? These guys are so god damn soft man, where is the ********ing fire? Nowhere to be seen. Only Pulisic seems like he really gave a shit. Frustrating all around.
Frank summed it up well and he said pretty much the same thing... At about 50 seconds he identifies exactly what you said about pointless back and forth passing in the middle of the park with absolutely zero attempt to take people on, pass it forward or otherwise make something happen. TBH I agree about Jorginho as he was one of the worst in that regard. As you say, at least Barks would try and do something, even if he fecked it up. What seems obvious to me is that in the absence of Kante, Gilmour should be a nailed-on starter as, without him, we have nobody else who can put their foot on it and bring any element of control in the midfield. Unfortunately, again, another injury
