It is a league that has only been around since 1996 and just does not have the means or the enthusiasm as other countries do for the sport. All things considered it has improved leaps and bounds from where it was originally but it still has a long way to go.
Atuesta has grown as a player in MLS. I don't think he'd have ever developed the tactical or defensive awareness he has if he hadn't left Colombia. Of course, that may be more a result of playing under Bob Bradley than of playing in MLS generally. If this Ajax deal goes down, I'd definitely say that going to MLS was the right move for him. But I don't know about the legitimacy of this rumor. All mentions I've read of this interest specifically reference that tweet as a source, which isn't a very reliable source. More than likely, he's in MLS for the rest of this season. And, frankly, if he finishes up this season in the best 11 like he did last year, it'd be a testament to the low clout MLS has if only Ajax is asking for him...
should mention that we also do not know if the regular MLS season will commence, the games that are being played are pretty much a pre season tourney. I have a feeling there will be no MLS because apparently the virus is still running wild here
not NT argenina players anymore after that step.....these argentinians..... This migration of youngster going to MLS isnt new (like more than 10 years)....and the true is that the mayority of these guys dont become elite players....
especially there is no investmen in defense.........the gamble is to invest all franchise salaries in offesnive players for espectale but the defense is so bad...
IT is difficult to invest in young defenders and keepers who have potential for most leagues. Those are gobbled up by Euro Leagues right away usually.
Uruguayns and Colombians in these positions are exportation material in south america leagues with low prices and good performances I think the issue is more related with scouting Also the fact that the defense is SO BAD in the league should have relation with the structure of fomartion of the league.
The way things are set up you cannot invest in all areas no matter how good you scout. There are restrictions on MLS as a single entity league that are not imposed by any other league in the World. So they are working a bit with their hands behind their back. Scouting should improve a bit but it can only do so much. Most of the money that is allotted for big money signings is invested in either older players who are established or younger guys who can be good... ...but that has only really happened in the last few years. And Defense and Keepers are the ones who are usually sacrificed because they usually do not put people in the seats or sell tickets.
I honestly wouldn’t say it’s a horrible league... but shit I mean why not give it a try if it’s a chance to go to Europe.
More and more scouts look at this league as it improves. Can’t not give it credit look where it was to what it is now lol and if young Colombian or any South American players wanna go to MLS I think it’s a good chance now. If MLS can produce a Colombian player like Davies I’ll be a happy guy lol
Colombia and Uurguay produce a lot of good defenders very cheap!!! Is issue of scouting....you dont have to wait to buy a player is "until he is a promise" in his origin league.....good scouting is not scput in professional leagues...but in youth leagues Euro teams do it...
We see some of these player rumored to go to MLS and everyone here groans saying no not MLS. Atlanta made it more fashionable to scout South America and Los Angeles seems to be following suit. I think more will. And some won't just cause they are horrible organizations which does contribute to why the League does seem horrible to you and others. I have seen it grow so much since 1996 though so I am not giving up on it.
Almost 95% of south young players that go there are out of the map of the NTs....and lost priority with the players of european leagues, mexico and south american leagues for national teams and elite teams .......also their developement with the years isnt ideal... Im sure if higuita, michael barrios, juan santiago mosquera and others had aspirations to be colombian nt players and players in europe...know that aspirations gone away because of mls And if they go to europe, with few exceptions go to big teams.... Dont get confused with the hype in social netwirk.......for a reason the arrival of players n the mls are the big news not the sales to europe Yeah davies cases....are exepections that have happened before like de guzman cases, dempsey....not north american players are banned to play in mls......but the possibilities are low still in nowadays compared to europe. Colombia is selling direct to europe....i dont see reason to pass to another league where the posibilites of national team and to sold to europe are smaller....football reasons
Not always and not the way we want it to. When we sell directly to Europe, it falls into one of 4 categories: 1) The player was part of a squad that had a tremendous showing in Libertadores/Sudamericana: Sanchez, Marlos, Diaz 2) The player is already part of the NT or impressed with the youth NTs: Diaz, Cuesta, Carrascal, Borre 3) The player is totally under the radar, playing for a lesser club, and is valued at a price that makes the move very low risk for a lower European club: Lerma, Carvajal, Agudelo, Sinisterra, Carrascal, Morelos 4) The player destroys the competition from the moment they debut at an extremely young age: Cucho, Sanchez, Marlos The thing is, a LOT of these guys are purchased and assigned immediately to youth squads. Colombia sells kids with potential at low prices OR guys who've gotten pedigree in realms outside of FPC. It's INSANE how many players under the age of 23 have risen to be among the top 5-10 guys in our league and couldn't get European transfers. Benedetti, Cantillo, Mina, Campuzano, Uribe, Villa, Perez, Barrios. Luckily there are clubs like Genk paying more attention now. But, once you hit a certain age, and you're not part of the NT, FPC really isn't that much better than MLS...
Yeah man I agree. I feel like we could sell more directly from Colombia. But this year seems like a big year for Colombian players to make some smart moves. I’ve been saying for years Brazil hasn’t really been producing great players like they used to before. That’s just my opinion and feel like Colombia should be looked at more plus we are a cheaper but with a bucket load of quality players in our country.
Dont got europe transfers but to a big teams and better leagues than mls...that actually are being watched by NT and by europe....and that contibute a lot of the evolution of footballers. I dont imagine barrios presence in World cup 2018 and in national if he would go to mls and not to boca.....the same for Mina. Lerma and Moreloa despite they didnt arrive to the best teams...they are closer to elite football than all colombian mls players. ...bornemouth wouldnt paid 30 millions to a mls team....nowadays they are part of mational team and are consolidated players in eurooe
Colombia ia exprting more....but brasil continues to be on top just the guys of madrid militao vinicius and rodrygo.....is a sample of what they do
you haven't watched enough. Also, they don't really export many players at all to europe not sure where you get that impression they are awesome at marketing and promoting their league though which people buy into

I think he would perfom very well in spain in these type of middle league teams....his hability to pass (that for me is his only big virtue) would fit perfectly in la Liga.
