Yea I think “trash” is a bit extreme. What’s frustrating is that he hasn’t improved like other young US prospects. He’s similar to Carleton without the off the field drama. Cole Basset is another that I had expected to see more improvement from. I think the lack of US player sales from MLS that we had hoped would have happened by now, and FCD’s exit from the tourney amplifies any US prospects not living up to expectations.

"I don't know how much longer I'm going to get to coach him, but I'm going to enjoy every day." -Curtin in Brenden Aaronson— Union Nation (@PHLUnionNation) July 31, 2020
Hopeful that we'll get FCD versus Nashville next week.................. It's being reported by both Buzz and from the Nashville equivalent. I'm hearing the current plan is for #EveryoneN to play #DTID next Friday in Frisco, the first of three matches to make up their missed #MLSisBack group stage games. More details to come.— Ben Wright (@benwright) July 30, 2020
What's the problem? It's open season on barely 18 yo kid. He had a couple subpar games in a shitty tournament. Let's all call him trash.
Agree wholeheartedly with this take. There are undoubtedly some clubs in MLS where youth isn’t given any chance to show what they can do or develop in meaningful games, but Vermes has given Busio plenty of opportunities the last couple years. It’s up to Busio to actually do something with them at some point. It’s the same road as all of our other top players in Europe. You start out getting minutes here and there off the bench, then you become a regular sub- then, if you do enough with those minutes- you become a consistent starter. Busio seems to have hit a wall the last year or so where he can’t get over that last hurdle.
Benji Michel comes on at HT and Daryl Dike comes on at the 71st minute for OC Friday night. Neither took one of the 5 PKs Orlando converted to advance past LAFC.
Pareja magic............................ It may take a while for him to build up his stable of young players in Orlando, but he'll get there. I'm not sure an MLS coach has accomplished more with less than Pareja in his time with Colorado and Dallas. Virtually this same group of Orlando players was one of the worst teams in the league last season. Its just example #8634098753 that coaching does in fact matter.
Yup I’m glad to see them get it all together. Their fans the first couple seasons were great. Hard to stay a fan of a new team when they lose most of their games each season. You wonder if Mueller could have had more upside if he was coached by Pareja the whole time. I hope Mueller’s shoulder is okay, looks like an AC joint separation. Really excited to watch FCD and Nashville. They need to play those games ASAP if the regular season is going to start Aug 22nd.
pareja in a pretty talent rich place for replicating the dallas experience. would be absolutely gigantic for us soccer. also would apply a ton of pressure on miami to keep up. fingers extra crossed for sure. honestly the name of the game in mls is not overpaying for an international player to come in and play at domestic replacement level
Maybe they soured on American players after Landon Donovan took their money to develop his game and basically forced them to loan him to MLS?
It's not like they were trying to play him in Regionalliga when he was already on USMNT. Development my ass.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Sporting Director has identified Brenden Aaronson as a player he will look to sign this summer. #DOOP #USMNT https://t.co/UJuF3dgbES— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) August 1, 2020
My worry is he’s grouped with a 16 and 17yr old which makes me think he may not transition right away to the first team like Tyler Adams did. Adams was pretty well established for RB at a young age and proved his value consistently. Aaronson has proved his value in this tournament, but there’s been inconsistency. I’m not doubting Aaronson’s ability, but would prefer he makes the move at the end of the MLS season. I think that gives him a better shot at the Gladback first team.
Yeah I’d rather he see out the rest of 2020 with the Union and continue to try and impose his will on matches. However, there’s a lot of morons in this country and there may not be a finish to this MLS season because of cases. The transfer window closes Oct 5 though, so there’s not a rush.
One of those players is already playing regularly in the Spanish second division, and would only go to Gladbach on loan from Barcelona. The other is almost certainly looked at for the youth teams. I don't think Aaronson would be looked at for anything other than the first team. Would he walk into the team and start? Maybe not, but I don't think the team is so good in his position that he couldn't earn minutes. If it doesn't go well, he can always go out on loan. It's a pretty big club. Champions League football. Probably about the highest level club that has interest in Aaronson.
I suspect that from point of view of CL club, he might be a better prospect than Almiron was 2 years ago.
I hope he ends up better than Almiron. Almiron was a huge flop, which anyone could see before he even left MLS. He had no right foot, and was nowhere near as offensively talented as MLS made him look.
Almiron is never going to score 20 goals in the prem but he had 8 this year in all comps and was generally a very solid player for Newcastle. And their fans valued his relentless work rate. This post is not factual
Yea NYCFC has no reason to play him. It’s too bad the deal wasn’t done with some sort of incentive for him to get minutes adding a higher fee.
NYCFC kinda has a reason. If Scally ends up doing well at Gladbach then the $2 million deal could end up growing to $7 million. Plus if he’s good enough to help them win games why not use him?
A topic I think about quite often. The "Jesus Ferreira Conundrum." What position should Ferreira play? How does one fit Ferreira, Pomykal, Servania, Barrios, and a #9 (one of Jara, Cobra, Pepi) on the field at the same time? The crux of the problem: Ferreira and Pomykal can’t both play at the free-8/10 at the same time. Buzz attempts to find a solution........................ I have this #DTID theory I've been stewing on for a bit (the team isn't playing, what else am I going to do?)I call it "The Jesus Ferreira Conundrum"https://t.co/w844s8Y0daGive it a try if you want an #FCDallas soccer nerd fix.— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) August 3, 2020
