I mean that in NZ when we had cases where they could not find the point of infection So in vietnam, they now have a case, who was infected by someone probably asymptomatic and they cannot locate that person The mystery is in the construction. The infected person did not leave his locale. But somone else definitely imported it. We know that.
Vietnam has always had a few cases. I'm not aware of that one ... presumably in contact with someone who didn't have symptoms, and was negative by the time they started testing contacts ... good chance they did locate them, and then tested after it had passed. Day one, anything was possible, given they've identified probable cases in the UK now as early as December, and in New Jersey as early as November. Now with testing being done quite extensively, these cases just don't appear. Look at the dozen or so cases that have popped up in covid-free Atlantic Canada in the last 2-3 weeks ... all trace back to a traveller from central and western Canada, or the USA. And all the outbreaks get quickly isolated, and then vanish. Though the fail in covid-free Manitoba is epic ... from that big funeral in Alberta, that's also significantly worsened the situation in Saskatchewan. Also that one shows the value of having 2-week quarantine periods entering parts of a country that are covid-free.
That sounds like a pleasant experience compared to me. The county testing isn't taking any new reservations because they are so booked, my insurance won't test unless you are actually sick, the testing for the poor requires waiting with other possible infectees for hours hoping they don't run out of tests for the day before your turn, and while there are $200 and up tests available, I have a hobby called paying rent that I really want to keep doing. And that's in a rich county that hasn't actually been hit that hard.
There was someone spouting crazy disinformation in the produce department today and it's a good thing for him that the store has a strict no-slapping-a-fool policy because I was seriously about to slap a fool. And he ended it all with "it's nothing worse than a flu". That might have worked on naïve people in March, but what kind of bubble are you in if you still believe that now? There hasn't been death from flu like this in a century. There are plenty of reports of how the illness strikes multiple organs for extended periods of time. There are literally posts from people who thought this was like the flu and learned the hard way (sometimes the hardest way) they were wrong. Even if all they watched was Fox News they wouldn't be that wrong.
I have said this numerous times: It's amazing how stupid smart people are. Pinker is definitely qualified to talk when it comes to psychology and linguistics. His brazen cooption and misrepresentation of other disciplines is disheartening to say the least. I'd wish Harvard had written some editorial overview of his publications into their contract. He'd do well to co-author a book with an actual evolutionary biologist, but I don't think his ego would tolerate a second name on the front page.
Ralph’s suspends employee for pepper-spraying customer who rammed her with shopping cart when she asked him to wear mask https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/202...pepper-spray-shopping-cart-ramming-face-mask/
Could be because those catching the virus right now tend to be younger. He does go on to say that he supports the Universal income, but that part was be left out. Still a silly thing to say because there is not political possibility for universal income, so it is extended benefits or nothing.
I'm now envisioning the figure in your avatar just straight Ike-slapping a fool --repeatedly-- with the Battlestar Galactica theme playing in the background. See, these are the mofos nobody can reason with. “The associate was suspended for five days for not following company guidelines on responding to customers not wearing a face covering and not following de-escalation procedures, which could have prevented the incident,” a company spokesman said. I'm trying to figure out how someone is supposed to de-escalate a situation where a man is literally ramming them with a shopping cart.
The original 70's version or the new one? They both would work, I think. You have no idea how afraid they are of lawsuits. Someone in my store was stealing well over $1000 worth of liquor and the person in charge of the alcohol section chased after him and she was fired for it. By the book, employees are supposed to retreat in any and all situations.
Better. If only because he plays for the correct North London team. In truth, it is a toss up. I thought there would be about 60,000 or 70,000 deaths, maybe a 100,000 deaths tops. What happened?
Indeed! This demonstrates the whole problem with the debate about so-called 'cancel culture'. Arguments that are clearly fallacious and statements consisting of simple bald-faced lies are lumped together with someone just offering a different opinion or analysis. Those are not the same thing. At the end of the day, in political and moral discourse, there is no real substitute for actually thinking about what's being discussed. There should be no question of showing Plandemic, NOT because we're 'cancelling' their opinions but there is simply NO evidence that their allegations, (because that's pretty much all they are), are correct. Talking about that in the same context as someone's opinion about the significance of J.K Rowling as part of the TERF movement is disingenuous, at best. As this piece argues as the article at the head of this forum section... https://theconversation.com/no-youre-not-entitled-to-your-opinion-9978 The only opinion that cannot be argued with is that Voyager is the best Star Trek coz, y'know... that's just science
Well, I suspect the specific breakdown depends on which part of the debate you're concentrating on. A lot of it most definitely is but there are several genuine issues that need to be considered and there are severe dangers in just lumping things together. I can see the attraction for those of us who are, (shall we say), 'unfamiliar with the distractions of intellectual rigour' but, hopefully, that's not too many of us on here
I don't know who it is. The one you have now. I actually googled, "tiny pink hair anime girl cape" so I could appear knowledgeable, but came up with nothing that looked the same. I get that- wasn't really thinking about suits. I have to admit that I question the wisdom of chasing a thief or robber when you're a wage employee. I worked at a movie theater back in college for a while, and there was one incident involving a co-manager who was required by corporate to deposit the nightly gate into the ATM at, like, 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, after closing and clean-up. He got robbed and pistol-whipped one time (required a day in the hospital) and the regional manager called from Birmingham and said he was on his way to the hospital to "rip (the manager) a new one" for losing the money. So we called the co-manager at the hospital. The story I heard later was that the manager's family had then called the regional office and told the RM that if showed up at the hospital at all, they would beat his ass on the spot. RM had changed his tone by the time he got to town. He came into the theater, got some kind of inquiry forms and left. The rule from then on was to deposit the cash during daylight hours.
that seems like a reasonable assumption, but no, I don't think we know that. the concern is that the virus could have been dormant for 100 days, then resurfaced. there is no mention of him coming near anyone who had recently travelled, and Vietnam currently has the following travel restrictions: To staunch the spread of COVID-19, Vietnam is not allowing entry or issuing visas to foreign nationals, from March 22 until further notice, except for those travelling for official or diplomatic purposes, who must undergo medical checks and 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Vietnam.
Yes - but there has been a huge repatriation as well I am quite familiar with the situation as friends live there. VN has been very very strict, but the idea of the virus reactivating seems low compared to the idea of some asymptomatic transmission Vietnam raises some speculation as to whether some Asian physiology is not so susceptible to the disease
I've no idea what "huge repatriation" you're referring to ...but in any case the 14 day quarantine applies to all travelers from outside the country. me too. as far as a possible spontaneous revival of the virus ... it seems like every day we get new data about the behaviour of the thing (eg effects on kids, younger people) mostly from Asia, so I wouldn't rule anything out right now tbh.
