If he leaves Leganes before the end of the season without saving them I just can't see him getting any more opportunities in a top European league for the time being. Unless he drops down a division and wins promotion at Leganes or another club, Along with a legal dark cloud hanging over his name, Leganes seemed the end of the road for his European run.

I remember when he used to be able to get his players to play at a higher level not seen before or after their time with Aguirre from Pachuca to the Mexican national team to Osasuna, but after his spell at Atletico it seems like it's just been a slow decline every year since.

He's actually still got it. Before he took over Leganés, the team had 9 losses in 12 games. In the next 15 games after he took charge, Leganés won 4, tied 6 and lost 5.

Soon after, the team loses En Nesyri to Sevilla and Braithwite to Barcelona, which made up 70% of the team's scoring. Yet Leganés still manages to keep games close, despite the fact that most of the team's players already have one foot out the door (14 players' contracts end after this season).

    He's very underappreciated.

He earned another chance in La Liga. He did a great job all things considered.

They tied it twice, were not down 2-0 at any point in game.
They played hard, possibly couldn't have gotten penalty towards end but ref did not call after review

It may come down to Leganes not being able to afford Aguirre as well as other players having to leave to adjust to a second division budget.
