Thought I'd start this new thread. Normally I'd have opened it already but this whole year has been... confusing. Not even sure when exactly the transfer window takes place this year. Thanks COVID.

I'll start with the most recent rumours. We've been linked to GK Antonio Adan, who is currently backup to Oblak at Atletico.

We've also been linked to Betis CB Zouhair Feddal, as a replacement for Mathieu. The 31 year old defender could come for around 3M euros.

Feddal looks ever more likely to join us from Betis for 3 million. The defender was apparently also linked to Valencia, Tottenham and Liverpool.

We've been looking at Argentine midfielder Lucas Robertone again. I don't know much about him, but he's young. 23 years old.

This year has seen a record number of losses in all competitions. 16 losses (9 in league, 7 in the other competitions). In the infamous 2012/13 season we lost 15 games. Still have to go to Benfica in the last match.

Lets see what happens this off season. Robertone seemed good a year ago, if we spend 10 million on a coach we should spend 10 million at least on a quality striker to pair with Vietto up front.

Sporting should abandon the senior team and focus on developing youth it’s what they do best. Youth football and other sports like track and field , etc.

if Sporting just focused on developing talents and selling them to teams like Real Madrid etc, why spend the money on a senior team and always finishing in third or fourth place ?

I don’t mean to offend any die hard sportinguistas but football these days is a business. It would be a better business model for Sporting to cut costs and focus solely on youth development and making money off sales. They always produce the best players for the seleccao.

It would make even more sense if the Super League ends up being formed, benfica or Porto would probably be admitted and sporting could be used to develop players for those two teams and the national team.

I’ve been back to Portugal many times and there are Less and less sporting fans every day especially with younger children. Even in the Lisbon area it’s harder to find children supporting them.

Vietto shouldn’t be paired with anyone upfront. I’d get rid personally as we could get a fee for him

Thanks Joe for your wisdom. We should definitely abandon the senior team so that these kids can jump from the U23 straight to Real Madrid'a starting XI.

Vietto is actually one of the few foreign signings you have that are fairly decent.
seems to be injury prone, though.

Sporting signed Antonio Adan (GK) a 33 year old GK from Atletico de Madrid.
what a disgrace! I guess they are turning away from Max and the youth movement.

I wouldn't say a disgrace, Max has potential but sometimes error prone. Still young and growing.

Robertone was linked last year as well, correct?

What about our loan players, Palhinha coming back or was he sold? Gelson Dala?

Yes Robertone was linked as a replacement for Bruno Fernandes since last summer.

No word on Palhinha, in our midfield he'd be an upgrade probably, he developed well. But I did read rumours that there were clubs interested in buying him.

Well this didn't take long at all.. Arsenal are interested in Joelson and are willing to pay his buyout of 45 million.

And even then I’d still say no. ******** that. This dude needs to be starter NOW.

Only problem I have is that we’ve been trying to renew him and it’s been an issue, apparently has to do with the buyout clause for the renewal at €80 million

Apparently from A Bola, Arsenal are in a rush to get him due to their past f#ck ups acquiring young talent. Take it with a grain a salt i guess.

Like scp16 said, i would never do it for 45 mil either. No way

I donno, 45 mil for a 17 year old seems like a no brainer to me. Who knows how he'll develop. Bruno Fernandes was barely sold for more than that.

Joelson is a gem you cannot let him go for only 45 million €! I am shocked that he has such a low buy out clause. Wasn’t BDC giving all the youth players high buy outs when he was president ?

Lol your precious BdC was letting the youth players leave for free and was pulling money out of the academy.

That's true. Just don't trust this administration when it comes to how the money is spent

If they paid the clause then not like we could say no. The player would then decide.

Like SCP21 said its 45m for a 17 year old. Yes he's a gem but I find it hard to believe.
