Forestieri, Fletcher, and Fox have all refused to re-sign, with Hutch and Winnall not offered extensions, so those five will be out of contract on the 30th and will not be around to see out the season. Keiran Lee and Atdhe Nuhiu have both signed short-term deals to see out this bizarre campaign.

Hints at Forestieri heading up to Leeds, which would make him rather unpopular at Hillsborough one can conclude. You can just see him getting healthy and his old form back with them, can't you? That'd be tough to swallow.

With that many regulars on their way out, it looks like Wednesday will be more-or-less rebuilding from scratch, whether that's their intent or not. I'm not disappointed, myself, as I thinks it's been a shit, gutless squad for a while. I wish I could say I was confident that they'll do better going forward. At least we won't be watching the same boring shit next time 'round.

I would have posted the score if you didn't post it first, so I'll say that you passed QPR and moved up to 13th. In terms of finishing in the top half, you trailed 12th place Bristol City by 3 points, and your goal differential is 3 better.

On Wednesday you host second place West Brom, who is 3 points behind Leeds for first and 5 points above third place Brentford.

League One and League Two voted to shorten the season, rank clubs by points per game, and go straight to promotion playoffs. League One has Semifinals first legs on Friday July 3, second legs on Monday July 6, and the Final on Monday July 13. Third place Wycombe Wanderers host the second leg against sixth place Fleetwood Town, and fourth place Oxford United host the second leg against a club who ten seasons ago had 19 points (0.5 per game) in the Premier League, Portsmouth. Portsmouth was relegated three times in four seasons. After four seasons in League Two, they got promoted, and are hoping to get up to League Championship. League Two had the promotion Semifinals. The top three get promoted automatically, and fourth through seventh are in the playoffs. Fifth place Exeter City lost 1-0 at Colchester United. Then Exeter City led 2-1 at home after regulation, and apparently away goals aren't used, because away goals would have advanced Colchester. Exeter scored in the 111th minute to win the aggregate 3-2. The other pair combined for 5 goals, which were all scored away! Fourth place Cheltenham Town looked to be in great shape after a 2-0 win at seventh place Northampton Town, but Northampton won 3-0 at Cheltenham to win the aggregate 3-2. Exeter and Northampton play in the Final tomorrow at 2:30 P.M. Eastern (1:30 P.M. for IvanIV). Anyone who pays for ESPN Plus can watch it online.

According to initial responses that I saw, the scoreline flattered West Brom and Wednesday weren't too bad. I'd popped on expecting all kinds of wailing and gnashing of teeth, but folks seemed pretty calm. Tough to paint a pretty face on 0-3 though.

    Just did.

English football's doing everything in it's power to destroy my interest in and affection for the game. With considerable success.

i almost posted that i thought they might win this today. they've not (supposedly) been as bad as the recent scorelines have suggested, and qpr are a bit shite. so i could definitely see 'em getting something from it.

then again, 'almost' isn't the same as doing it, and i suppose there's a reason i didn't. in any event, good for Wednesday. that said, this stuff about waiting to see if there's a points deduction - and how much of one - is a massive load of shite.

A scoreless draw hosting 20th place Huddersfield isn't good. Only 5 clubs including you have clinched staying. 11 clubs could be promoted, and 8 could be relegated.

And there may still be a points deduction for us... we are in dire need of points.

Fulham win 4-2. Haven't read a word of commentary, but having been down 3-0 at the half, it can't have been anything but bad.

It was actually 5-3. Alexander Mitrovic's 41st minute peanlty made it 3-0. Nihiu, who was one of three players you subbed on at halftime, scored a penalty in the 49th minute, and Fulham went up 4-1 in the 73rd. Murphy scored in the 78th, and Nihiu scored in the 89th to go down 4-3. Bobby Reid sealed it with a goal in the 90+1st, while Fulham's Harrison Reed got cards in the 90+1st and 90+4th that were too late to help you. I wonder how rare it is for a player to get two yellows in second half stoppage time. Flash Scored says Fulham had 59 percent of the possession and 60 percent of the total passes. You had a big advantage in dangerous attacks to 55 to 30, which was 65 percent for you, and you had more shots, 14 to 12. Fulham had more shots on goal, 8 to 6, and each club had 3 saves.

You're 8 points and goal differential above the relegation zone. If you get a 10 point penalty, your last game hosting 19th place Middlesbrough is important. Looking at the remaining schedule for the bottom three, none of them have a good chance at winning. Last place Barnsley has two games left including one tomorrow. IMO points penalties shouldn't be announced after the season. MLB wouldn't have a season end on Sunday with a team winning a division at 95-67 and the next day announce that they're record was dropped 5 games to 90-72, they get a wild card, and another team won their division.

Are you rooting for Sheffield United to miss the Europa League? If so, you should root for Arsenal to win the FA Cup including beating Man City in a Semifinal today at 7:45 P.M. local/2:45 P.M. Eastern/1:45 P.M. Central. Arsenal is 1 point behind Sheffield U. If Arsenal finishes above Sheffield U, the FA Cup won't matter to Sheffield U because Chelsea and both Manchester clubs are above them. If Arsenal wins the FA Cup and finishes eighth or worse, seventh doesn't go to the Europa League. Wolves (6th with 56), Tottenham (7th with 55), Sheffield U (8th with 54), Arsenal (9th with 53), and Burnley (10th with 51 and leading now but they're playing their second-to-last game before everyone else so the others will have a game in hand on Burnley after today. Other than Liverpool, Man City, and Norwich, all the Premier League clubs are within 3 points of at least one other club. Sheffield U, Arsenal, and Watford are within 3 points of four other clubs. The 30 point gap from first to third and 10 point gap with 19th to 20th add up to 40, which is more than the 32 point gap from 3rd to 19th. To compare, last season the gap between 3rd and 19th was 46.
