As of July 13, forecasts suggest 24 states and territories are likely to report more #COVID19 deaths in the next 4 weeks than in the previous 4 weeks. Nationally, between 150,000 and 170,000 total deaths are expected by August 8. The US Army Engineer Research and Development Center numbers were bypassed by reality a month ago. And what's with those massive error bars by MIT and others? If I give my number a 95% confidence area that stretches from here to the moon I can pull a number out of my ass and be right too. I'm 95% sure the weight of a 747 is between 1000 and 1,000,000,000 kilos but that hardly means you should trust my knowledge of passenger aircraft. Hey, everyone, noisy data that we smoothed down to gentle curve is going to keep being a gentle curve for a short time in the future, with error bars of everyone dying to 20,000 people coming back to life. Give me some grant money. What the heck are these people doing with their massive computers, playing Fallout 4? Well, if they are let me tell them that they should really install the Clean Warehouses and Barns mod because it's a lot more satisfying to build housing for your settlers that doesn't have holes in the wall or broken windows. I mean, if you are building something from scratch, why build it with broken windows? Come on, Bethesda that just doesn't make sense.
Actually, I think they are playing Cities Skyline and are having difficulty with the traffic mod because it keeps increasing traffic no matter what they do.
So the burbs have to close down while ATL can stay open and help save GA. That seems like a boom for business.
Most stores have greeters already. It costs $10 an hour to add a member of staff. A store that enforces the mask policy is probably going to attract better educated, wealthier people than one that doesn't. And to be honest the people who get booted for not wearing masks are the type of people you want in your store anyway.
I feel sure that somewhere in the south they have covid shooting contests. No mask wearing or keeping social distancing.
Sure of that last sentence? Our Safeway store has a one way in with a person making sure of masks. More and more people are shopping there. Most of these people will continued customers. While nobody gives a crap about the ones turned away.
I stopped buying beer at a neighborhhod convenience mart because they got slack on masks. Like, employees not wearing them at all. I realize that puts them at risk, but it led me to wonder what else they were allowing to slide.
I remember my dad telling me about the first time he went t the states in about '68, (Michigan, just north of Detroit), and they told jokes about the Poles? We were all pretty amazed because we thought, the POLES? Why the Poles. The consensus, (from the yanks he'd spoken to there at the time), was that there were quite a few Germans in the area and they'd brought the prejudices from 'the old country'. No idea if that's true or not. We told the same jokes about the Irish and the Irish guy I worked with a couple of years later said they told them about the Kerrymen. I've no idea who the Kerrymen tell them about. The Germans, maybe?
You got me. I was in junior high in Sacramento, which didn't have ethnic whites. I mean, it did, but it wasn't like in the East Coast or Midwest, where there were neighborhoods and ethnic affiliations. White was white. We had white kids, blacks, and Mexicans, those were the ethnic groups. But still Polish jokes.
It's funny. Back before the midterms, we had to do everything we could to stop that migrant caravan that was heading for us like the asteroid from Armageddon. And one of the reasons was because President Clownshoes said foreigners bring disease. Build that wall!! Apparently, we don't have to give a shit once disease is actually here. (Also funny that I never heard a word about that caravan once election day was over.) So, as inspired by a joke Iliza Shlesinger did in her monologue filling in for Kimmel, I propose we start referring to masks as "mouth walls." It's the duty of every American citizen to protect your country by erecting a mouth wall to prevent foreign invaders from attacking us.
It took me a lot of time to find it but there is a section of my state's Covid-19 site that allows you to report businesses for non-compliance with state regulations. I reported the same business twice for not wearing masks while preparing and serving food. I've no idea if it's gone any further.
Wonder where the person who gave Trump syphilis is from. (I don't know if Trump has syphilis. THIS IS A JOKE. Please can I still be a "real" democrat?!?!)
I'm very proud of my Polish heritage, and I take great umbrage being insulted for walking around during summer with a car door so if it gets hot I can roll down the window.
So much winning! Aren't we tired of winning? U.S. Shatters Single-Day Record for Infections “As clashes over face-covering mandates and school reopening plans intensified throughout the United States, the country shattered its single-day record for new cases on Thursday — more than 74,000 with some numbers still to be announced,” the New York Times reports.
My local Ace is absolutely top-notch for pandemic protocols. They are incredibly strict about masks and such. My local O'Reilly's Auto Parts, on the other hand ...
It's surprising how nonchalant people are about NOT wearing a mask. I figure they're either stupid, obstinate, thoughtless, or fatalistic.
I don't believe it. I wish those groups took it seriously, but I don't believe they do. They think they do; but they don't realize how bad the situation is and therefore what taking it seriously would really mean. Put another way, as soon as Americans -- even the groups you suggest -- are told they have to give up air conditioning for the rest of their lives, their enthusiasm for attacking the problem will plummet.
Are the burbs shutting down? It’s also not like Atlanta is the only place in GA impacted by Kemp’s order, or the onlynplace that would shutdown if things get worse in GA...
