yeah it is one of my favorites. I thought about trying to put together a year by year gallery of all the Battery kits

I can do from 1998 without much trouble but the 1993-1997 season might be tough to find photos of

I'm wondering how long Umbro will be able to continue making kits for the Battery. I like their kits, but I just heard that they have lost both England and Manchester City's kit rights. It isn't known how long can stay competitive. I believe that Umbro is also a sponsor of the Battery and USL as well.

I'm wondering what the older trophy's that the Battery won looked like Mikey. I understand that they have won a USPL title and a A-League championship in addition to the 2 USL titles they have recently won.

the USSL award was flat, so it has to hang or lean. The a-League trophy was pretty cheap, smaller than the USL ones and two toned.

I've been looking for a video of the full Open Cup final in 2008, but i've only found a highlight reel for the match and didn't include the equalizer from Marco Reda that was disallowed.

whitecap10 hasn't been online since the night before the Sandy hit the NYC area. I'm not exactly sure but I believe he said he was in the long island area.

    I hope he is okay

Thank you for checking on me. I am fine, but the power outages around the area have been very bad.

Does anyone know/remember what some of the highest scoring regular season USL games involving the Battery were from 2001-2010, or the early 2010s?

Mike Anhaeuser is a real one-club men, he played 115 games, scored 2 goals and recalled 17 recorded by Charleston Battery. Anhaeuser has been the team's coach since 2005.

This is very cool, a very beautiful story. I would like to see a documentary about Mike Anhaeuser's history with Charleston Battery.

I know all about the club's history in the USL playoffs and US Open Cup in the 2000-2010 decade, from reading this thread along with Wikipedia articles. Where my research is lacking is in terms of regular season results from the early-mid 2000s. I did attend one game at Blackbaud that decade, in 2007 and still have a few Post and Courier articles that my relatives who live in the area sent me from back then but does anyone know of anywhere online where one can find information about regular season USL games from that time period? The Wikipedia articles with full season results only go back to around 2011-2012.

Not sure about where the data might be, but the older stuff might not be associated with "USL" since that's a relatively new name, maybe that stuff is found under A-League somewhere.

On this day in 1999, Charleston Battery defeats the Atlanta Silverbacks 3-0 on goals by Rashad Miller, Mike Burke, Derick Brownell in the opening game played at Blackbaud Stadium, the first privately owned soccer specific stadium built in the United States.

That is one regular season game from back in that time period I actually do already know about- because it was mentioned in a Post and Courier article last year looking back on the top ten greatest moments in the stadium's history, which was published shortly after the last game at Blackbaud against Bethlehem was played. I flew down to SC that week to be there for that final game, so collected all of the P&C articles from that week and it was mentioned in that one.

On the Battery's social media accounts, they have been doing other OTD flashbacks in recent weeks but most were from recent years, like Romario Willams' hat trick in 2017 and Taylor Mueller's winning goal against Wilmington in 2016. I really miss that rivalry with Wilmington.

Wayback machine will give you some access to the old webpage. it is slow and I would recommend using a laptop or desktop for it. its a cool website that took snap shots of webpages throughout the years. it isn't complete but may help some.

this website is also good for general soccer history and gives some details on each season.
    https://web.archive.org/web/20150613163728/http://homepages.sover.net/~spectrum/index.html

I'd love to put together a complete history of the Charleston Battery one day. complete with interviews and videos but its a big task.

Thanks. That definitely is helpful. Do you happen to remember if the 4-1 win over Virginia Beach Mariners in the 2003 playoffs was at Blackbaud, or on the road? The archive seems to suggest it was the second leg which I'm guessing Charleston would have hosted since they had more regular season points, but doesn't say for sure.

When they won the championship in 03 I guess it was "Thunder Island" instead of Daniel Island that day since they defeated a team called the Thunder.

The best win over Wilmington (other than the 2012 championship game of course) was when Charleston put four past them in the first half of a 2013 regular season game at Blackbaud. The game ended 4-2. The 2016 MLS rivalry game between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders was almost a carbon copy of that game; Portland put four past their rivals in an incredible first half and then Seattle got two back right at the beginning of the second half, and there was no scoring the rest of the way.

I was able to find a website that still has full game recaps going all the way back to 2000, without using the Wayback machine. Our Sports Central is the place to go!

"It was twenty years ago today...."

They also beat Pittsburgh 4-0 near the end of the 2014 regular season to clinch a playoff spot. Dane Kelly, one of my all time favorite Battery players, had a hat trick that night. And the "Odisnel Cooper river bridge" held the fort as Cooper twice saved a PK that would have tied the game right before halftime.

PXL_20201017_193934525.jpg Battery fans, I was cleaning out my basement and came upon 4 programs and tickets from the 1999 US Open Cup game when the Battery beat DC United. I'm a DCU ticket holder who was down in Charleston for work and went to the game. If anybody wants them, let me know. Otherwise they are getting recycled.
