They're talking about the Bournemouth-Newcastle match. The graphic behind the announcers has one score. The one at the bottom of the screen (above the crawl) is different. They showed both at the same time. A few minutes later, they have the crawl at the very bottom with the correct score.

    Show Spoiler

Bournemouth 1-4 Newcastle was behind the announcers. Bournemouth 0-4 Newcastle was at the bottom of the screen. In reality, Bournemouth did score.

Strange video production was happening during the ARS-NOR match as well. I guess the league's production team was short-staffed today. Don't think we can blame it on NBC this time.

Looking at the NBCSN schedule for this weekend I notice:

    1) There is no listing of the PL Review Show which they aired last week. :(

    2) NBCSports.com shows a strange listing on NBCSN for Sat 6am-7am called "PL Soccer (a game from the PL)", while my DVR for the same 1hr slot lists "PL Mornings". Maybe this 6am show will prove to actually be the PL Review Show after all? Just mis-labelled? We shall see.

I would just like to personally thank NBC for choosing to show a meaningless match between Man City (nearly assured second place yet currently banned from CL next season) and Newcastle (clinched PL safety already) on TV so that I can watch Wolves and Sheffield United continue to compete for Europe live on Gold.

You really had my back this time, National Broadcasting Company.

FWIW, I see that the NBCSN app is approximately 39 seconds behind NBCSN on my TV.

Man City gets the ratings though. It is what it is. It would have been interesting to see what Fox would have picked. I'm sure we could debate that all day.

Sounds about right. Although I've seen it more like 55' in the past. (not comparing it now)

Don't think we need to guess what Fox would have picked based on how they picked their televised matches for the last bundesliga round.

Oh, I know. Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are the go-to teams for TV broadcasts.

Still, it just makes me shake my head a little when it’s a situation like this. I mean, the Man City-Newcastle match could hardly mean less and even if I was a fan of MC I’d be hard pressed to care much about it. And when you consider the growing popularity (not to mention competitiveness) of Wolves, you’d think it’d behoove NBC to give it a little bit of a push. Ultimately, this fits my long-held belief that sports broadcasters don’t give viewers/fans enough credit.

I actually am glad the match is on Gold in this case for selfish/live access reasons, though. My previous post wasn’t sarcasm.

Bein would’ve aired last Monday’s Crystal Palace-Burnley match and then put City-Newcastle on tonight at 6:30.

When Setanta had first pick, they'd pick one of the big teams almost every week. It seemed like FSC would usually end up with Villa, Newcastle or Fulham almost every week. Once the season got into April, it seemed like Setanta would start choosing relegation battles.

I know we won't go back there (thanks a LOT, overbidding!) but I miss the year or two all those overflow games were on TV. There really is little fear to overbid for rights because those who do the bidding know the die-hards are suckered in to the premium paywalls.

So every game on Wednesday 15th is on Peacock only.

The thing is....like 10% of viewers care about euro spots or relegation battles unless it's the last week or two. Majority of viewers want notable clubs, and MC and Newcastle are bigger than the other two, by far.

WTF? Let's hope they change this decision... it's completely inconsistent with how they've been covering "Project Restart"

    Here's what they say they're showing instead o_O ...

Jul 15th is the official launch date of Peacock, so I guess they want to make a splash

OK, but still STUPID to take all their programming off of NBCSN that day. IMHO.

Sure, but they’d like to continue growing their audience. One way to make an attempt is to broadcast a match that matters featuring up-and-coming teams/players with less name recognition that will be in the PL again next season (i.e., help fans familiarize themselves with more than like three clubs). Or they could just show Man City and hope their existing popularity snowballs.

As it is, how many U.S. viewers are tuning in for a Wednesday kickoff at 10 a.m./1 p.m. whether it’s Man City-Newcastle or Sheffield United-Wolves? Either way it’s gonna be established fans of the sport, but it’d be nice if broadcasters occasionally recognized that there are fans who want to watch the meaningful match over the one featuring a team whose name some rando might recognize. NBC could emphasize the importance the latter match quite easily; I have no idea what they said before the Man City match (“You’ll probably recognize more of the names in this glorified exhibition match... What a treat!”).

Sure enough one match (though far from beautiful) went to the final whistle with an injury time decider while the other was done and dusted within 20 minutes, and we easily could’ve guessed beforehand the corresponding matches would play that way. At a point it just comes across as disrespectful to fans who didn’t just learn the game from EA Sports.

It just seems like always showing Man City or Man U or Liverpool - circumstances be damned - could lead to diminishing returns. I also assume they don’t get a ton of those fans subscribing to Gold with only 4-5 matches a season behind that paywall.

I don't disagree with you but, for the most part, fans of the big 4 always have the same complaints. The people who really want to see a hot Reds v Marlins playoff battle are going to see the Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers/Cubs etc.

EA Sports got me hooked and taught me about European futbol in 1998.
No need to trash people who got the love of the game due to a video game series. :p

The stupid thing about this Peacock move on Wednesday is that the app isn't even available on Roku or Fire Stick.

BTW, what the heck is going on with these boxes and the apps? HBO Max isn't available on either. It's not like Amazon Fire or Roku can or should play hardball; they don't need bandwidith or satellites; they are just boxes so it costs them nothing to add apps as long as the developers code the apps properly. It behooves each company that makes a streaming box of some kind to have as many apps as possible. Really bizarre. Now I have to either kick my wife out of the room that has the Nvidia Shield or I need to use other methods to see the game I want to see. But, again, it's really stupid that these new apps don't work on most boxes.

It is actually pretty brilliant because Comcast has their own streaming device they are trying to have people use.

I don't like it but I think they are on to something.
