If you had to put together a starting XI for Qatar 2022, who would be in it?

For me personally even though I don't follow Mexican club football, I would say he is worth taking a look at. However by 2022 assuming he makes the team, he would be 33 years old since he is born 1989.

It's probably gonna be an "old" Mexican side -- late 20's/early 30's yo players with only an handful of young players.

All decent choices and some really good ones (i.e. attacking trident and Herrera). Only one I would leave off due to the following is Erick Gutierrez. 1) never really been high on 2) Got cramps playing in the Gold Cup (I believe) due to inactivity and can only imagine on the big World Cup stage 3) Carlos Rodriguez from Monterrey is currently in much better form and can play really well.

I would add Gallardo as a lateral left/right

Jona Dos Santos is a maybe.

Side note: I have seen videos of Mexican "llaneros" that no joke, appear to be much better than some of the starting line ups on LigaMX first teams.

I went with those players I guess to keep things fresh but to also give this Mexican team a sort of sense of youth whilst still having that experience

    A 4 2 3 1

    Guillermo Ochoa

    ? Jorge Sanchez or Mozo
    Nestor Araujo
    ? Cesar Montes, Moreno
    ?Arteaga, Calderon, or Gallardo

    Hector Herrera
    Carlos Rodriguez

    Jesus Manuel Corona
    Carlos Vela (i know i know:unsure:)
    Diego Lainez

    Raul Jimenez

This would be by far the most talented mexican team I've seen by far.. I'm still hoping Vela decides to come back and gives one final run with the team yeah he would be nearly 34 but I don't see it as too old

Lainez has been looking good in the few minutes he has gotten. Don't get the idiots saying he sucks or say that he is a bust just because he hasn't been a starter. His futbol IQ is shitty though so he has to get better at that but he's just turned 20.. people forget vela became a starter at 22 in real sociedad and tecatito was at freaking monterrey's bench at his age and took a year at twnente reserves before he started doing things

    Some bench players
    Edson Alvarez
    Hirving Lozano
    Rodolfo Pizzarro
    Jose Juan Macias
    Sebastian Cordova

Replace Lainez with Lozano and i am onboard (same attacking squad i have earlier on this thread. . Defense is difficult to measure at times. For sure Araujo and Gallardo. Moreno is on his way out and dont think he makes it. I really with Guardado had one more WC in him.

I would have Lozano over Lainez in the starting 11 but other than that the team would look talented

Based on last year with Queretaro and this year with Cruz Azul, I think Romo has that backup DM spot locked up behind Alvarez as he's been the best DM this year in the league. Herrera needs to stay in that CM spot.

Also, Sepulveda is doing quite well and he would be a good CB to have as he clearly has the speed/quickness that most of our CB's lack. He'd be a great complement player next to either Araujo or Montes. Still need to see him with senior team though.

And Romo can also play well as a CB, so more options to go. It will also be interesting to see if Gómez and Pizzuto can start getting minutes on their teams. If they do, they're in the conversation.

I'm just happy it looks like will have quality, speedy Full Backs for counter recovery.

Really high on that Arteaga guy and Sanchez.
