    @dark knight

You have got to be f***in me!?!?! For privacy, I use a VPN. Because of that BigSoccer has deemed it necessary to ask me if I am human every so often. Well, this pisses me off as I am logged in, ALWAYS, yet I get asked. Why? This is the only website I use which does this. And it pisses me off as I was just in the middle of a long post which got deleted because of this ********ing verification.

    Fix that!

Ugh - so sorry about that. I didn't know that was a thing - I'll take a look but not sure it's something I can control.

So even if you're logged in you have to confirm you are human? And it doesn't save your draft?

Correct. It refreshes that page as if I am new on the page. I even have Privacy Badger turned off, which causes issues with other websites I use as well as Big Soccer.

@SN - It does not seem to be a setting I have control over - at least nothing obvious. It's definitely not a cache issue? Like try a different browser perhaps?

And I assume you've logged out and made sure you have stay logged in checked?

Meanwhile, I get long posts posted *and* saved because the reply button seems to not fully load the post. I have to press the browser's stop button and refresh it in order to see the post. But at least I get the draft saved, forcing me to delete it.

Nice to see you're still hanging around @dark knight ... and actively responding/contributing! Thank you.

Over the last 3-6 mos I've started to wonder (and yes sometimes worry) about the future/viability of BS going forward.

So many of us are so attached to it. And some of us don't like to use so-called "alternatives" like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc. (Personally I shun those platforms)

So please tell me that you guys are still out there "keeping the lights on" at the old motel ad used to say.

    By fixing the problem.

    Oh, please.

I have multiple websites in which I have no problems when my VPN is in use, which range from very large financial institutions to what I am guessing are small, or maybe moderate, operations. But this issue has only surfaced since I started using my VPN. And it is not consistent, either. I will go a week or two without an issue, and then I will have it show up on multiple days in a row, and then go away. And, yes, I have logged out and logged back in during this time.

This question came up semi-recently and as far as I know there is no plan to shutdown soon.

I was making a bot joke.

Just trying to think of ideas and understand the problem - many problems often seem to be quirks of browsers. If you refresh your browser would it think you are logged in, but then when you hit reply it requires log-in verification and deletes your post? It's confusing because it seems like it should be saving a draft if you start from logged-in.

In an abundance of caution, I'd get in the habit of a) checking to make sure you are signed in before posting and b) hitting ctrl a, ctrl c before hitting post reply. Not a great solution, but unless until we can figure out the why - it may be the best choice.

There have definitely been a lot of changes to the site over the years. There was web-based email at one time, as there was a live chat room, blogs (I think some are still active), BSSC premium service, a web store, an arcade, CafePress, etc.

There could definitely be major improvements made, but I'm glad it'll still be around.

Good. I guess. The way you said "as far as I know" and "soon" that doesn't exactly inspire supreme confidence.

If Janet or Andy or whomever is closer to the pulse of BS's future is listening... please keep the lights on folks! Please.

Sorry for not responding for a while. Haven't had the issue crop up lately, but...

Since this series of posts, I have been fine, not doing anything different. But the issue was that my posts were saved as drafts, and was I never logged out. But on the few times when I tried to post or re-save as a draft and it acted like this, I had not need to logged in because I already was logged in and my draft was deleted.

I never log out. Ever. Ever.

The problem is that this happens (happened?) in the middle of a draft. What you are suggesting is that after I type each word, out of abundance of caution, I save copy everything I wrote.

So it kills your draft mid composition? Why would the site auto-refresh? That's even more confusing as I don't think I've ever seen that.

Oh, I have previously. Not for a while, but this has happened. It is one of the reasons that when I reply to multiple posts I do so in different tabs and then combined. Unfortunately, in this case it was not just erasing the draft, but it was also asking me to verify if I was human (you know, traffic lie, bicycle, airplane, etc). Oh, I just checked and turn off Privacy Badger. I'm gonna turn it on and see what happens.
