Not sure he'd be an upgrade on Azpi, although the Spaniard is getting long in the tooth.

That is the kind of move that makes sense for Chelsea... not Sancho.

A lot of media talk about Timo Werner joining Chelsea ATM:

A first choice front three of Werner-Abraham-Ziyech next season?

With Timo in, I guess it's a 4-3-3 from here on out. My guess is Lumpy will optimize the squad so that Mount can ruin it in the most efficient way possible. Going to be interesting.

if you add werner here then frank being the manager of a young team excuses goes out the window pretty quick. no way they make a move like that in times like these without expecting it to pay immediate dividends. honestly this puts more pressure on frank than pulisic

It really just allows them to not have a teenager as first choice striker... timo is 24 years old.

This would be a good move for a club, any club, that’s building... but even if this does happen, Chelsea still aren’t in the top 4 squad in the prem talent-wise. So any expectations not based on that aren’t really dealing with reality.

And Liverpool should try to hijack it however possible. But if he wants consistent starter minutes, he’s not going to Liverpool no matter what...

Yeah it allows better CF rotation. Think they felt pretty lacking there behind Tammy A.

Still need to address some other problem areas pretty quickly across backline. They have a sufficient attacking group to get into top 4-6.

This really only impacts Tammy in all likelihood unless they change formations. Werner won't play as a winger.

Even with Werner I don't think they have a top 5 (or even top 6?) attack... you wouldn't take Chelsea attack + Werner over Spurs, United, Arse, LFC, City, or even Leicester, would you? I mean, maybe they edge Arsenal? What does the attacking depth chart look like at these clubs? Chelsea are 6th at best, for me. Maybe Werner will have a greater impact that I anticipate... assuming they sign him.

But if they buy Werner, surely he's the de facto starter... he allows them to choose between Giroud/Bats and still give Tammy plenty of minutes.
He'd be a great signing for anyone IMO, I'm just saying.

I disagree... but perhaps it is my homerism.

Rotations at Forward and Midfield would include: Werner, Tammy, CP, Odoi, RLC, Mount, Ziyech, Kante and Jorgi. Could be pretty sic if they stay healthy. There are also other guys that contribute in the midfield like Kova and young Gilmour.

Leicester - no way. Spurs- no, not with Kane very possibly leaving and always injured. Their attack is basically Son. Arsenal- Aubameyang is probably out and they are barely top half of the table without him (I thought chelsea might grab him at some point but seems unlikely now). On top of that, arsenal and spurs don't have the money to buy good players. United has potential especially if they nab Sancho. THe others may be better now. Chelsea is very young right now and is in a better position than most going forward.

This is an exciting signing for Chelsea.

Either this will help elevate CP's game and stats, or we'll have to get used to seeing CP on the bench a bit more. Up to him.

I am with you. Attack wise, I would consider City and Liverpool clearly ahead of Chelsea. ManU can potentially get ahead as well, but Arsenal, Spuds, and Leicester are in samelevel as Chelsea.

It's going to be more interesting than that I think. In the Koppy Kloppy world of football, you could see frank go to a 4-3-3

    -----Timo------Panty------CP---

    ----Mount----Kante----Kova---

I know Klopp supposedly plays that 4-2-3-1 but in my world it's a 4-3-3 because of the way his top 3 all play striker and his middle three pressure and defend a bit narrow to allow the overlap. Then in defense he goes to a 4-4-1-1 with someone responsible with running on the change over.

so it would look like this:

    -------------------Panty------------
    ---Timo----------Mount-------------CP----
    --------------Kante-------kova---------

For my money Mount is not good enough to play central attacking mid. He doesn't pass well enough. He looks for his shot first. In my book he's a better motor midfielder. In all honesty, Chelsea don't have that passer/creator but CP can go left / right and find a pass. I'd fly to the bridge tomorrow and watch every game life somehow if CP evers gets the ACM role.

I'm sorry, who is panty? You are forgetting about Ziyech who will either be an attacking mid or RW. He's much more likely to play AM than CP imo, and Frank hinted at him playing there. I think CP stays on the wing.

Panties Abraham. Plays soft to me. I hope he spent his virus vacation working on hold-up play and balance.

Ziyech will also be interesting. Chelsea needs middle of the pitch playmakers. Kante also seems eager to move on. They are overloaded on the wings. Does CP play right or left wing? Something about how Frank managed last year gave me the impression he is looking for reason to drop rather than play certain players and vice-versa.

A lot of questions to answer. Not to mention his CB's were still not keeping out goals at key moments.
