I’ll be excited when he gets on a match day squad for Norwich. Until then it’s hard to see the way forward.
Well he can't get a work permit so he won't be suiting up for Norwich next year regardless. Hope he gets a good landing spot in Europe...you'd think with all the financial issues post-COVID, there might be a thriving loan market this transfer window since most clubs can't afford to buy.
With EPL parachute payments to cushion the financial blow, and give them a massive leg-up on 3/4 of the division.
Will be interesting to see what happens to their young guys and Pukki but honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they went right back up. When they went to the EPL they didn’t go buy a new team. Kept the same. They crushed the championship. If they keep them together I wouldn’t be shocked to see them jump back up.
A lot of teams sell off a ton of parts to sustain the drop in revenue from the PL and then they find themselves middle of the pack (Hannoever 96 actually did this last year upon dropping). If you want to sustain the bigger league you must find a way to manage the books after a drop to go right back and remain a competitive team. I mean for gods sake Brighton and Burnley have done it... which is surprising if you think about it.
Teams usually do that that have been on EPL wages for a while or are like Villa who went out and bought a new team. Norwhich is mostly unchanged from the Championship to EPL and will likely remain the same when they drop down tho I know their younger guys have been linked to top teams. They wouldn’t need to shed wages the same way Villa will.
Not something I completely thought of but makes sense. But Pukki is on a lot of teams radar is he not?
They bought 13 new players ranging from 3 to 22 mill. All but 2 are over 7 mill. They also signed a FA. Wages will be an issue. They’ll likely loan out a couple and try and sell a couple but it will be tough. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/transfers/verein/405
He was linked to a few but he’s also 30 and his blistering pace to start the season slowed down. He likely wouldn’t be much more than a back up plan for most teams. Norwich won’t get the value they’d like for him so it would likely make more sense to hold him and try and jump right back up.
Is there any chance he's close to getting a Euro passport and then could actually play for Norwich? Or that he already has a deal to get loaned to PSV/Ajax. Otherwise, I'm left scratching my head on this move.
The kid needs playing time. Anywhere in the Dutch or Austria would be my first choice if I had it at that age. You score in the CL and teams take notice as its the biggest stage
On top of which he's never been that prolific, except at Norwich. He was a flop in Spain and in Germany and never broke double figures in Scotland playing for a without-real-competition Celtic side. He's under contract until 2022 and there's an option for another year on top of that, so Norwich will be in no hurry to sell unless the price is right for them and they have replacements lined up. He won't be cheap so buying him would be a big risk for a club, especially in this climate, and leaving would be a risk for him: the Norwich system suits him, they have an excellent chance of bouncing back, the club is very well-run and it's a beautiful part of the world.
Zero chance of a Euro passport, though his Chilean parentage means a Spanish WP would be a whole lot easier than a British one. In any case, Britain is leaving the the EU so I doubt getting an EU passport would help much after December, Norwich would only have signed him if they were confident of getting a loan berth for him come August, most likely in Holland, Belgium or BL2
Police ticketed 5 players of Hannover for violating Corona rules. One of them was Soto. Not really a big deal, but they have to train in isolation for now. Good news is, Soto is healthy and his contract ends this month. https://www.kicker.de/777345/artike...hannover_nimmt_fuenf_spieler_aus_dem_training
