Thank you, Duchene, Rattlehead, loco, SupaMario. Hope your families and you all are keeping safe and well.
Copa America 2021 is the task for Argentina in the sense of either title or bust so basically a must win because when was the last time Argentina won a Copa America title? I would say you guys are long overdue for a win
@afar I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. I hope your father rests in peace.
They're definitely not favourites as of now Brasil has a better team top to bottom. But they can win with the right attitude and system.
We are on the cusp of being a really great team, I feel, with promising young defenders and a good midfield as well. Just have to put it all together.
Hi guys I would like to ask your opinion about the midfielder player (Palacios), I’ve heard so many things about him in a couple of years ago that he’s well skilled player and there some negotiations by Rial Madrid to get him aboard. If I’m not mistaken, he was called by Scaloni earlier but then He got an injury & left the squad. With whom of our old x players you guys can compare him with? Is he in level of ( Gago & Banaga) or in level of ( Cambiasso - Lotcho)? In fact I missed watching him, as I’m not a good watcher of Argentina league despite it’s great league but the issue I encountering is the time difference.
Palacios is a fantastic player.. probably somewhat of a combination of all 4 players you mentioned, I guess you could say. Vision and pressing are key to his style of play, and he also has a pretty decent long range shot. The kid runs his ass off throughout the game but is also elegant with the ball. He has been considered highly by Scaloni from the very beginning of his cycle as NT coach, so unless something happens from now til CA you should expect to see Exequiel in the squad
I liked it him in the games I've seen so far. Not the passer of Gago/Banaga level. More of a pressing machine ala vidal. I think honestly he resembles Modric most but probably won't ever be on the same level. Watched him in Germany too but now rarely ever play woke up this morning to see a glimpse and wasn't even on the bench. Hopefully, he settles in soon but this doesn't bode well for him. Germany is not looking like a good destination for Argentinians right now, at first I welcomed the wave of Albiceleste players going there but no one has really progressed there. Even Ascacibar looked like a cant miss talent, who hasnt been playing bad but played on a shit team that got relegated, now with Hertha.
I'm not too sure about the defense being solid enough. The only lock in the defensive line is Tagliafico. The GK will probably be Armani (he certainly gained the confidence of being the Arg. NT's 1st choice GK). For the rest of the defense, I don't think none are guaranteed of being 1st choice. I would assume that Quarta will be one of the 1st choice CBs, but as usual with Argentinian coaches, they sometimes make illogical choices and Scaloni can choose either Rojo or Otamendi (or worse, both at the same time) Team chemistry and knowing the playstyle of your teammates, especially for defense, is so important. This is especially true when you consider the time you practice together with your teammates is very limited for international teams. For me, I hope Lisandro Martinez joins the Copa 21 and be Quarta's CB partner. ------------------Armani Montiel---Quarta---L. Martinez---Tagliafico From what I've seen, I believe that Quarta and L. Martinez can play well together and plus you have the the River Plate team chemistry with Armani, Montiel and Quarta while you have the Ajax team chemistry with L. Martinez and Tagliafico.
A bit disappointing that Palacios hasn’t seen any action since Germany has started up again. He didn’t even make the bench.
But then the real problem is up front at the forward/striker line because other than Messi like you have Dybala, Lautaro, Aguero, Icardi, etc so the depth is there but you have to choose between which will partner up with Messi
They have more than enough options to make it work. I personally feel Perez in some capacity should be there along with Lisandro. Although I would settle if that's the right for that back line. Its the best line Argentina has seen in years. It's beyond a piss off. I scoured through the net to see if he carried a knock like Santiago but found nothing. What's worse is that he's looked really good in the limited amount of games played. When you consider that they have start a 17 year old kid in the midfield it begs the question why the ******** did you buy Palacios. FML. SIdenote, though Kai is a gem of a player. Looks to be a true elite talent.
