Real Madrid fullback Achraf Hakimi, on loan at Borussia Dortmund, supposedly on our summer radar as his agent says no deal has been reached to extend with Real, a right back who can play on left or wing says the internet...
I actually think he would be a very practical signing. Coming off the back of a season where our biggest impact subs were either an out of form, returning from injury CHO or Pedro, seeing Coutinho either start over Willian (who is likely gone) or come off the bench would be a welcome site. Our wide players: Pulisic (hopefully not plagued by injuries next season) CHO (still not someone to be relied upon just yet) Mount (better suited to the middle of the pitch) Pedro (likely gone) Willian (also likely gone) Tbh, it's hard to see how he wouldn't be welcome. Frank's system has shown itself to be quite versatile in how it utilizes our wide players. I'm not terribly worried about him finding a way to make use of an attacking mid/winger like Coutinho. Throw him and Boga into the mix and I like the look of this team way more already (assuming Willy and Pedro gone). In terms of priority.. I don't think his signing has any baring whatsoever on signing players in other areas. In any case, bringing in a wide player is just as essential imo.. god forbid we go into next season with Pedro and Willy again. This team could do with a marquee player who has the ability to bring in some consistent pizazz. What I would argue in terms of his signing would be his price tag and age. At 28 (in June) I would only expect us to get a couple of good seasons out of him. Hoping we get that COVID-discount.
Does Coutinho offer anything by way of defense? We've been linked to him plenty over the years. I don't know enough about him at Barca except that they've wanted to get rid of him basically since he arrived. I also dont see the need for him since we've now got Ziyech and Mount in the center. We really need more wide help. Coutinho isn't a winger. Nor is Ziyech. With pedro and Willy likely gone, the only solid player we have there is Pulisic. CHO just hasn't done much to make me trust him.week in/out.
Read this recently and it made me want him even less. It's from 2 years ago, and I don't see any evidence that he's improved since then (the opposite is more likely) We are all set in the middle, with those two plus RLC coming back and young Billy certainly deserving of more of a role as well. And then, of course, we still have Jorg, Kova & Kante. Thats seven for 3 or 4 spots depending on how we line up. Agree. CHO is still young so definitely not giving up on him, but we need more. Sancho/Puli to start + CHO/Boga to back-up would be perfect IMO.
https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2019/8/17/20809817/coutinhos-position He is, indeed, highly capable at playing on the wing. Not sure where certain sentiments come from but don’t make things up to make a point. In the event that we don’t get Sancho, I’d welcome him if we don’t have other wide player in mind
I just haven't followed him much since he left Liverpool, where I remember him playing more centrally. With Munich, I see he's deployed on either wing when he does play and does pretty well. No idea what Barca would have in mind around cost, though. One of the articles I've read (on The Athletic, I believe) mentioned that Chelsea are keen on mixing in some established talent with our existing youth project. Ziyech fits that mold and Coutinho certainly does, as well (28 this summer).
Does not matter where he plays he still does not do enough on defensive end, even for a luxury player to fit in our press without it breaking down, and for me does not even add quite enough luxury for the money; we can do better
The new rumor (Get France Football, who generally does a good job) is this is the agents driving the interest. Basically, The rumor is about Coutinho and James. Both are traditional 10's who can play out wide but are less effective there. Teams today don't use 10's. I really dont see this happening.
Lots of chatter (people are bored?) about Kante moving on. Possibly on Madrid's radar. I mean, this is a tough one. But we could fleece Madrid again for a superstar clearly on the decline. He was the best in his position for many years, but I think we've seen this season what injuries have done (I think he rushed back). He makes a ton and still has three years left so it will be quite a hefty sum.
Markets are all down tho. Rumors are saying it’s cash plus player but they don’t have players we want. Barca would be interesting with Delembe but he’s a headcase so there’s that.
Should have a full healthy squad when Football eventually starts, JJ&M help us on this Board if Pul does not start first match back And all here be well til then
Chelsea are closely monitoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract situation at Arsenalwith a view to making a move this summer, sources have told ESPN
Supposedly, Italian sources say Lamp is talking with Dries Mertens for a free. Giroud supposedly set to get one year and stay after all, and Willian will give his all for us til season over or declared over, while he plays a bidding war with most of our biggest rivals in London and pool.
Juventus open talks with Jorginho Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to hook up with midfielder Jorginho for a third time, with his Bianconeri employers ready to offer £35 million for the Chelsea player. Jorginho played under Sarri at Napoli and again at Stamford Bridge, and Sarri is obviously a big fan, for the National are reporting that Juventus have already held talks over personal terms with Jorginho's representatives. Jorginho was signed by Sarri at Chelsea for £57m in the summer of 2018 and he has already revealed that he has considered leaving the club before. Jorginho struggled to adapt to the Premier League in his first season but he has become a major part of Frank Lampard's side in his second. However, the Brazilian appears keen to hook up with his old manager for a third time. ———————— lol good luck with that. 0 chance we don’t at least break even on the deal.
The club have done really well to recoup fees for the likes of Costa and Morata, can't imagine us letting Jorginho go for a lousy sum like that.
Especially to an ex manager. Hell were trying to extort more than 10 million from Inter and Conte for Victor Moses with a year left on his deal and zero value to us.
Yes, but the collapse of the global economy might be a factor? It is really is hard to say anything right now regarding the value of a player. We sell players cheaper. We buy them cheaper. I think that is the immediate future. That is IF we are selling him at all.
Papers, bloggers, twitter's and everyone in between all seem to think Chilwell is happening. I'll believe it when I see it. Certainly considering the fees being mentioned pre virus and pre economic melt down. I think that we will see a lot more exchanges this year. It has always been common for Italian clubs but clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona (who do it on occasion) have lengthy lists of players available to use as parts of trades. We also have players on loan and trading might be the future for us too. Maybe they want Drinkwater back? Jovic is available and Real Madrid are in on going discussions with another side. There have been no discussions with Chelsea however. Which brings in the other factor: What players will do well during a pandemic and which won't? What players have the mental stability?
Heard Chelsea might after Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window but can't be sure if those rumors have any traction though
As a quasi OL fan, he's great, however, IMO he's at least a full season away from being ready. He needs another season at OL and in Ligue 1.
Do they? Who's the quoted source at the club? 99% of reports are made up BS so I'm keen to hear more on it being confirmed chelsea are interested.
