Not sure what more Garner and Gomes need to do at this point. Must be incredibly frustrating... not allowed out on loan but under utilised in cup competitions too.
https://streamja.com/dmePB Oakley-Boothe had a nice half for Stoke. Set up a goal too with a nice bit of skill
John Mcdermott joins the FA as Assistant Technical Director. http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/mar/...ed-as-new-assistant-technical-director-200320
General response to the McDermott appointment seems very positive. He was highly regarded at Spurs. This information had passed me by and only just read this article now. On the negative side, leaving it so late looks incompetent. On a brighter note at least Musah is confirmed as eligible. Hopefully they've learnt their lesson as there are others not born in England playing for the youth sides like Kenneh, Musiala & Shoretire.
GREG CLARKE SPOKE AT THE FA COUNCIL MEETING ON TUESDAY IN MIDST OF COVID-19 OUTBREAK Tuesday 07 Apr 2020 5 Shares FA Chairman Greg Clarke delivered a speech to Council on Tuesday 7 April 2020 We live in uncertain times and our priority is to support the Government’s public health initiatives. The wellbeing of all of us, and especially our most vulnerable members, must be our focus and the Government’s instructions regarding social distancing are our route to safety. However, football needs to pay attention to the economic effects of the pandemic as well as rigorously following public health guidance. Football, like many other sectors of the economy has been hit hard by effectively closing down its business. From grassroots through the semi-professional pyramid to the professional game: clubs have closed, games are cancelled, terraces are empty and cash flow has stalled. Yesterday, Mark Bullingham, the FA Chief Executive, announced the measures the FA Board approved to stabilise our finances given the suspension of the games that drive our revenue streams. The FA is suffering from the severe financial consequences of the pandemic which could be in the range £150 million upwards over the next two years. The pay cuts and furloughing we have implemented buys us time to understand more fully the duration of the lockdown and its economic impact on us. Returning to the issue of uncertainty, no one knows how long the lock down will last and what social distancing measures will endure even when the daily rate of infection is much reduced. Our Government is rightly cautious as human life is at stake and prudence is our only sensible option. We are committed to finishing the professional football season as this resolves the issues of promotion and relegation together with title winners on merit. However, we may not be able to finish the season as football is not our priority, human life is, and we will do as the Government directs as the pandemic unfolds. Further down the football pyramid, our Leagues have requested that the season is curtailed and that decision rests with the FA Council. Football faces economic challenges beyond the wildest imagination of those who run it. The pandemic will be followed by its economic consequences and all business sectors will suffer. We face the danger of losing clubs and leagues as finances collapse. Many communities could lose the clubs at their heart with little chance of resurrection. In the face of this unprecedented adversity, all the stakeholders within the game from players, fans, clubs, owners and administrators need to step up and share the pain to keep the game alive. Everyone should understand that the Premier League clubs are not immune from the impact of this and whilst they are impacted to different degrees depending on their cost base, the potential overall financial impact is huge. We must have a plan to ensure that English football is not decimated should this season be lost and next season blighted. We hope we do not need this plan as we are all determined to finish the professional football season, however we would be fools not to develop such a contingency plan. Those that lost their clubs because English football did not rise to the challenge would rightly judge us harshly. Time is pressing as football burns through its cash reserves with no sign yet of a resumption of the game. Pointing fingers serves no purpose. It is time for the stakeholders to agree common cause to save our game. Contribute. Football is a team game and now is the time for teamwork. The FA looks forward to working with all football stakeholders to safeguard the future of our game. By Greg ClarkeFA Chairman
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...ed-FA-looks-cut-costs-coronavirus-crisis.html I think this would be a awful move if true! Actually think this age group has been good for development. It will be interesting to see if other Countries are also cutting age groups to cut costs as if it’s just England then that wouldn’t sit well considering they must be one of the richest in the World!
I find it awkward they're talking about the competition the teams play in terms of prestige etc. The purpose should be to expose/give playing opportunity to talents against other quality youth nat. teams to that way get exposed to different styles of play/different tactics etc. Prestige is the last thing to take into consideration. How much do you save with it anyway?
I really don’t know how much they would save tbh but can’t think it would be hitting the FA hard in the pocket compared to other projects they will keep going which we will probably see as a less impactful towards the National team. What I also find disturbing is they also mention about other age groups under threat! What a set back this would be if they start axing age groups because they deem not playing in prestigious tournaments when it’s their development which is more important! Just on a side note but if they start going down this route, I could see us losing a lot of Dual Nationality players to other Countries who will take advantage of our cost cutting to age groups!
That too! I think it's a stupid idea that will cost more in terms of the possibility to test talents and groom them for the big team than the money saving is worth.
Young players doing well in 'prestige' international tournaments plays a big role in these players getting on the radar of the senior team at PL clubs that don't have much of a youth focus n the same way a Dutch club might.
Newcastle United ultimately wants to have the best English talent on its team. The club targets Carney Chukwuemeka (16 years old - Aston Villa). The club is ready to pay the sum of £1m. The young player is seduced by the project put in place. [Soccer Link] #nufc— NUFC360 (@NUFC360) May 13, 2020
He's not gonna go from Villa to Newcastle, it makes no sense. There'll be bigger teams in for him if he's available because he's really good.
That tweet/plan is probably assuming the Saudi takeover is a formality and that the Saudi plan is to have "to have the best English talent on its team". Who knows what the source is but Newcastle will be throwing cash around to reach that top table if the deal goes through.
Man Utd want to sign not only Jude but Jobe Bellingham too. Currently the only uncertainties for new scholar intake that we are aware of ? Sam Iling (Chelsea) Carney Chukwuemeka (Villa) Rico Richards (WBA) Jadan Raymond (Palace) Charlie McNeill (Man City)
Charlie Webster & Benicio Baker-Boaitey have also been linked with moves to Germany. Also still waiting to see where Ben Chrisene is off to.
I think a small handful more might end up switching late on, it seems like it gets wilder every year. Kian Pennant, Shola Shoretire, Calum Kavanagh, Ruben Shakpoke, Goran Babic, Josh Ireland, Mohamed Sankoh, any of them could change I think.
Really is growing season. Any idea where some of the one's that have not been in the tabloids are going ? England or Germany ? I see RisingBallers are confirming that Josh Ireland is leaving Stoke.

Man Utd also want him. Both clubs with small local intakes. Liverpool are among the clubs interested in 16 y/o English sensation Benicio Baker BoaiteyBoaitey informed West Ham that he's not going to sign a professional contract and he will look for a new clubHis movement on the pitch is similar to that of Douglas Costa (@SPORT1) pic.twitter.com/HwH46SHoWk— LFC Transfer Room (@LFCTransferRoom) May 21, 2020
Fabio Carvalho signs pro at Fulham. He and Stansfield could definitely get a fair amount of gametime next season, whenever that happens. A ⭐️ in the making.Fabio Carvalho has signed his first pro contract!#FFC— Fulham Football Club (@FulhamFC) May 22, 2020
Re Fulham, does anyone have any links to games featuring Matt O’ Riley? Haven’t seen him play for so long that I’ve forgotten what he offers.
So it looks like Werner is now going to be heading to Chelsea rather than Liverpool. I must admit I'm not that clued up on whether he is a pure number 9 or if he plays anywhere across the frontline, but either way one of CHO, Abraham and possibly even Mount still are going to lose minutes as a result. From an England perspective, it would have been better if he'd gone to Liverpool as they don't really have any English attacking options anyway(unless you count very peripheral players like Brewster or Curtis Jones).
