^ ^ ^ Title, title! NWSL on ESPN: Portland Thorns vs. Orlando Pride - YouTube "The NWSL on ESPN is back as we are in the halfway point of the 2019 NWSL Season and it's a good boost since the USWNT won back-to-back and their record 4th World Cup title. But now, it's time for business on National TV as the Thorns take on the Pride in a newly renovated Providence Park."
Thanks for the post, @Klingo3034! You rock. Something I'm looking forward to is seeing all the games - the channel Women's Soccer History is good, and elsewhere online is stuff from almost any era and country. The World Cup winning run by Germany in '07 seems not to be online, for some reason, but there is the first senior meeting of Brazil and the novices of New Zealand. Ha! Marta doesn't stand a chance. (Sadly NZ boss Allan Jones had quit due to injury, so this was the first big game in management for John Herdman.) WWC 2007: Brazil vs New Zealand www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX0KhUcQzpk

Not sure if you can watch this outside of Iceland, but yesterday the Icelandic state television showed a full match replay of Iceland's greatest ever victory against Germany in 2017. https://www.ruv.is/sjonvarp/spila/ithrottaminningar/30286/90qhn6
I was watching the 2nd half of Germany vs USA WWC 2015, what an annoying game. Johnston (Ertz) should've had a clear red card and it was no penalty, clearly no penalty, the refereeing was goddamn dreadful for this one yes, USA were the better team, but a game shouldn't be decided this way. Point blank. This scenario happens in so many games every year, that a team is better ... and whatever, no games should be decided this way, regardless of how the teams are playing. It was no penalty, and it's awful that it's happening in a World Cup semi-final. It's a pity and it's shameful Yes, the USA scored a second goal, and I often hear this argument put forward, but Germany had to risk when it was just ten minutes again. 2-0 looks nicer but this game was decided by awful refereeing, even I admit that the USA played better, but the ultimate factor in a football game should never be a referee do so many blatant mistakes
It's awful, and it was three big mistakes lol, because Laudehr should've had a clear free-kick before the "penalty" incident - I even remember the Norwegian experts saying this post-match it's so bad that I remember I suspected match-fixing for this one, seriously bad. A hot mess of a referee @hotjam2
It's better if this is a thread mainly for match videos, and for many teams. If you want an in-depth discussion, please use one of the team threads - I've copied it here. German Fraulein National Team 2020 & beyond https://www.bigsoccer.com/posts/38615356/
Remembering Brynjarsdottir played brilliantly in that game. She might of celebrated too much after wards cuz one month later she announced her pregnancy! lol Germany novice coach, Stefi Jones, blew the game with her predictable, moving the ball straight up the midfield while the Iceland waited in ambush with an intense press. The post game words of the Iceland coach came back to haunt him as he mentioned something on the lines that.......Germans play all alike. By the 2nd leg, the Germans hired an more capable coach & throughly dominated the match. Of course it didn’t help that Brynjarsdottir was not around & tied the Czech Republic, which didn’t give them enough points to make it to the wild card playoffs. Iceland’s obvious problem is not going deep enough, but they did have a 17 year old starting at Euro 2017(can’t remember her name though) & a starting CB on Florida St 2018 NCAA champ squad, so hopefully more talent is on the way!

I watched a good (oldish) documentary last night on Graham Taylor, the coach of the England men's national team in 1993, when it failed to qualify for the World Cup. It's titled "Did I Not Like That"--The Impossible Job. At one point during a match Taylor sees a play and says, "Did I Not Like That"--and he got ridiculed for it after the team struggled in qualifying and failed to get into the big tournament. Taylor was a coach who'd had amazing success with Watford and Aston Villa prior to the getting the NT job, but it didn't work out for him on the big stage and the documentary shows the difficulties of dealing with the press, in particular, and the fans when things are not going well. England's last qualifying match in '93 was a do-or-die contest against The Netherlands--the winner qualifying for the WC, the loser going home. There were two controversial, game-deciding plays in the match, both involving Dutch player Ronald Koeman, and they both ended up going against England, based on referee decisions. Koeman, ironically, is now the coach of the Dutch men's national team. Taylor has a good personality and temperament--I was impressed by the way he handled the team and the demands of the job. He went on to become a longtime soccer commentator for the BCC. He died a couple of years ago. I won't post the doc because it's not a women's match, but it's on YouTube if you're interested.
@L'orange Yup, it's a classic doco. Thru a vague process of '7 Degrees of Graham Taylor', I found a lot of Dutch women's team games from their pre-Euros campaign in 2016 and 2017, for those who are interested. I'll post them in order in the thread soon The Netherlands 2020 bigsoccer.com/threads/the-netherlands-2020.2108631/page-3 This is the earliest one ▶ Olympic qualifiers. UEFA. Women. Lieke Martens correctly starred in this video, but there were a pair of missing magic tricks she made during Euro 2017 that probably would have deserved being part of this compilations. Also, I would have liked to see something from Shanice Van de Sanden: maybe less technical than other players, but she's so explosive that she deserved being part of an "Amazing women's football" gig. Jessica Silva's backheel & nutmeg was correctly there. In a video about "numbers" in women's football, I guess this goal by Barça's Alexia Putellas shouldn't be missing:
Martens starred in the number of times she showed up on camera, but there was pretty much only one in match clip. Both Martens' Cruyff turn causing two Belgians to collide into each other and Groenen's 180 to completely psych out White should be in the video. (You can find a number of worthy inclusions in YouTube compilations of Martens and Groenen, notably WoSo Comps, but you can also say that about a fair few players. Not the most comprehensive video by any means, but still pretty good.) Van de Sanden did have a few clever moves at the 2017 Euros, but even in a tournament where she was very good, she still seemed to divide opinion.
