    ...probably :)

The forum homepage is stuck 2 or 4 years in the past and looks disorganized because of this top section.
'Soccer cups' was moved to the top in 2017, further away from very similar sections, like 'Americas' and 'Europe'.
    So, I'm putting it to you, @el-capitano, @Paul Calixte, @Janet H, @sidspaceman, @comme, and other nice people.

What would you think about 2 changes?

    1. Move the forums that are out-of-place / out-of-date
    US Open Cup ⇒ USA
    CA Centenario 2016 ⇒ CONMEBOL
Mexico Club Cups ⇒ Mexico (move/merge?)
    World Cup 2018 ⇒ lol

    2. Move all the others to the more suitable section
    UEFA and Europe ⇒ Europe
    CONMEBOL ⇒ Americas
    CONCACAF ⇒ Americas
AFC: Tournaments ⇒ Asian Football Confederation (move/merge?)
    CAF: Tournaments ⇒ Africa (merge)
FIFA and Tournaments ⇒ World of Soccer

This would improve the existing sections by making them more comprehensive for each continent. The forums for Conmebol/Concacaf already have many other football topics that are not about 'Cups'.

I believe "soccer cups" is a very old category dating to way before 2005. At one point, it probably made sense. I'm surprised it's still around, due to the natural evolution of things. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most people would rather hang out in their teams' forums where they're more likely to know who they're posting with. For example, I'd rather hang out in the Crew forum to talk about the USOC than go into another forum to talk about it.

So yeah, clean that area up. I wouldn't be opposed. It would be great to hide those forums from competitions in 2016 and 2018. I'm sure there's many others that could be hidden.

In addition, there seem to be a gaggle of spam posts and many moderators who haven't posted anywhere in quite some time. It's long past time for a major overhaul of things.

They used to be that way. For example the Mexican cups used to be a sub forum in the Mexico forum then it moved to this section a few years back. Same thing with the Copa America.

Btw, if they're moved, I'd say these should be the first forums in their categories (to make them easy to find) - i.e. before 'Argentina' or 'Bosnia'

    Maybe different for this one?
The first forums in WOS at the moment are
Introductions Board / BigSoccer Polls /
The Beautiful Game / Player News & Rumors.

(The Beautiful Game has the most posts)

Maybe the mods @comme and @Paul Calixte could decide the best arrangement?

Since my opinion has been requested...

    Agreed.

If anything, this belongs within FIFA and Tournaments.

Agreed, to an extent - AFC and CAF Tournaments would be better suited as sub-forums of their respective confederation forums.

Admittedly, I have skin in the game here...but this is the one I can't quite justify. I don't see how the World of Soccer potpourri makes sense as a new home; a more arrogant version of myself would argue that FIFA & Tournaments should just have top billing on its own, but I'm fully aware of how the traffic is there outside of World Cup Finals.

I just really want the Mexico Cups forum back to the Mexico forum and the Copa America forum back as a CONMEBOL sub forum.

Actually, it looks like it is redirect there. Not sure if it was done just now, or previously, but as I remember (being a mod of the WC), I think it put there so that there would be greater visibility than having it buried in the Fifa and Tournaments.

My reasoning with this is, "Fifa thinks it rules the World, so..." :D

WOS appears differently for others, I hadn't noticed - members see the forums, and site visitors see one extra ('First Time Here'), a link to the registration page.

Yes back in 2016 or early 2017 when we had a site redesign. You can tell because the Mexico club tournament forum dies in 2016.

Okay - will move those back and we can just include links in Cups

Why was this moved up to the top? Who decided?

World of Soccer had some work done to be a good 1st section on the site.
As I said, I only saw the 'welcome' link later - this is clearly a top-level category.

    ^ ^ ^ Good post, yeah :)

Everyone here identified some problems with the 'Soccer cups' forums. Can we get some decisions on what changes are necessary, please?
The confederational forums kinda make sense together, except that the Conmebol/Concacaf forums are general ones, not 'Cup'-related.
The 2018/2016 links need to go off the forum homepage - they make BigSoccer look obsolete.
The US Open Cup is not internationally important and sounds like a golf tournament

BTW, why was the US Open Cup put in this category? Just because it has 'Cup' in the title?

...And because 'US' is in the title? :)
(I mean, I doubt anyone ever asked to move the English FA cup comps forum, as it's already in the right section)

Compared to every other U.S. forum, its thread and post count seems incredibly low.
Is it possibly sometimes a disadvantage to be at the top of the homepage?
