Here is what I got out of that, medically:
    He is in a high risk group;
He takes a medication/drug for his disease
That drug happens to be the same one promoted by the President
He became infected by the COVID-19
    He took his medication/drug
    He recovered from COVID-19

1 - How does he know Hydroxychloroquine saved him?
2 - How does he explain the rest of his family also recovering without the drug (or did he give them the drug, too)?
3 - How does he explain the hundreds of thousand of other people around the world who had the virus and recovered, but did not take Hydroxychloroquine (some of them being high risk)?

Stanger, I know you have issues with the medical industry and doctors as well. But step back from that and ask why this is not being even suggested as a possibility? Why is it not even being given in emergency situations?

I don’t know and don’t have an explanation.

And didn’t even post that story to refute anything, just a different experience as to what I am seeing being reported.

    I don’t have any answers.

That is the dangerous part about posting a story like this. It is as irresponsible as Individual One promoting the drug.

That was a story that ran on our local news.

I don’t see how posting it in here is dangerous.

Yeah - this is why you need proper controlled testing.

Anecdotally, there is no benefit according to doctors who are trying it.

Just got back from dropping off a pair of jeans and sweatpants @ Sharps hospital in Coronado. Daughter called and said they just admitted a homeless guy with no pants. I was Jim Dandy to the rescue. Driving thru town was eerie as it's normally packed...day and night. :)

BBC just announced that Burkina Faso has 11 ventilators.

I'll let you Google Burkina Faso's population.

This is going to crush the parts of the world not lucky enough to have been wealthy.

Delaying getting around to legislation, with only Kentucky voters judging your behavior, is very different than botching a pandemic response, with the entire world making a judgment. Unlike Trump, Mitch isn't crazy, in such a case he would preserve his political skin.

This discussion reminds me of when Dorothy Rabinowitz of The WSJ endorsed Hillary in 2016. People were shocked. She said, "Sure Hillary lies, but she lies for the same reasons that other politicians do, for expediency. Trump lies because he's not sane."

I've talked about the feds seizing medical equipment in very hazy circumstances. TPM is my main source for this news; as a small, nimble company they have a tendency to look for stories the big organizations are missing, and try to be the best source on that story.

    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/more-on-the-ppe-seizures

"Again and again we see the same pattern. The institutions that have their shipments disrupted get no clear information what happened, on what legal authority it was done or whether they can expect to get any of the goods back or be made whole from a federal stockpile.

The biggest general question turns on whether these seizures and reallocations are being conducted according to some coherent plan or whether the secrecy is a screen for redistributing them on a preferential basis. The Times tried to get an explanation from the White House. But the response has been we’re using a lot of data and it’s all good.

The biggest takeaway to me is something we’ve seen clearly in our own reporting. Many of the hospital systems and executives insisted that the Times allow them to remain anonymous because they feared retaliation from the federal government."

Two main takeaways. First, the lack of transparency by the Feds is such a symptom of Trumpism. Second, the lack of transparency is hard to pierce because those on the other side of the equation know that we live under an authoritarian wannabe. But that just makes the lack of transparency a more effective tactic.

I spoke with my wife, and Kenya schools have been closed for almost 2 weeks now. They're trying to stop the virus before it gets a foothold. So they've decided to be aggressive on the virus and take enormous risks with their economy.

It's one thing if the US or Spain or Italy, rich countries, decide to shut down the economy for a month. When a Kenya does it, who knows how they come out on the other side? Plus, I've been in Nairobi slums. Kenya can do whatever it wants, if the virus gets into the slums, it'll be horrific.

For those of you who don't know what a third world slum is like, my God, how do I make you understand. Tiny, tiny homes built with scrap metal and bricks stolen from construction sites, all right next to each other, open drainage.

Yeah and there was somewhere else, (which I didn't catch the name of), that only had 4.

Did you catch Newsnight last night by any chance. They were examining the issue of which section of our society was being hardest hit.

This was the beginning of the programme with the very end tacked on...

This was the piece about social inequality and how the disease played out for the poor...
