I used Blackboard for many years, my "current" college (that I am leaving in May) switched to BrightSpace in January, 2019. It sucked moving to a new LMS My "new" college (where I started on Monday) uses Canvas. I have also used Moodle (which sucks). Canvas seems to be much, much better. I am not sure why they still have Blackboard Collaborate, since they use Canvas. Of the four, I would rank them: Canvas (I had a tutorial on Monday and been watching videos for a few days) Blackboard BrightSpace Moodle Essentially, in the meeting, the Dean said, "Well, we consider this your program. You are the expert, not us. That's why we hired you. We trust you." Yes, this is my third day on the job. Not sure I am an "expert," but...
Yes, I realise that. I was just making the point that we need both the antigen tests for the immediate problem and, as we go on, the antibody test so we can get people back into the work force. If those figures we saw the other day, (that up to 15% of the Italian population have had the infection and many might not have even realised it), they can provide something of a return to 'normal life'... or what passes for it now, anyway Of course, it also provides the possibility of more people able to donate to this... https://www.france24.com/en/2020040...-trials-of-coronavirus-blood-plasma-treatment France is to begin clinical trials involving transfusions of blood plasma from coronavirus survivors into patients who have severe symptoms in a bid to treat the illness, the institutions involved said Saturday. Drugmakers are racing to develop a vaccine and treatment for the pandemic, which has killed over 60,000 people since the coronavirus first emerged in China in December. Plasma, the fluid in blood teeming with antibodies post-illness, has already proven effective in small studies to treat infectious diseases including Ebola and SARS. The French trials are to start on Tuesday, according to a joint statement from the Paris hospital authority AP-HP, the national medical research institute INSERM, and the national blood service EFS. "This clinical trial involves the transfusion of plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19, containing antibodies against the virus, and who could transfer this immunity to a patient suffering from COVID-19," it said. I think the point is we need a multi-prong response to this.
Good information, but I'm not sure how that's different than most states in the U.S Maybe you got that going before the numbers hit a critical mass.
I think you have hit the nail on the head. It's all about the timing. We were a bit late implementing but when we started we didn't bother to wait to see if the restrictions worked. We just moved on to tighter restrictions around three days later each time. Despite some minor instances of people trying to play politics once it got serious its been pretty bipartisan here. A council of the leaders of the nation and the states and territories meets at least twice a week (another consisting of the respective health ministers meets as well in parallel) and it seems to be working pretty effectively. We have a Federal Prime Minister who represents the right side of politics, along with 3 state Premiers. The other 3 state Premiers and the two territory Chief Ministers are from the left and they seem to co-operating very well. The biggest point of divergence so far seems to be between the conservative PM and another Conservative State Premier over who is to blame for allowing the Ruby Princess cruise to dock and the passengers to go there own way with the result of over 400 infected people going about their business. My observation of how the USA works at present is that a lot of your leaders cant bring themselves to cooperate with who they deem to be political opponents. It was like that here until around three weeks ago when a lot of our leaders suddenly grew up and acted in the national interest rather than their own. I'm sure we will revert to point scoring soon enough but its good to see bipartisanship in action for a bit.
Just one leader. Congress quickly passed a bipartisan bill. None of the governors have had any complaints about working with Mike Pence, and vice versa. Trump is malignant beyond any understanding, unless you watch U.S. politics very closely. You don't have anybody like him, nor did we until he crawled up from the gutter.
Thanks, bro. As I mentioned in my post, they didn't expect her to last 24 hours. Ultimately, she lasted about 8-10 hours, and died at 1:30 am, this morning. And the virus rolls on.
The crazy thing is that there is no time to mourn. I have tons of family in NY who are bunkered down themselves, some scared shitless because of their own pre-existing conditions, including this aunt's son (my cousin). So the focus has shifted to them already, and their safety.
2 leaders. Don’t forget McConnell wasted a week because he thought going to Kentucky to attend an even with Kavanaugh was more important than voting on the sick leave bill and then deciding to shutout the Dems in crafting what would become the CARES act...
McConnell is bad, but I would bet on him getting more gear to the states than Trump. That said, a fair point.
I mean the war analogy is overused, but it's not totally wrong. No time to mourn when the bombs are still falling and your focus is on saving those still alive.
Because he would realize that it's making him look bad in an election year, and he's a jackass, not a sociopath who can't help himself.
I have never even heard of BrightSpace. I can't recall ever using Moodle, though I might have looked at it in grad school about a decade ago. The school I was at also used Google Classrooms, but that seems more suited to high school and below, and the Google Ecosystem. I used Blackboard on and off for a decade. Got introduced to Canvas and that seemed so much better. Awesome! When do you start your first class?
Did you miss the part where he went to Kentucky to attend an event for Kavanaugh? The guy thinks he’s invincible and doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
I know quite a bit has been said about the drug Trump has been promoting as a cure and because I am not in the medical field I can only go on what is reported by various sources. Until this came out. I’m not making a judgement, but this person is a personal friend, his wife played on my coed team, his kids I coached. We had a discussion tonight concerning his experience and my fears regarding my kids. Watch with an open mind. https://www.10tv.com/article/hilliard-man-shares-his-familys-story-recovery-covid-19-2020-apr
BrightSpace is from D2L. The program launches and I start teaching in August. I have a two year design project. I am designing the Fall, 2020 courses now. In Fall, I teach the Fall courses and design the Spring 2021 courses. And so on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D2L https://www.d2l.com/higher-education/products/core/
