I assume that you're not from the Northeast, Midwest or Canada, where any mention of a winter schedule is largely guffawed.

If we get some sort of season, everyone will be so happy, that nobody is going to be too bothered about schedule unfairness.

I read an article in the athletic about why baseball doesn't change the schedule in shortened seasons (they've had a few due to strikes and lockouts) because it is more complicated than you think. Arenas and hotels are booked up due to other events in cities (such as the political conventions this summer), so you kind of just go with the remaining schedule, with a few adjustments to make sure everyone plays the same number of games.

Right. There's nothing really more inherently "fair" about the EPL season than the MLS season. Sure, the EPL season is a home/home double round-robin, but so what? The games aren't played with the same rosters in the same weather with the same fitness and teams coming off the same results. There are so many variables that over 30 or so games, it all pretty much comes out in the wash.

The two games played were played. Great. Let's play some more games. If they can get up over 20 games total the "unevenness" will be greatly reduced.

Especially with play-offs at the end anyway.

Outside of the NYC, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse metro areas the infection rate has been very low.

As of yesterday 45/62 counties had had less than 100 confirmed cases and there were 17 counties with less than 12.

So I think you could end the intra-county lockdowns fairly soon. Maybe advise people not to travel between counties, especially if they're from a badly hit area.

So will Dana White really pull off UFC 249? His private island idea is totally crazy, in an awesome but also... "dude, really?" kind of way. I still feel like this event is getting canceled, its just to weird now. Even the fighters don't know where they're going to be fighting in 11 days.

Still crazier. At least the players know where Arizona is.

I'm sure your garage is full of vinyl shower curtains and barrels of crisco. You should be good to go.

Nope, Once a county gets to about 40 known cases, the probability of community transmission that is unknown (due to asymptomatic and persons suffering alone) gets to near 100%. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/03/us/coronavirus-county-epidemics.html

Word is that the RSL players all agreed in principle to give up a month's salary to cover the soon-to-be furloughed team employees, but the league said no.

WTF? I mean, I can almost see the union saying no, as a standard they didn't want to see set, but why would the league block it? Unless the league plans to shame Salt Lake's owner into doing it.

Also after a conference call today the Scottish Championship, League One, and League Two clubs have been asked to vote on a proposal that would end the season now, including no playoffs, and rank teams by PPG. Teams have until 5pm Friday to submit their votes. Presumably automatic promotion/relegation would happen while any promotion/relegation that depended on playoff results wouldn't?

    Can MLS Survive?

I'll wager there's a few teams that will close up shop or have new owners for the next season.

    Thx,

    Jay!
