Yuki Kobayashi scored his first goal tonight in his first start for his new club.
However, the team lost the match 1-3 against Mechelen.

His club is technically relegated since the season has been called out, but I am not sure how this will end.

As I said when he joined this club that this is a major step down from Herneeveen.

A return to Japan is the most suitable outcome in my evaluation.

I had missed this but these news are always funny, given that the rules don't allow him to sign for a Serie B club.
Btw good news for Kobayashi: in the end his club will remain in the first division.

To explain the situation: Waasland Beveren appelaed against the Belgian Pro League's decision to relegate them, as the full season was not played. They won the appeal and the there is no relegation for the last season, while two teams will be automatically promoted to the first division from the second division to expand the number of the teams in Belgian Pro League to 18 teams in the 2020/2021 season (and maybe the sesson after).

Correct, there is still only one relegation to 2nd div. planned so far (last place). That means that the league sticks to 18 teams.

He Is allowed to leave his club as he was falling out of favour.

He is not intending to return to Japan, and Qatari club Al-Khor is mentioned as a possible destination.
